  1. You obviously believe that we'll beat PSU, UM and IA! Wow.
  2. We lost bec. we're not giving play makers reps: Aaron Green and Turner are riding the pine. Don't know what's going on with Braylon Heard. Watching the Bama game - FR and Soph's all over. Makes me sick that we can't use the talent at hand
  3. It's clear as day that Bo is no HC but what should be just as frightening is that he's a HORRID recruiter esp. on the defensive side of the ball.
  4. I hear that the Bo guy's a defensive genius. Well, show me 1 whole season of genius. You won't find it. Not even with Suh.
  5. Don't try to make this some sort of generalization. A LOT of fans don't think Bo's HC material. You have to be drinking A LOT of the KA to think otherwise. Great HC's coach their teams to be good at the little things. Bo has shown exactly ZERO in that department and after 4 friggin years, it's time IMO to seriously think about who the next HC should be - unless of course people are happy with MSU-like records: A win here and win there and a couple of losses. This team bought into the hype after beating a vastly overrated MSU squad and that's no different than NU's losses to TT & ISU in 09 and aTm in 2010. Bo might "say" that he's consistent and it's 1-game at a time but his demeanor and actions speak otherwise
  6. We've burned the RS's off 3 FR RB's - to no avail. You don't put guys in for 1 or 2 carries every 2-3 games. THAT'S BONE HEADED! Bo should know better..... but I digress. Cain Kolter is 3rd string. THIRD FRIGGIN STRING! And wait....... He's a FRESHMAN! And looks light years ahead of TM. Bo is clueless as a HC. Sure he can devise a good defense every now and then. Well, so can Paul Rhodes - and he as 1/2 the players NU does.
  7. Yeah, Nebraska never ever lost games in the good ol days. i love revisionism. Jason Sitoke, first of all you are entitled to your opinion, but I never said or never meant to imply that Nebraska "never ever lost games in the good ol days." My point was that we used to play with a dominant swagger or edge on both sides of the ball....even when we would lose. The Nebraska teams over the last decade have not played with that same intensity or swagger that we used to. Opposing teams used to be scared to play us because of the style of offense we ran and by how relentless our defense was. My point was that somewhere along the way we lost that swagger. But I never said that we never ever lost a game. Even I know that we are not going to win every single game, every single year...that's just unrealistic. The Duke, teams were scared to play NU back in the day because, due to several factors (scholarship limits, facilities, TV exposure), Nebraska's 3rd stringers were better athletes than the starting lineup of your basic KU, KSU, Iowa St. squads. Secondly, I saw Nebraska lose to an Iowa St team in Ames in 1992 19-10. That loss was as embarrassing and flabbergasting as any loss I can recall. This wasn't Bill Callahan and Sam Keller. This was Tom Osborne and Tommie Frazier. The swagger should have been in full effect after two straight beat downs over top 10 opponents. Yet, they laid an egg, weren't prepared, and paid for it. Lastly, I hate the word 'swagger'. Put it right up there with the word 'moxie'. Just seems like words that people use when they can't articulate why their team performed poorly. I will stand by my statement that our team this year and mostly our teams over the past decade have not played with any kind of "swagger." If you choose to hate the word that is your right, but this Husker fan can't wait for the day when the Cornhuskers start playing with a "swagger" and an edge again. Why? Definition of swagger: To walk with an overbearing air of self-confidence. To walk or behave in a very confident and aggressive way. Give me an overbearing, self-confident, aggressive football team any day. Swag comes with winning. And winning BIG games. How many times did TO lose to unranked crappy teams? I think I can count on 1 hand..... In year 4 we should not be in such a dismal position. Bo is not HC material. Plain and simple.
  8. You're NUTS. Bo's teams consistently lose to inferior teams!. Bo's teams consistently play flat at HOME. Bo's teams lose to unranked crappy teams. I'm embarrassed that we were NW's 2nd conf. win. Yikes.
  9. Pelini thus far has proven to be: 1) a horrid recruiter 2) terrible at motivating unless employing "us vs. the world" mentality 3) His teams are terribly coached- mental mistakes are a staple for his teams 4) Unable to hire anyone he isn't buddies with to fix mistakes 5) Too eager to overstep his role and micromanage other coaches 6) Petty in dealing with players and playing time 7) Playing favorites in order to get "his guys" on the field over more worthy players. If you can look past all this and put up with his demeanor and messing with NU traditions, then by all means, support him. But I'm losing faith in this staff.
  10. The first step to getting back: STOP losing to unranked teams at home. Good lord - in 25 years how many times did TO lose to unranked teams at home?
  11. Exactly. Watching the Bama/LSU game made me cringe.... FR and Sophs's all over...... while NU puts them in the oven to bake and mature. Sad sad indeed. What a HUGE waste of talent. What the hell are we doing making a guy like AGreen stand on the sidelines?
  12. Pelini's teams have taken on the identity of their coach. It is so obvious that this is why we come out flat so often. Pelini's temperament changes every minute. One day he is high as a kite, going 1000mph, screaming and kicking at the refs. The next day he is cool calm and collected, the nice Bo people have seen this year. Next he is sullen, depressed, and angry after a loss. His emotions are soooo up and down and up and down it is ridiculous. There is no consistency and that IMO, is exactly why this team plays the way they do and like what was pointed out above. Bingo! Yet Bo preaches consistency. Duh! He cannot practice what he preaches. It's sad that most Husker fans don't see it: Bo is OVER PAID BIG TIME. $2.75 mill - close to $3mill with bonuses. It's apparent why people like Saban and Miles get paid what they do.
  13. And people wonder why the B1G has like 2 NC's in the last 50 or so years (or so it seems). B1G = shoot for the Rose Bowl. Screw the NC. NU fits right in with Bo and his bend don't break garbage defense.
  14. Why are you so surprised? Remember the tu game last year? How about F...L...A....T? Bo is NOT a big time HC or a DC. His schemes SUCK against teams that have a true running game. He proved this at LSU and OU too. The big diff. there was that he had talent to cover up the warts. Tell me - WHY the F_C_(#&K are we the only team that needs 5-6 db's to stop a passing attack? That's IDIOTIC and NW proved why every one else does not run that STUPID peso. The problem with Bo is that he's too NFL like - stop the pass worry about the run later. The complete opposite of what common sense dictates.
  15. Great post. People forget that in 2003 (the year that everyone seems to gush over)... we got TAKEN OUT BEHIND THE WOODSHED by the 3 decent teams we played: MU, KSU and tu. Bo hoodwinked us in 2003. He's doing the same now. What's sad is that Husker fans now have turned into the typical B1G-type fans: Shoot for the rose bowl - the rest doesn't matter. No wonder the B1G has 2 NC's in the last 50 years - it's a watered down league filled with mediocre teams and now we seem to be fitting right in. By the time we poke our head above water it will be 2040.
  16. Agreed 100%. His teams constantly play down to their competition as well. I'm fed up. True. A loaded sentence filled with wisdom.
  17. I'm going to post this 100 times: The problem here is Bo. He's immature, inexperienced and too emotional. Let me explain: After MSU, you could tell that this team bought into it's press clippings. You could see it in Bo too - he was all loosey goosey Bo - a start contrast from the usual snippity Bo. guess what, that's not consistency - that's a HC who acts like his defense has arrived....... the giving out of the BlackShirts.... it all points to a sense of entitlement. The problem here is the SAME (#&$#$ problems that have plagued Bo's teams since the day he arrived: THE INABILITY TO STOP THE RUN. Bo's too enamored with himself and his "Peso". Guess what - that gimmicky defense will work againt Big12 teams and teams like MSU that are hell bent on passing. Teams that have a hint of running between the tackles and a QB that can pass SHRED this defense. It's simply too soft..... On offense, again - Bo's the PROBLEM - not Beck: Here's why: When Watson wanted to run his own offense, he was slapped by Tom and Bo and told to run zone read/Solich style garbage. Result? Crap. Watson fired. Fast forward to 2011: New OC, same problems: You can tell Beck wants to run a truly balanced offense with a legitimate passing QB. Bo steps in and hamstrings Beck with a HORRENDOUS QB - TMart - a QB with ZERO QB skills. We have taken TMarts strengths and turned him into a QB he simply is NOT made to be. TMart cannot/will not EVER make plays throwing the ball. Maybe that's why Beck would not pass the ball untill the 3rd when it was too late. I posted my thread about "concerns about the offense" because I saw the writing on the wall (although I didn't see it happening against a crap team like NW). Anyone can see that TM cannot make plays as a QB. End result? Bo has hamstrung Beck with a QB that Beck simply cannot work with. Just look at how the game went on -- it took us 3 FRIGGIN qtrs. to realize that the run was going nowhere but bec. we don't pass the ball and make use of our talented FR like Turner and Green, we're reduced to humping a serviceable RB who's not a big play guy. Just look at the teams out there making use of their talented FR. Carnes' season is over. Green and Turner have pretty much wasted their RD seasons when they should be used for the play making abilities..... Sigh......
  18. I guess you all know now...... why I started this thread We have no confidence in our passing game and consequently when teams scheme to stop the run we look like we're "forced" into doing something we're uncomfortable at. Screw that! Whatever happened to the "big play" offense that we showed early on in the year? Is Solich back at NU now with "Crouch right Crouch left"?
  19. I like Chatelain's articles. He is the ONLY NE scribe who writes unadulterated stuff and tells it like it is. All the other writers seem scared to ask questions, scared to write what they truly feel (for fear of getting their press creds. revoked). Handing out 19 blackshirts is bogus. The blackshirts represent an elite force - the elite 11 starters, not some lollipop for some guy who played a few snaps here and there. Just because you "participated" doesn't mean you get one. A Blackshirt is something that's earned. Earned by getting a chance to be a regular starter on the first 11. Fisher and Baptiste (among others) getting BlackShirts is a JOKE!
  20. You nailed it. He has a bizarre affinity for the "It's never good enough!" syndrome. We beat a top 10 team with a top 5 offense. Not good enough. facepalm.jpeg Look at the OP and see the reference to my sig. When we show that we can stop a mobile QB I'll stop having gas pains about our passing game. Until then I believe 100% that we're going to have a hard time beating good teams that scheme to stop the run. We'll need to pass better. Look no further than the tu game last year - and granted that was a different time with a different OC and there were dropped balls -- we still saw what happens when a good defense takes away the run. Again, as I said in the OP - we might not see that great defense again this year and thus - our run heavy offense just might work to the very end but......... not so sure about that in the B1GC (esp. if it's OSU) or the BCS. Remember - OSU seems to have found it's groove - HUGE difference from when we played them - which means their defense will shine even more bec. they'll be able to do a lot more and not have to worry about their offense...... Then there's the MI game - IDK -- if MI starts scoring with shoelace breaking big plays - then what? Keep running and running? How many times have we been stopped on 3rd and <5? What does stopping a mobile QB on defense have to do w/ our need to pass more? And yes, if MI gets a few big plays - we keep running and running. We grind 6 minutes off the clock before we score. Then if he breaks another, we grind another 6 minutes off the clock. We control the clock, we control the game, and by the time the 3rd/4th quarters roll around their defense will be gassed and we score at will. At the same time our defense is still fresh and stopping the big plays every once in a while - which at that point is all they'll need to do. If MI is depending on those big plays fine, they won't get them every time. But if we can consistently grind out a score nearly every drive...then what does it matter? We still get the ball about the same number of times as they do. I hope that formula works. If we're in a shoot out with MI, based on what you just said I can see how running 80% of the time working but don't underestimate MI's d. It's not a pushover like last yr. Against OSU, we showed no signs whatsoever of stopping them (read: mobile QB) ..... and had Miller not gotten hurt I'm not sure if we stick with the run game as much as you seem to indicate. We'll see.

  22. A shot - maybe but not if MSU runs the table moving forward.
  23. Not sure if anyone's aware of this but Dorial now lists NU in his top-5! Yo!
  24. Common sense is a rare commodity, Matt. Especially when a seemingly weaker Michigan team would be equally offset by a seemingly stronger Iowa team. You guys are reading way too much into my preference for this Michigan-Iowa game. I don't think rooting for Iowa, or Michigan, implies anything about our program or what people are willing to accept. In fact, what we want or who we root for means jack. If you feel Iowa winning is better for us, then that is your opinion and I have no problem with it. I just don't agree. Personally I have very little respect for the Iowa program and it is my belief that most rational people would feel a victory over a 1 loss top 10+/- Michigan, with Robinson, would be much more impressive than a win against a 3-6 loss Iowa team. I have little concern over what outcome may best help Nebraska get into the CCG for 2 reasons. 1-Like I stated earlier, our desires mean nothing in what will happen and 2-I see no reason we should not win our 4 remaining games. I think a win over a 1 loss Michigan may help our national ranking and reputation whereas a win over, by that time a 5 loss, Iowa will mean nothing to voters or SOS. If we screw up and lose a game, I may have to change my tune but I see no sense in a$$ covering until it is needed. One of our poorest and most embarrasing stats is our record against top 10/15 ranked teams. Why pull for an outcome that will eliminate another opportunity to shed that stigma. I am planning for the best outcome and you guys are jockeying for position in case the worst happens. I will never share that outlook and you can say it lacks common sense all you want. I want great things for the Huskers and you want safe things. Not to mention, if I'm not mistaken, if we lose just one game out of these last 4 and MSU wins out, they would go to the CCG anyways... Therefore rooting for Michigan to lose to Iowa makes no sense as it will have ZERO effect on the division race as long as MSU wins out, and their schedule is pretty easy the remainder of the season... Right.... and that's why I want MI to lose. If anything, it will put a huge dent in their swag and make it easier for us to beat them (esp. in the event that MSU wins out). I don't think going to Ann Arbor and taking on a MI team bursting with confidence is a good thing for NU esp. with a QB who's prone to mistakes.
