  1. I haven't done any screenshots for SMiss yet but here's the video: My take: He definitely should have cut up instead of hesitating but it's not as obvious as it looks like from the screen grab posted earlier. The hole didn't start to open up until Newby was past it so it was pretty tough to see. Also, we run too much of this straight forward, slow developing outside zone play. Edit: for some reason I can't get the video to jump to the exact spot. The play is right after the replay.
  2. You're talking about our FG attempt right at the end of the game, right? This is not correct.
  3. I thought the story was Zook was a great recruiter...
  4. - We have no Plan B in the defensive playbook - (Supposedly) "Stopping the run" is only helpful if there is at least some effort to also stop the pass. We are currently giving up 453 yards per game. The last four years it's been 373, 371, 361 and 351. So we're currently giving up more passing yards per game (379) than we've given up total yards per game in the last four seasons. We haven't just gone to the other end of the spectrum, we've gone to the end and off the chart. - The excuse that we've faced passing teams doesn't matter a whole lot when we're #114 in the country in passing yards per attempt allowed. - If we were giving up HALF as many passing yards per game as we currently are, we'd still be a middling #40 in the country. - It's not Daniel Davie's fault. However... - Freedom is going to be a beast - Brown has been impressive kicking. Not only making the five FGs in the first half but had plently of leg on the 50+ yarder that he missed and gets quite a few touchbacks on kickoffs.
  5. IMO, Newby isn't going to get it done in conference play against the DL's of the B1G. He looks for the outside lane, has happy feet, slow to accelerate after a cut and runs high..... I do not think the coach has faith enough in any back to lean on the running back. It seems we only run 2 plays in a row at the most. I've had the same complaints about Newby but I will give him credit that he definitely had a different mind-set on his last few carries Saturday. Really looked to me like someone grabbed him by the facemask and told him to get his @$$ up the filed. On the last few carrier but basically just put his head down and plowed forward until he ran into someone. Now that's to far to the other extreme but hopefully he learns from it.
  6. Did he have to give up an extra year to be at TCU? Not sure he would have redshirted had he stayed. That's unusual for a guy who doesn't do it as a freshman, so we might've lost him by now anyway. This is probably the most successful Husker transfer we've seen in recent years. Good for him. He was actually asked by the coaches to redshirt his first year here and declined. So you are correct that it is very unlikely that he would have done so later on. He would have been out of eligibility last year in all likelihood.
  7. He's the (disappointing/sad/maddening) part for me: There is a lot of talk about "we're built to stop the run", "we won't see so many passing offenses in the B1G", etc. Banker was a DC in probably the most pass-happy conference for the previous 12 years. It's not like he's never seen teams that throw the ball before. The fact that he is unwilling/unable to make any scheme adjustments doesn't speak highly for his ability as a DC. And it kind of shoots down all the "these coaches have experience" and "these coaches make adjustments" arguments that we've been sold for the last 9 months. At least as far as the defense is concerned.
  8. Mainly the usual reports from Elliott. Liked his visit. Talked with Hughes a lot. Impressed with our crowd. Set to OV to Oklahoma on November 20. Also looking to visit USC, Texas, and Michigan.
  9. 5 catches for 50 yards for Enunwa today. Both career highs.
  10. "On a roll" may be a stretch. But at least holding their own. It didn't seem to me like the B1G was doing this well. So I guess that's a plus. https://twitter.com/MatthewSvoboda/status/647972908195815425

  12. This is nuts. Better question: Has it EVER happened before? 10/17, 83 yards passing 18 carries for 136 yards 1 reception for 58 yards and a TD
  13. The Game - Pick one B1G football team to win each week. If you pick a team that loses, you're out The Catch - You can only pick each team once per year The Prize - Bragging rights and the admiration of all your friends Post you pick before kickoff of that team's game. There are basically only conference games left but just in case, you can only pick a winner for a game between two B1G teams. You don't need to save a team for the CCG.

  16. And the 51 yarder had plenty of leg on it. Would have been good from at least 6-7 yards longer ... assuming it was between the uprights, of course.

    Freedom!

Followed up a 6 tackle, one sack performance with a four tackle, two sack performance. I think we may have something here. He currently has 14 tackles and 4.0 sacks through four games. One sack per game is awfully good so hopefully he can keep the pressure up. He obviously sealed the game yesterday but he may have actually saved us. They needed a TD and a two point conversion just to force OT but they were in a pretty good spot with their tall WR single covered down the left side. That was going to be a Hail Mary to the end zone if Freedom gets there another second later.
