  1. For those who want to see Johnny Stanton before he becomes a Husker, his high school will play Brophy Prep in Phoenix on Aug 25 and the game will be televised on ESPN2. All you Ariz Huskers might want to go watch in person while the rest of us tune in our living rooms. Tell the wives you have the tv reserved that night! I believe the game starts at 9 pm central time. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/varsitytimesinsider/2012/07/football-santa-margarita-opener-will-be-on-espn2.html
  2. As has been mentioned several times already, Taylor M had his hands in the recruitment of Stanton. To the few who said Taylor wasn't invested emotionally in our program, that theory can be put to rest. Martinez is 100% Husker Red. Thank you Mr. Martinez and welcome Mr. Stanton.
  3. If I remember correctly, Ade was a senior on the Husker team that had no starter over 6'5" in the Big 12. Ade played post I believe and while they struggled against some teams they beat Texas and nearly beat Kansas
  4. Back to the topic of Johnny Stanton. I feel his commit might open the doors for a few receivers to pull the trigger as well. With Beau Sandland also from Calif and looking for a good home, I'm thinking it might be another reason for him to feel like Huskerland would be a good place to spend 2 years. Possibly a few linemen would also want to play in front of a Qb like Stanton. Not saying it would be a prime reason for coming here but it could play a part.
  5. Just as the Husker coaches are still recruiting other Qb's, Damien W is letting them know they are not his only option. Recruiting is a chess game but in this game the pieces move themselves sometimes. It would be great if he pulls the trigger for the Huskers but it's a wait and see thing.
  6. I think our coaches have a pretty good handle on who to pressure and who to go slow with. Johnny probably received the higher pressure pitch on his first visit. Bo probably laid out more facts this time and talked with him about how he would fit in our system. Sounds like the players had a good visit too...especially Taylor M. They really do have a lot in common....both from Calif and both led their teams to state championships. Here's to a friday morning toast. Coffee cups raised (or red Kool Aid) to an exciting and successful week of Husker recruiting. Stay cool guys!
  7. I thought this was a thread about Zach Hannon? A bit of a thread drift?
  8. I really did look before posting this and didn't see he was already on the list. Was looking for Josh Banderas and saw Elijah's name. Mods you can delete this post please.
  9. A couple of links on this young man. http://nebraska.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1377357 As a player he has rotated in the positions he has played so he is "only" ranked as a 3* now. He will participate in the Rivals 100 5* Challenge in Atlanta later this month. Sounds like he has an official planned for Nebraska during the season. Some interesting video here on the various positions he plays. Has good agility and size for a running back and what would be great speed for an interior DL.
  10. Westbrook shoots the ball 32 times. Probably half of them drives in the lane and gets 3 free throws the whole game....none till mid 4th quarter. Lebron shoots 20 times and gets 8 free throws. Did OKC piss away some chances....sure. Frustrate a young team with bad calls often enough and early enough and they will implode quickly.
  11. The word must have gone to the refs tonight that Miami is to win this game. I've watched about 5 minutes of this game and have seen 3 light weight fouls called on OKC and 2 obvious fouls not called on Miami. No one can convince me this league is not rigged in all ways.
  12. Those might make us look taller but the 40 times will suffer a bit I'm afraid.
  13. Tom O made a living at taking small town kids and occasionally making them into good or even great D1 players. Most of the time they had to practice in the system for a few years at game speed in order to learn how to play fast. The weight program gave them the strength to play strong. While Sioux Falls isn't small class necessarily it also isn't large class Calif or Texas where kids come out college ready. It may take 2 or 3 years for Nathan to get playing time here and he may never play....some kids with good high school resumes and all the physical skills never make the transition. He has the tools to be good. His desire, hard work and a bit of luck will make him very good.
  14. #74 Samuelson #17 Bando #11 Hart #88 lacouture #5 Gerry #44 Natter. Thanks for the corrections!
  15. Recruiting can be a frustrating ordeal for fans. The wheels turn slowly and we want what we want now. Not every kid we contact has a burning desire to be a Husker. I'm sure Wally Cox wanted his grandson to wear Husker red on Saturdays but a grandparent probably has limited influence over their grandson. I'm going to trust the coaches on this one, that Chans was cool to us and who knows what goes through the head of an 18 year old. That said, I'm going to be excited about Nathan committing yesterday and look forward to great things from him.
  16. 4.42 speed in the 40. Fast for a safety....blistering for a LB. Whatever position he ends up at I think we have a winner. Left to right....Dan Samuelson, not sure on "17", Greg Hart, A J Natter, Nathan Gerry, Josh Banderas.
  17. Beau S and Mr Johnson the tackle from Hutch would both be diamonds for this recruiting class. I hope they will pull the trigger. Beau would be a beast in the Big 10 and give our offense an immediate upgrade.
  18. Can't yet find an official link but the word is out that NU offered Mr Stanton this afternoon. It looks like he will tryout for both Oregon and Wisky this weekend. Now the waiting game begins.
  19. He has patterned his coaching style after the great coaches in his past. I think he has what it takes to get Nebraska to a regional and beyond. He dreams big and knows what it will take to get there. Lead on Coach E!
  20. I 2nd that motion. All in favor say "aye".
  21. I wonder if the track coaches could get him out for track in the spring?
  22. Stanton is head and shoulders above him. My ranking for all of our prospects 1. Stanton 2. Kincade or Bailey 3. Bailey 4. Scott 5. Hobbs. We think alike!
  23. If we end up losing Stanton while waiting for one of these other Qb's to decide, then I hope we never have to play the team that Stanton plays for. I think it's a mistake to put him in the 2nd level of interest...especially when he showed up and played well today.
