  1. I agree with JJH. IMO, it comes down to our OC and DC being able to adjust on the fly. UGA is too good to allow them 30 minutes of play before we adjust. We need to play to our strengths ie don't have Martinez try to go all air Brady. Use our running game and actually use, for once a lot of play action to try and slow their pursuit and screens to open up our running game. I am sure that they will stuff the box and bring the rain on every down. needs designed QB runs. Not zone option, but designed runs to let Martinez get that first step and hit the second level as they are coming by. Nothing slows a D like watching Martinez run past as they are downhill coming in. Need to mix coverage and send the house every play. Their OL is to big to expect our DL alone to get pressure. Need to make Murray feel heat early and often. He is too good to allow him to have time in the pocket. Our DB's are very good, but they can't cover for 10 seconds. Paps and Beck, back to them, need to have a game plan that forces UGA out of theirs. It seems so many times that we come out and immediately let the other team dictate to us. This has got to change. I would also like to see Beck get "cute". Double screen, RB pass etc.... Keep UGA off balance. Go up tempo and do not allow UGA to sub in D or get their packages in. Might mean we don't have the "perfect" group in, but have a series of plays we can use to up tempo and tire them out. Beck and Paps will need to call the game of their lives. 4 solid quarters for sure. We need to also limit ie no TO's. I would also like to see s steady diet of rotating backs. Again, keeps UGA off balance. Another thing we need to really avoid the big play. It seems like one big run ie Miller, Wisky part 2 or a big pass ie Hail Mary last year completely destroys our guys. Getting behind by the other team dinking and dunking doesn't seem to bother our guys, but a nut punch really seems to take them out. Lastly, coach to win. Do not coach to not lose. Go for it. Dare to be great. Go big or go home. To many times we start to press the gas and then back off. If we get them on the ropes, knock them out. Make it ugly. Do not allow them to get up. We have a shot. No moral victories. With your shield or on it!
  2. I notice you never hear any of the politicians, or media types, even saying what I've mentioned before, because it makes sense? Much in line with the current immigration policy. Use limited resources to deport those illegal aliens with criminal convictions or those that pose a threat to the US ie validated gang members, drug traffickers etc........ Use our limited resources to get guns out of the hands of criminals. Increase the penalty of being a convicted felon and possessing a firearm. Simply cross reference permits with NCIC. Would it be a labor intensive task? Absolutely, but wouldn't this be worth the time if we were trying to really stop violent crime? Look at Chicago, 500 murders this year. How about spending resources to go after the gang members doing this. You know, proactive enforcement at the problem. I don't think it would be that labor intensive. A piece of software can generate a list of cross references, and have someone then double check the list to avoid hassling someone with the same name as a criminal (another good reason to avoid naming a kid John Smith or the like) We need to do more proactive policing, but that means convincing people that they want to spend more tax money on it. And lately most communities have been cutting budgets for police departments. At some point people need to figure out that if you want things done, you need to pay for it. Agree 100%.

  4. The games do not cause violence. It was a study done by LTC Grossman that shows an increase in the number of persons' in combat who actively engage targets compared throughout our history. It basically says that the increase can be attributed to video games and a more realistic training environment. It doesn't make people more violent, but it does desensitize some people. It also stands to show how reaching this complete argument is. Let's blame everything, BUT the real issue. The person who goes off the deep end and kills another person. For the record, I am not against video games or movies. Iagree the SCOTUS opinion. Just as I am strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment and the Constitution as a whole. And to quote you, if you haven't read his book do't try to run opinions on it...........Just saying.
  5. And you give Martinez a step and you will be seeing how fast he is..................OR if Caveman gets a hold of your QB......Or Quince or Bell lay out your CB's with their blocking. UGA has no friggin idea what type of team they are about to meet on Tues. Don't let our blowout to Wisky be indicative of how we have played all year.
  6. 3 and out, you don't need conditioning. But he does have it, and every word out of your mouth is pure bullsh#t. He's a junior, been busting his ass and playing snaps for 3 years. Take your bullsh#t back to the Columbia asbestos factory. If you goatee nickleback m-f'rs spent half as much time improving your football tradition as you did trolling Georgia fans, you might have a program that you can be proud of. As it stands now, you have nothing to be proud of, just heckling nearby programs on the internet. Never been there, and sure as hell not acting like you have. Go stand on the corner with a bucket and collect donations for Lattimore's bionic knee. Start another rumor on Rivals about how awesome Clowney is going to be at tail back. Throw another kingfish in the frying pan. Didn't USC beat y'alls a$$ this year.................
  7. On another note, crime can not be stopped, but in some instances it can be deterred. It is no different than telling kids to not talk to strangers, not leaving a purse or cell phone in plain view in your car when shopping. Locking car doors, house and downing garage door and having an alarm company sign in your yard, leaving lights on etc.... These simple things do not stop crime, but they are deterrents. At schools, install one way in and one way out. Have a staff member at that entrance during open hours. Greet ie verbally challenge everyone who comes in. This let's people know that the school is alert for strangers and aware of people entering who shouldn't be there. External cameras monitored by the school. Alarm system that immediately notifies LEO of an active shooter. Have staff walk the exterior of building. ZERO TOLERANCE on bullying. Seems a lot of the shooters were bullied. Again, can't stop, but might help. Talk to the local PD and get off duty guys in there. Again, presence is a deterrent. Very few of these type incidents are a spur of the moment issue. They are pre-planned and staged ahead of time. Installing some of the above measures might make a person think twice. It also makes it harder for them to enter unimpeded.
  8. Just as you can not legislate morality ie abortion and gay marriage, you can not legislate evil away. The gov't now wants to pass MORE LAWS to punish people for BREAKING EXISTING laws. The shooter in CT murdered (against the law) his mother and then murdered (again against the law) the students and teachers. The weapons he used (lawfully purchased by his mother) were stolen (against the law). No one wants to admit that evil exists in this world. All the laws in the world, all the firearms restrictions would not have stopped this wack job. Taking guns, regardless of type, from those who can lawfully purchase them is ridiculous. Tighter checks, sure. Psych eval, sure. Complete a safety course and show competence to include shoot don't shoot, use of force continuum, sure. Permit renewal to make sure a owner hasn't been convicted of certain crimes that would have prevented initial ownership, sure. Allow quick check to cross reference various databases other than NCIC, sure. Require proof that the owner has a secure safe to store the weapons, sure. Make the person who has unsecured weapons civilly/criminally negligent for not securing them, sure. But to disallow the ability to lawfully possess and own, hell no. Another thing, if you are going to talk about gun control, please be aware that a "clip" goes in your hair and a magazine goes in a firearm. An AR-15 is not an assault rifle. It is a .223 or 5.56 caliber rifle. With a semi automatic rate of fire. No different than some magazine fed hunting rifles. A round no larger than a .22 caliber rifle. They are an "easy target" as they share similarities with the M-4. I also wonder if a ban goes into effect, how many American jobs will be lost. Not just the manufacturers, but those who make the after market accessories. Another area that will suffer will be the LEO and military community. Often the civilian market drives research that benefits the LEO and military. For example, the ban goes into effect. Rock River, Bravo Company USA, Noveske etc gear down and quit manufacturing and innovation (no demand why spend money to invent new and better products). Colt has the DOD contract. No competition. Less Quality control. Don't like it, open the bids back up. Oh wait, everyone else stopped making them. Gun control is a knee jerk reaction. No one wants to talk about involuntary committal. Most states, the person needs to be an articulable threat to themselves or others. The mindset to create harm and the means and ability to do it. How about some guy has "issues" he is committed until deemed ok? Let's ban abortion. That kills a lot of unborn children every year. Oh yea, that goes against some ones right to a choice. What about banning dating, marriage and civil unions? Domestic violence is huge. Ban jobs because of work place violence. Hell ban the subways in NY. 2 Deaths already. Ban cars, boats, cigarettes and prescription pain meds. Hell ban cell phones as they cause brain cancer. I sure don't hear anyone making a huge issue to go after video game manufacturers or Hollywood. Read LTC Grossman's book On Killing for an interesting take on video games and violence.
  9. I'm sure going to the same game again has something to do with this. Also when your defense gives up 70 points in the previous game would you be uber excited about it either? Point is a lot of people expect the same results as the BIG championship game and I personally am confident that it will be a well fought close game. This team is going to come out with the something to prove mentality and play with a purpose. Sorry if I won't be one of the few that just lays down and crowns them the winner before the game starts. I'm all for having a little fun and a good discussion with the Bulldog fans but don't be surprised if I don't exactly see eye to eye with their point of view. And then add in the fact that Nebraska is in the Midwest and Georgia is the state next to Florida, where the bowl game is.... If anything, I'm sure that has the most to do with ticket sale discrepancies. Or the fact the even "away" games for UGA are an easy drive away save for Mizzou this year. NU has proven that they travel and travel well, but I would guess the distance, 2nd year to the same bowl, traveling to the B1G CC game and the pending fiscal cliff might also have something to do with it as well. I still hope that the team is not as scared of UGA as some fans on this board......................
  10. What did he say that will get them fired up? That Georgia's D is good because it is comparable to the rest of the stout defense's in the B1G?... Ouch, what an insult. He called them a "typical Big1G defense." Statistically, that might be accurate, they'd be 5th in Total Defense in the Big1G. However, if there was any team that responded to "words" well this season, it was UGA. Sheldon Richardson from mizzou called them out and said they play "old man football." Jarvis Jones then proceeded to eat their lunch that game. Then their safety, Shawn Williams, called the whole defense out as, "playing soft," and they had their best defensive game against Florida. This is a team with a ton of talent, that has had motivation problems for part of the season. They just lost their best shot at a MNC in 32 years, they have a bunch of players going pro and it's not even a BCS game, so their projected effort was questionable. The word, "typical" is rarely if ever used as a compliment. So why give these guys any bulletin board material to get them fired up? Bulletin board material is way over rated. Emotions might last for a series or 2 and then it comes down to the Jimmies and Joes. Nothing more, nothing less. And if those comments get them "fired up", they need to learn to get some thicker skin................ And for the record, Michigan State's D is #5 overall and UGA's is 27th. IIRC, it was in ref to MSU D. Seems like a compliment, but I guess that went over their heads...............
  11. To all the UGA fans here. Your last NC, 1980. Ours 1997. Your other one was like in 1942. Your Hypesman winners 2. We have 3. Of course our last one won when at least kids who are playing today were alive. Yours 1982. Ours 2001. We have 5 NC, You have 2. You have 14 conference championships we have 46. We have 2 college football awards named after Huskers. You have 0 You have 24 consensus AA, we have 53. ESPN top 10 football teams of all time. UGA 0, NU 2. NU top 10 winningest programs in college, UGA no. What were y'all saying about your great and storied program again................ Please come back when you have a program as successful as ours.
  12. I am not buying into this SEC is the end all BS. They can be beat. Baker was a good DT for us. I don't care how "good" you are, losing a starter, who is 2nd all SEC team is going to hurt. Who all has UGA beat? FL and who? Lost to Bama, USC, struggled with KY and UT. By some accounts on this board, we should just forfeit and go home. Save our guys from being hurt by the big bad SEC.
  13. Nebraska losing one player on it's defensive front killed our defense against Wiscy. I don't think the importance of a dominant NT should be underestimated. This^. Baker hurt us tremendously. Like Crick the year before, Fonzie in the secondary etc..... Don't compare Baker to their NT. don't compare Baker to their backup NT. Both would smack him around Baker 47 tackles with 7 TFL, Jenkins 50 tackles with 2.5 TFL. Don't think he would be smacked around. Oh, Baker also gives up like 60 lbs to those guys. Not bad. Both 2nd team in their respective conferences...........

  15. CFB stats showing 37 total tackles with 5 being TFL. 15 solo and 22 assists. Unsure about the draft part, but hard to tell is there is a real "drop off" in production or stats are lower as he is not a starter. I still can't help but think losing a starter has got to impact them negatively to a degree. The sad thing is Geathers is bigger. Would be nice if we had the depth to not have to send a DE inside as a DT.
  16. At 6'3........ Looks like a fire plug. IMO, would be hard to get under his pads.
  17. IIRC, 2nd team SEC. Seems it is the "equivalent" of losing 2nd B1G team Baker. That turned out pretty crappy for us. Jenkins had 50 tackles with 2 TFL. Stein had 47 tackles with 7 TFL. Stein 290, Jenkins 358........... Hopefully it creates some positive results for us.
  18. Starting UGA nose guard, all 358 lbs of him, is unable to play in the bowl game for academic reasons. I would like to think this will help our chances. As previously stated, I really hope Beck runs the ball down their throats and doesn't quit if it is not going in the first series. Wear them out, up tempo and pound, pound, pound the rock. Of course, as they have depth, his replacement is 6'6 and 350 lbs............ http://dogbytesonlin...cademics-66363/
  19. Really!? Damn... If this is true, those guys wouldn't travel. No way. Game or not, that quitter mentality needs to be cut away and jettisoned. You think Peter, Wistrom. Brown, Miles, Minter (name your fave Huskers) ever thought that crap. If true, this is a program that will never win a conference or MNC................... Let me also add the obligatory source?
  20. From a UGA fan and friend of mine. Richts is taking heat from their fans for allowing seniors and guys coming out early to have a curfew of 3 a.m. All others have a midnight curfew. He also said it is being reported that guys who are going into the combine/entering draft will only be playing a quarter so as to lessen their chances of injury. Bottom line, the opinion appears from their side this game means nothing. It was a "consolation prize" that the team is now using to enjoy a deserved break. I hope we come out and punch them in the mouth. Run it down their throat and leave them with a a$$ whoopin. Merry Christmas!
  21. We had better just forfeit right now huh... From what I remember, we moved the ball well against SC last year, and their D was probably just as fast or faster than UGA's is. And our offense is more explosive now than it was last year. We will be fine. Nor have they seen a QB as quick as Martinez. There is NO ONE on their D who can catch that kid in the open field. Really unsure if there is even a player in the BCS that can chase him down when he is 100% healthy. I really hope that Beck draws up some designed QB runs. We have rarely seen this all year. I think that would keep their quick DL and LB's honest. They crash and he runs right past. I am actually thinking we match up very well.
  22. But what you have to realize is that Nebraska set the standard in TO's days for what a great strength and conditioning program looks like. He also ran practices in a unique and efficient way. Today, everyone else in the nation has advanced and caught up in the strength and conditioning area. Nebraska still has some of the best facilities in the nation, and there has continually been commitment to keeping it that way. Not only in football but other sports as well. To me, where Bo's team stands out as different than other programs/coaches is the family atmosphere. That's the thing that so many of the recruits and their parents comment on when they speak with Bo or his assistants. They continually say that he is a down-to-earth guy, he tells every recruit that they won't have any promises, but they have an opportunity to play early if they earn it. The reason that we aren't necessarily blowing recruiting out of the water is because this is Nebraska. When you talk to people in the south, west, or east, they view Nebraska as a big corn field with a university in the middle. That's partly true, but a lot of big city kids refuse to even consider us because of that perception. Or they say it's too cold here. It's just difficult to make a splash in recruiting at Nebraska, whether you choose to believe it or not. With that said, I am more than pleased with last year's class already, and most of those kids haven't seen the field yet. And I have a feeling that this year's class will be the best one Bo has had since he has been here. Sorry, but the bolded part is total bs. It's hard to recruit here because Bo is choosing not to recruit during the seasons just like Frank did. It got Frank fired and it will eventually get Bo fired. You get the kids to change their mind by getting them here during the season and showing them that there is more here than a "big corn field." A good example was last year Bo only used 25 of the 55 official visits he was allowed, there is no excuse for that. And unless Bo starts to take recruiting seriously year round, he and the program will not be any better than they are now and that is a second tier B1G program. This years class is nothing special and if Bo doesn't have a big finish, then it will be a poor class with all of the spots remaining and with all of the strikeouts he's had since the embarrassment in Indy. We all know that Bo is not a dumb man and can coach, but if you don't get the players here to compete at this level, then it doesn't matter how good your schemes are, the better athletes will win. Nebraska fans need to get over the "feelgood" stories of the walk on program because walk on's don't win championships. 3 walk-ons starting on the OL does not get you championships. Name me a team that has that many starting. Not on the team, but in one friggin spot ie OL. This shows a glaring lack of development or a complete bust in recruiting as we have 20+ OL on scholarship. I agree 100% with your above post.
  23. This^. We seem to well when coming from behind as evidenced by our 5 (IIRC) come from behind wins. When the O, simply breaks on huge play for 6 it kills the D and they crap themselves for the rest of the game ie OSU, Wisky in the CCG, USC hail mary etc.... Come from behind yes, but when a team puts up a highlight reel TD we seem to fold. If UGA gets 6 on some crazy long run or pass, based upon the past, our D will collapse and be unable to recover.
  24. Beck, IMO, has been as Jekyll and Hyde as this whole team. There is no way I could even predict what beck will do. To date, he shown the ability to call good plays and those that cause our destruction. I would hope that he would attack them with the run to include designed QB runs. Not reads, but actual runs. GA has yet to see the likes of a QB with the downhill speed of Martinez. Exploit that early and often. For once, come out and force a team out of their game plan from the start. I am sick of hearing how "they (other team) threw some things out that we were not expecting so it took a while to adjust". (Beck made this comment several weeks ago when asked about our slow starts) Their DL and LB's are too good to try and sit Martinez back in the pocket. I hope that Beck sees the need to actually break out the screen and misdirection plays. GA's speed seems they would be susceptible to misdirection. Beck will need to call a great game from start to finish to our strengths and against theirs.
