  1. At least we get extra time to practice. Maybe Beck will come up with a new game plan and Paps will realize that GA is already game planning to run all over us on the edges. #29 should have a field take from his DE/LB spot. Imagine that, using an athlete in both spots........ Go with youth. Get the young guys tons of reps and plan to use this "speed". Right now I predict they could hang 100 on us if they wanted to. Our D staff, save Joseph, appears completely inept. Of course facing the number 2 QB in the nation might make me change my opinion. Can't roll the safeties us because we will need the coverage across the top. I really hope we win. I do not think we will, but it will be a great measuring stick to let us know where we really are. GA is no slouch team.
  2. If experience is the answer to our problems, then wouldn't logic hold that the more experienced this staff gets, the better they'll get? Therefore, perhaps the best thing to do is to keep everyone in the same position so they keep gaining experience? How many head coaches with more experience would we be able to hire right now? The gist was that we have no one with any real experience. IIRC, Paps was a grad assistant in 2007 with Bo and then followed him to NU. The dude is now the DC. Glorified title or not. That happens like no where. Beck was the passing coordinator at KU. What exactly is that? When he was the RB coach did he really develop anyone? Helu and Rex and then.........nobody. No depth. No one ready the next year save Rex. Els. None Brown, tons Cotton, couldn't tell by looking at his product, but again is his experience in what we want to run. Garrison, no Fish, no, but an incredibly bright spot. Joseph, yes coached with Bo at LSU (Grad asst and has coached secondary since 2007) You need to get young guys in and grow them. My point, is there anyone on this staff that even has enough experience to teach anyone? Players and/or staff. We are too young (inexperienced) from top to bottom.
  3. This^. Not keeping up to their standards, fired. We continue the same crap and truly expect different results.
  4. To paraphrase Paps Wisky exploited the edge. We struggled with this all year. Hey Paps, that is you are hired to do. Be the DC. EPIC FAIL. You realized all season we had an issue and did nothing to fix it before or during the game. Pack your bags........
  5. Audible into a QB run and let our OL just run forward. Beck pissed himself when they went to that set. IMO, the toss and QB draw was open all night iwth that backyard crap. Or Power I with Rex and Cross. Run right into the mouth of that crap and knock em on their a$$. We DID NOTHING last night that leads me to believe beck or Paps have any clue about how to adjust That's what I was thinking. If we would of ran it right at them or ran a damn SCREEN (Beck, cough cough) we could have busted it big. How they lined up was basically like having their DT's lined up 5 to 6 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Major for Beck this game. Again, like all season in big games, Beck pees his pants. That crap D scheme was ours for the picking last night, but he was so fixated on pocket passing to think about screens, or PA or power or draws or toss sweeps etc............
  6. Here is the problem in a nut shell. How many of you at work are in a management or supervisory position. Or even "senior" in your current job. How many of you are brand new and starting out? Bottom line, companies are staffed with experienced people. Law Enforcement and the military the same way. A brand new corporal can go the Sgt for advise, based upon years of experience. Same with a brand new Lt, go to the Cpt or Maj etc....... This staff, BO included have no one to go to. Theoretically, people know who has experience and who they can go to for advise and wise counsel. I can assure you, under TO, if a team came out with some crazy game plan ie Wisky, McBride and Co would have adjusted. Why? Experience. Would TO have shifted to a different O to counter. Absoulutely. Why? Experience. Do teams with experienced coaches do better with less? Yes, IMO. Why. They do not have to try and learn and teach and implement. They already know their job. They do not have to learn it on the fly and try to teach and coach kids up at the same time. I would guess that Beck/Paps/Els spend the majority of their time trying to "learn" their jobs leaving less time to teach. has Martinez improved? Yes. Why? He hired a coach to help him. beck and Co to busy to teach OUR QB how to get better. This should be a huge red flag that guys are in over their heads. Experience brings a sense of calm to those around them under fire. Paps and Beck look to Bo for answers and he, based on lack of experience, really had none. Joseph looks to Paps, hell Els look to Paps and same result. Cotton, who has never coached the spread looks to Beck, with less experience and gets no answer. Garrison, former Husker, has never coached spread. He looks to Beck and again, no answers. Last night showed, not a lack of talent (Bell, Enunwa, Rex, AA, Martinez, Reed etc, Evans, Compton, Stafford) but a complete failure on the experience of this staff. They had no answers across the board for anything. Had no experience to fall back on. No, oh I have been here or seen this before. Just shell shocked and lost.
  7. That Borland sure is a class act...........
  8. Audible into a QB run and let our OL just run forward. Beck pissed himself when they went to that set. IMO, the toss and QB draw was open all night iwth that backyard crap. Or Power I with Rex and Cross. Run right into the mouth of that crap and knock em on their a$$. We DID NOTHING last night that leads me to believe beck or Paps have any clue about how to adjust
  9. Surprised we are even ranked. Won't be after the bowl. 10-4 and unranked. Awesome. Like to see the coaches poll.
  10. I am still shocked. They flat out beat us like I have never seen before in 30+ years of watching NU play. We had absolutely no answer. no adjustments. No counter and worst of all, no heart or will.
  11. Great block. Plain and simple. I wish they could bottle his attitude and make the majority of the team drink it before games.
  12. I would give a raise to Brown. He has developed all four as guys who can come in and contribute. Unsure if he is the guy that actually says who will play.
  13. Its not talent alone. Less talented teams do better than we do. And this crew can't get the elite talent, and can't out coach the other guy to make up the difference. This^. I would like to see a guy this staff recruited that we actually developed into a better than advertised player.
  14. Year 5, WE SHOULDN'T STILL BE COMPLAINING THAT GUYS ARE MISSING TACKLES. Poor recruiting or poor coaching. Either way, that is on this staff. We were flat out curb stomped last night. No amount of excuses can fix this. They kicked our a$$es up and down the field for 4 quarters. 500+ yrds rushing. 3 guys over 100, 2 had over 200 yrds................. 10 wins. Right. Last night showed we caught some serious breaks to get the wins, Wisky proved they were on the horrific end of the chart and shoould be 10-2. I could give 2 craps about 10 wins. We were not even in the same realm last night with Wisky.
  15. There were so man glaring issues last night, I do not even know where to start. Sadly so much of it was the simple basics ie pursuit angle, tackling, fumbling ....... Still shaking my head in disbelief.
  16. I think there is some OL talent present from our recruiting classes. It's just that they are not being developed as they should be. After 5 years under Bo's tenure I see some progress, but too liitle too late. Garrison has helped some, but Barney is a boat anchor for us at this position. We will never be consistent or develop talent in the players as it should be in the trenches under his guidance. The biggest issue being the S&C our line doesn't look big and mean. They look fluffy. There is a S/C problem with both lines. The staff knows this and it will be looked at in the off season. With that being said, Barny is a doofus and needs to go. He has never been even an average coach. The "nebraska way" good old boy school of thought needs to stop protecting guys like this. Beck had to take over the scheming and calling of the OLs from him and that was the improvement that you saw. The problem was that he made it as simple as he could and our OL still couldn't execute. That is a recruiting problem, and that falls on Barney too. But by playing three walk ons's highlights that problem without much in depth analysis needed. For you people that like to blame Beck for our problems (I don't understand it when it's Bo's defense that has let us down all year) but he's interviewing for the UTEP job this week. Beck goes to UTEP, i will not complain one bit. Only downside is we hire some other guy with even less experience
  17. Despite Wisconsin putting it on film all year, I can understand a Bo Pelini coached team not being prepared for it coming into the game. This is a Bo Pelini coached team, after all. But after the first couple times they had staggering success with it, you'd think our staff would realize that maybe they'd run it again? Maybe attempt to adjust to it at some point? Perhaps I should temper my expectations. This is what I find comical with our staff. An offensive play does well and the opponent continues to run it. We find a play or formation that works consistently when ran and don't use it again because the defense will expect it! The diamond formation always works and we rarely see it No diamond, no toss sweep, no making their LB's go side line to side line. We just went full stupid in that game on both sides of the ball.
  18. This^. We run the same play, against our O defense in practice. I can see getting caught once, but for an entire game. Really? No one thought to say, hey Paps or Bo, we might want to have the DE go up field, you know, try and turn the RB into pursuit instead of getting the edge for 6 like they have the past 3 times....... Incompetence.
  19. I just threw up in my mouth a little. People still thinks this staff knows what they are doing?
  20. Cardinal rule of D that I learned in 3rd grade. Don't let the O get the edge, don't get burned deep. no one behind the secondary and turn the runner back towards pursuit. Amateur hour last night. Still shaking my head in disbelief.
  21. He needs to fire some folks. Teach? Really? Penalties for 5 years, led the nation in fumbles for 3 yrs BY 1 PLAYER, can't tackle. Again, teach? He is the coach at Nebraska. No coach here SHOULD EVER have to explain away an a$$ kicking like we took last night.
  22. And we did absolutely nothing to try and stop it. NOTHING. That is what was killing me. If I can see the play coming, why can't our great DC or defensive guru Bo. Sweep left for 6, sweep right for 6, wildcat for 6..................Pathetic.
  23. We all know Martinez fumbles, we all seem to agree that he gets "the deer in the headlights" look in big games. So what have we all suggested....... Settle him down, run the ball, give him some high % throws to make. What does Beck do? Sit in the pocket, behind a pathetic OL against Wisky's sand lot D and expect him to be Tom Brady. Martinez isn't the greatest, but he does win games. Beck's play calling, IMO, again put us in a hole and then he needed Martinez to have to throw the ball to try and come back. Ineptitude running rampant. Not to mention the D couldn't catch a cold last night.
  24. After the most embarrassing loss in most of our recruits short lives, on national tv, to a 7-5 team with a 3rd string QB I am sure we are about to take a hit. Funny, now people point to Wisky's record and say they were a break or two away from being 10-2 or better, much better team than their record, hell we were a break or 2 away from being 6-6. After last night, obviously much worse than ours. I am still ticked about how out coached we were. It was as if this was the first game our staff had ever coached. We looked like some Div II school out there. Pathetic.
  25. I support the Huskers, win, lose or draw. It makes me no less of a fan to demand more. We lead the nation in fumbles. By our QB! Almost 50% of the points we have given up this year are the direct result of our fumbles. This does not include INTs. Last night, we displayed the most pathetic performance I can remember. We were out coached, out played, out schemed and had no answer at all for Wisconsin. That is pathetic. That is coaching. Folks are delusional to think we are going to beat an SEC team in a bowl. We lost to a 7-5 team that was starting its 3rd string QB. Think about that. Their 3rd string QB. Like all season we failed to get pressure. We failed to adjust and we failed to have a game plan. Borland WWE's Martinez and our lineman do nothing. NO yelling, pushing, defending him etc.....Back in the day, Borland would have been ear holed right then and there. Wisky came out and defensively showed us things we hadn't seen all year. Beck, craps his pants and puts Martinez in the pocket all night. Did absolutely nothing to counter any of their schemes. He can pack his stuff and go learn at a Div II school. Paps had no answer for the simplest of schemes they ran. He too can pack his bags and get some training elsewhere. Els, please pack up and go. I saw a team that was punched in the mouth in the first series looking to their coaches for guidance and got none. I saw coaches that had no answer. We are fundamentally poor, tackling, missed assignments etc.... Bo refuses to abandon the 2 gap. recruits kids who need to be developed. Take a page from Stoops and only recruit guys who can contribute on day one. Prior to last night, I bought into and even sold the crap that was our staff. I am done. There needs to be some serious movement in this staff. The only two that have even showed a consistent product is Fish, Joseph and Brown. All the pre-season crap is great ie THE PROGRAM. But I assure you that the gentleman teaching the program, Former Recon Marine IIRC, was a solid Marine, competent in all phases before he was allowed to go to Recon. Our guys talk and try all these things, but can't even perform at the basic level of a player (not all, but some). This staff has little to no experience at this level. I am sick of seeing the crap product that gets rolled out against great competition and we lose. OSU, Wisky, steam rolled, embarrassed, lit us up. You think recruiting was hard before. I can imagine how it will be after last night. Where was our vaunted running game. Quick screens, misdirection, PA etc.....Beck just dropped back and tried to throw. No toss sweeps, diamond, I (4th quarter with Cross for a TD) etc...... Stupid. I am tired of 5 years of winning and losing game sin a dramatic fashion. Most yards given up, most points, most fumble etc......... You can't fire a 10 win coach, but you sure as hell can fire his inept staff............
