  1. Why is it beating a dead a$$? After the near miss in 09 everyone talked about 2010 and how that was going to be the year Bo busted out. Remember the comments Carl P made about how "year 3" is the time when it all comes together? Oopps! 4 losses. Fast forward to 2011 - another disaster in the making with yet another loss to an unranked team at home. Looks like we're becoming another Iowa type program. Serious question: Do YOU feel we're any closer to winning any sort of championship under Bo?
  2. A simple question really. In light of the recruiting, motivation and preparation issues that dog this team - take a step back, forget about X's/O's, offense/defense schemes and assess the program in it's entirety since Bo arrived. Forget about 2008 since that was a crap shoot, but since 2009, has this program progressed towards a national championship?
  3. The only statement we need to make is kicking PSU's hiney. Anything else is just a distraction.
  4. You state the obvious. It's year 4 and I guess Bo's still learning how to be a HC and how to manage and prepare a team in all 3 phases. Based on what most here think, he should get about 22 more years to do that as long as we average about 3-4 losses a year. The question is WHY? Unfortunately the real answers make all the KA drinkers here very uncomfortable but to me it's simple: 1) Bo's simply not good at teaching the little things and holding guys accountable. Remember how Tyler Moore was yanked for 1 false start never to be heard from again but Marcel Jones can continue to make the same false start penalties game after game after game and still not get benched? Just one of the symptoms of bigger problems with his style of HC'ing. 2) Recruiting & Player development: The main area where Bo's failed esp. on defense. We just don't have talent on defense and the borderline guys that we have are simply not developing! Period. And now we're scrambling and going after 4 & 5* guys. Lets see how many we actually sign and what the plan B guys turn out to be. Other than guys like Hagg/Amukamara Bo's not developed anyone worth a damn. Case in point: Tackling. The most basic aspect of football. Look how horrendous this team is at that. That indicates a lack of development and ultimately a lack of confidence with the players. Bo's too in love with his schemes..... and it bailed him out in 2009 with Suh but we all saw the warts last year with the inability to stop the run. Guess what - it's now all come to fruition. If you can't stop the DAMN run, all bets are off - no scheme will work! How Bo doesn't get that after all these years indicates a basic flaw in his personality.....
  5. We'll know we're back when we first & foremost stop losing to teams at home - ranked or unranked. Period! Losing to unranked teams every year AT HOME is beyond anything I could have imagined when Bo was hired. I thought right off the bat we'd be back to at least "average" by NU standards. Going into year 4 and still losing to bad unranked teams at home is 1 of the main reasons I'm off the Bo bandwagon. I can't believe how easy the media is on Bo after a loss that pretty much kicks NU out of the BCS and into a 3rd rate bowl. And as you can see, all the KA drinkers have hunkered down for the inevitable 4-loss era..... where every year will be compared to how it took TO 22 years to win an NC. It's basically a defeatest defense mechanism that kicks in when you know you're out of options. Well, IMO we're NOT out of options: Lose to another unranked team or no BCS in 2012 and Bo should be gone. NU can do better. You do realize what happened when we fired a coach who was actually winning football games, do you? At least Bo beats top 10 teams, unlike Clownahan. Some people just need to get some perspective Let's just erase Cally from the books - he was a mistake, so lets not always bring him into a conversation about Bo's shortcomings. If that's a defense mechanism to prop up a weak argument, then that's your problem. If you're referring to Solich..... sigh........ in that smoke & mirrors 9-3 season we got taken out behind the woodshed by the 3 decent teams we played. The games weren't even close. Sheesh! "Some people just need to get some perspective"
  6. Now that's funny but let me caution you: If we all left this BBS would be back to boring...... A lot of HP'ers are not KA drinkers.....we're realists and see things for what they are.

  8. And how many losses to unranked teams and teams ranked below NU did TO have "at this point in his career"?
  9. From Penn State.... To state pen. The whole telecast with Joe P, etc. is going to feel very very very ..... weird on Saturday. I mean has there ever been a bigger bombshell in the history of college football? Makes SMU, OSU and USC look like kids fighting in kindergarten. This is the biggest most unbelievable story ever in CF - and to think Joe Pa was on the sidelines the whole time.
  10. NU lost. To a team they should have beat. Individual stats mean nothing in a team game. I am addressing the thread topic. AustinHuskr also specifically bolded and underlined "TM is not getting the live reps and thereby his accuracy and timing is not getting better.' Nebraska did not lose because of Taylor's "accuracy and timing" being off. Taylor played a good game and it's obvious he is getting better as a QB. It's ironic that the running game and the defense did Nebraska in against NW though. Yes, props to TM. I will admit that, but PLEASE lets not fall over ourselves. This was North FRIGGIN western we're talking about - not LSU or even Oregon. Just like we went all ga ga over ourselves after beating an average MSU. Maybe this turned the page on TM's passing but if he's such a great passer then why were we jamming it with Rex for the better part of 3 qtrs. when we could just as easily have gone to Air-TM? Maybe Beck doesn't have the confidence in TM's arm. Maybe - just maybe when it was apparent that NU was going to actually lose, that Beck decided to go air-TM in the 3rd. What does that say about Beck's confidence in TM's arm? Regardless, I'm not overly impressed with a Nebraska QB having good passing stats against a crap team like NW. Did anyone actually see NW's non-existent pass rush?
  11. TM said that same on Sat after the game. Yet, the Bo-lievers will dance to the drum beat of God knows what it is that they dance to these days.
  12. It's also easier now to be "nice" after you get your a$$ handed to you by yet another unranked team at home. It shows that you can't get your team motivated to play and with players openly saying that they over looked NW thinking of PSU it makes you look even worse. Don't know for a fact if that's the corner Bo finds himself in but it sure seems like the "we didn't execute" and "we didn't have our eyes in the right places" excuses run thin after a while
  13. "Pulled muscle" (supposedly) And while we burn the shirts at RB - a position we could have burned 1, maybe 2 shirts..... we continue to hoard the "talent" at the DL spot esp. after it's sooooo glaringly obvious that the DL/DE is the weakest it's been in a while
  14. I was wondering ....... Where's Todd Peat, David Santos, Zack Sterup, Ryne Reeves, etc. anyway? All touted players. Or could be all red-shirt guys.......save next year. BTW, I know Charles Jackson was a academic problem but I'm still worried about de-commit thing. Let me add some more to brighten your day -mostly from the 09 and 10 classes and who should be contributing NOW: OL Brent Qvale DE David Ash OL Jesse Coffey (don't know if it was him or Ash who left) DE Walker Ashburn (was talked about as a big "Louisiana get" at at DE) DB Harvey Jackson, DB Dijon Washington OL Mike Moudy, DE Tobi Okuyemi (another huge get at DE supposedly) DE Donovan Vestal Perplexing..... that we have to start Cassidy, Thorell, Blatchford, Evans, etc. AH -- well, I think it is clear that Bo's D is complex. When it works, it is a thing of beauty. But the learning curve may be too much for athletes. Is that different than BC's offense? During the LSU/Bama hoopla of last week someone asked Saban: "What are some of the things your defense has to do to contain LSU"? His answer: "we continue to do the same thing we've done all year. We might tweak a few things for each opponent but the basics of our defense don't change. It's "see ball carrier hit ball carrier. We don't do too many complex things on that side of the ball". Sounds like maybe Bo's too enamored with his "scheme". Against MSU and their bone headed OC the stand-up DL and peso worked. Against NW, not so much. Yet we still continued to play the patty cake defense letting the QB stand in the pocket and have all day to throw. One big problem - that even a doofus could see: NW doesn't have statue QB's. Duh.

  16. Right. if you criticize your own team you are a "troll". Stupid ignorant line of thinking.
  17. Exactly! STUPIDITY at it's finest. Now I know why a lot of guys in the know question Bo's HC prowess - some even go as far as saying that he's not HC material.
  18. How about taking care of "our house" first? Like.... winning at home no matter how highly ranked the opponent is.
  19. Just another thing in a long line of bewildering things of this Pelini regime...
  20. I don't know what it is with NU's crowd but I think it has a lot to do with the quality of football they watch: If the product on the field is garbage they stay silent (or boo as is becoming the norm nowadays). I can't really complain about that. It's year 4 and it's clear that Bo's done a bad job of recruiting on the defensive side of the ball. What we saw Saturday wasn't just X's/O's boo boo's - it was LACK OF TALENT. If you can't see that then you need to stop watching sports all together.
  21. Maybe Taylor is improving but you wouldn't know it by how much confidence his coaches have in him - because if they do have confidence in him then Beck & Co. have to be the dumbest coordinators out there for not realizing that they needed to pass more in the first 1/2 to get NW off the LOS! Then in the 2nd 1/2 they still keep running that same ZR short side option for the first 2 possessions! How stupid is that? How long does it take you to figure out that the run game just isn't working. Oh wait - but I thought they had all this confidence in TM's arm
  22. "Even TO couldn't win championships that fast. It took him decades to build the program to what it was in the mid-90s, " Amazing... the number of times we see that tired old worn out excuse. Yo! I have news for you. TO WAS NOT MAKING ~$3Million FRIGGIN BIG ONES!! Kapeesh? If we are going to pay top notch BCS $$, then in the name of all that is Nebraska Football, we can DEMAND a little better than getting taken out to the woodshed by a bunch of nerds from North Chicago.
  23. WTF? TO went 25-0 aganst KjSU. Oh wait, Solich and Cally didn't. Is that what you're getting at?
  24. I think any calls for Bo Pelini to be fired are debatable at this point. However, in year 4 of a coach who represents our program poorly, seems to resent the fans, doesn't emphasize recruiting, and consistently has undisciplined/sloppy teams, I've reached the point where I really don't care if he leaves. He's not offering anything that can't be replaced. In fact, he seems to think he is some sort of legendary coach and that Nebraska fans should just accept whatever product he slops together. That attitude hurts our program. Tom Osborne needs to evaluate how Bo's doing things closely in both coaching and recruiting. We should find a discrete way to dump Carl Pelini and anyone else who isn't carrying their weight (and salary). Finally, clear standards should be placed on how Bo and staff are to interact with media and fans. No more ditching press conferences (cough...Carl...cough) or childish behavior in front of the media (or on national television). It's year 4 of Bo Pelini, there are cracks in our recruiting, our teams are undisciplined, and we have yet to field a competent offense and defense in the same year. I'd like Bo to stay, revamp his staff, represent our program well, and ultimately be a successful head coach. However, if he wants to leave no one should lose any sleep over it. In fact, his arrogant belief that he's beyond criticism has made him sloppy and is holding our program back. Someone needs to remind Bo Pelini that he is an employee here, not a spoiled monarch. He must be accountable. Tom needs to take a serious look at the state of the program. Period.
