  1. Trump Administration priority, editing the PHE website to avoid fact-checking and further embarrassment.
  2. Jared Kushner and Bill Barr have been stumping for Trump at pandemic press conferences, while Dr. Fauci has been absent. That tells you all you need to know about this admin.
  3. Dr. Anthony Fauci on some states still not issuing stay-at-home orders: "I don't understand why that's not happening. … If you look at what's going on in this country, I just don't understand why we're not doing that. We really should be." Guessing Ricketts has to act now.

@Enhance pretty much nailed it. Right now, we have soft recommendations or guidance. Such an Order would provide some teeth.

From most other states' "shelter-in-place" orders I've seen, you're supposed to stay in unless going to the doctor, grocery store, pharmacy, or "essential businesses, " etc. So, for example, my law firm would implement WFH (and finally send our 90-year-old receptionist home), 30 kids wouldn't be playing in the park across from my house, and my subdivision neighbors wouldn't commission a taco truck and drink/socialize 30-deep in their driveways. :bang

Having some states with stay-at-home orders and some states without them is like having a peeing section at the pool.

People would still pack the local Walmart.   Which is pretty much the only thing happening now.

  4. Will this wake Ricketts up? While the Trump Administration itself drags its feet, these kind of Dr. Fauci announcements are what prompted the initial shutdowns on gatherings.
  5. My parents and sister live in Kansas City, KS suburbs. Their city/county restrictions have been much more proactive there than NE/IA metros. They were "shelter-in-place" starting two weeks ago. And their Governor imposed that state-wide this week. We're far behind.
  6. Omaha here. My mid-size law firm is still running normally, including a 90-year-old receptionist. A few attorneys made decisions to WFH, including me, for their own reasons (kids home, recent travelling, pregnancy, etc.). My immediate family is taking it much more seriously than the city, county, and state restrictions which are way behind the national curve.
  7. Not exactly good company. WV, Idaho, Hawaii, Maine, Montana, RI, Delaware, Alaska, and Vermont all have less population than us yet have ordered sheltered in place. Above us on that state population list, NM, MS don't have metropolitans as big as Omaha. We're barely mitigating here, and I fear our peak is going to be bad. I'm already hearing anecdotal horror stories from family working in the Omaha hospitals.
  8. And Senators had time to unload millions of dollars in stocks, so let’s just cut this BS now.
  9. Seoul has 9.7M people... they are at 38 m elevation! A minority of this country nominated an absolute idiot, and he’s in charge of our pandemic response. God help us.
  10. Saying the quiet part out loud again; this is why Republicans' policy includes voter suppression.
  11. 15 and soon to be zero... Back open by Easter... He can’t move the goalposts any farther.
  12. I think they’d actually be higher. I stopped tuning in when they muzzled Dr. Fauci. I don’t want a KKKampaign rally, I want important information from credible experts.
  13. It’s grotesque and indefensible, but I’m sure @Notre Dame Joe @Redux et al will be here soon enough trying their best.
  14. Kellyanne Conway, Sarah Huckabee-Sanders, Stephanie Grisham, et al get paid to spin BS, lie, and rationalize Trump's despicable actions. Why do some feel compelled to do it for free!?!
  15. “Open ended optimism,” that’s a new way to try to defend and whitewash Trump’s lies. Congratulations on your creativity.
  16. Steph Curry is doing a livestream with Dr. Fauci today. I do think my generation (Millennials) is taking this seriously for the most part, but stuff like that will help educate. I've experienced much more ignorance with the older generations. My (diabetic) dad in KC is out and about. My Omaha law firm partners that make the decisions still downplay it as a hoax and have all our staff (including a 90 year old receptionist) in every day, while me and most of my vintage attorneys are working from home.
