  1. The mind of a young athlete is a funny thing. Frost happily converts to safety, plays six years in the NFL, makes connections, and is a P5 head coach. Crouch would not accept anything other than the QB position in the NFL, and look where that decision took him. We need the best athletes. IMO, it is best not to lock someone into a position. I am all with giving someone a chance, but if it doesn't work out, they may be able to thrive at another position. McBride also moved LBs to DL and defensive backs to LB in the early 90s when his defense took off.
  2. If I remember correctly, TO used have a lot of high school running backs that switched to defense. He said the best athletes in high school play RB.
  3. I wonder if the Huskers were in worse shape when Frost got there than the 0-12 team he took over?
  4. At the end of the season I was concerned about the talent we lost. Obviously I was wrong since the football experts at the highest level saw nothing special in our seniors. I need to check and see how much of the pre-Frost roster is still here. I wonder how much of the problem was talent assessment and how much was poor development.
  5. The last 3 picks were from Tulane Florida Atlantic South Dakota State MR recruiting
  6. 7th round and 7 picks in and still no Huskers
  7. Oz is bigger and faster than Rex B. Someone should take a chance on him in a late round. How does a back with no O-lineman drafted (maybe Farmer, but no one else has a shot) that gains over 1000 yards and averages 7 ypc not get drafted? He didn't get 7 ypc because he was running behind a great line. Some of the other backs drafted are running behind 1st and 2nd round picks. I also think Farmer's vertical and bench press stats should get him drafted. From a players perspective, maybe its better if Farmer and Oz are not drafted. Then they can pick an organization where they will have a good fit. In any case, you cannot expect to win when every year the message board is discussing if any players might get select in the last couple of rounds.
  8. What a pity that would be. At least Billy C. recruited well.
  9. The list of schools that have draft picks is amazing: Sioux Falls Old Dominion North Carolina Chattanooga San Diego State Louisiana Tech Western Illinois Northern Illinios Florida Atlantic
  10. Half way through the 3rd round, and the Husker players are not getting any love.
  11. I never know who to root for. My two biggest desires are a dominate OL and a dominate DL. When the OL looks terrible in the spring is it because we have a great DL, or a bad OL?
  12. I think we were worse at the beginning of last year. I would have to look it up, but my memory is telling me that we failed to convert several times on 3rd and 1, and the same for 4th and 1. Weren't we close to last in the nation for a while with our conversion rate on 4th down?
  13. I agree with this. It was disturbing to see repeated failures on 3rd and very short last year. IMO, we could have increased our scoring by 20% if we had converted every 3rd and 2 or less. And by keeping those drives alive, we probably reduce opposition scoring by 10%. The failures on 4th down were even more heartbreaking. Until we can line up with confidence on 3rd and 1, we will struggle to win the West.
  14. I completely agree with you, but I wonder if someone like TO could eventually get to Bo and help him change (just a little). I am almost certain that Bo's personality was not suited for micromanaging, especially from someone Bo didn't respect. I also think Bo was willing to take football advice from TO, and had TO stayed, maybe Wisconsin doesn't run all over us repeatedly. To sum it up, IMO, TO make Bo a better coach and person, and SE make Bo a worse coach and person.
  15. Perlman being a rat has nothing to do with agreeing with me on this single point, and had TO remained athletic director, Bo's behavior and performance may have been different.
  16. I thought Bo got a raw deal from Perlman. It must have been tough coaching when you know the head rat wants you fired. I still though Bo had to go because it is not acceptable to let teams run the ball down your throat repeatedly and not adjust.
  17. I didn't think firing Bo was idiotic. I hated watching teams run all over us. Hiring MR was definitely idiotic.
  18. So it is official that there will be a trial an no plea deal?
  19. Didn't he have an injury that hurt his speed when he was playing for the Huskers?
  20. Why we will be better Strength up the middle of the D. I am not saying we will have it this year, but last year we lost Honas and Mick S., so we have to be improved Year two of the same systems for O and D A year of strength and conditioning Reasons to worry The production of Oz and Morgan What happens to Mo W Who will be our center New LBs with no LB coach I picked 9 wins, and that may be optimistic, but head to head the only game I did not pick us to win is OSU. I think our chances are better than even in every game except OSU, but we will lose a few.
  21. But we replaced our DL coach, and I assume our LB coach is on medical leave.
  22. Hi Bio looks good, but he is Co-D coordinator at Duke. Since Duke is private, I don't think I can find his salary. Since he is interviewing, I am guessing Nebraska can pay him enough to move.
  23. We need to take advantage of local lineman. No father goes outside and does OL or DL drills with his son. The skill and finesse position players are probably more abundant in warm weather areas.
  24. Football is a team sport. Do not let your teammates down for selfish reasons.
  25. It is a shame that so many players sit out. Michigan had 5 players that sat out, and all 5 of them will most likely be drafted.
