Neither did DPE. Now, not even 1 out of every 10 3* will end up like him. But it's possible. Why I don't like star rankings or even offers. If you watched the kid's film, there were a ton of people talking about how special he was going to be before he got here. Yes. There are exceptions. There probably will be in these guys this year. A lot of people were pretty exited for Jamal Turner as well but that hasn't panned out. There are success stories and failures using every method. But we have quite a few long shots at the moment.

I'll go with: QB - Stanton RB - Cross -or- Taylor FB - Janovich OT - Streup, Lewis OG - Price, Kondolo C - Reeves DT - Valentine, Collins DE - McMullen, Gangwish LB - Banderas, Rose, Santos CB - Davie, Jackson S - Gerry, Alexander So that's three on offense who didn't start at all (counting Janovich) and two on defense, both of whom were unavailable last year.

We have two four-star OLinemen committed for next year but they are both guards. We are sitting good with a four-star tackle but it's a long time to NSD. With a bigger class next year and losing six OLinemen, I would think a JUCO OT would be a great option.

Just to be clear, I'm not complaining about the staff. I think they did about as well as they could given the limited time. Grabbed positions of need and guys who have potential. But I don't see anything outstanding - unless Barnett plays to his original ranking. It's not like we were stealing guys that Alabama, Ohio State, USC, etc. were after. Yeah, some of them looked to have some good offers but reported offers don't mean a whole lot. If you knew for sure which offers were committable, that would be a different story. But looking at who most of these guys were committed to or who they were deciding between and you see that we were almost always their best offer - and usually by quite a ways.

Soph Dwayne Johnson originally came in as a tackle - not sure if he's been moved. Gotta think Gates goes back outside, especially with four freshmen guards this fall (RS and true).

Sounds like those speculating about the Polynesian connections are correct. It actually came down to Utah (obviously) and Nebraska - surprisingly not Oregon. His long-time connection with Cav and really liking Philipp helped our case but couldn't overcome the larger community at Utah. Plus, there was always speculation that he wouldn't get too far from home.

Seems like the confusion was over whether the four early-enrollees were included in that number or not. The interview came after they were enrolled. Most people would still consider them in the total number but for whatever reason it seems like they meant "19 more."

I think we would, especially after missing out on Paulo.

Interesting that 247 - who I think does the best job of staying up on things - didn't even show an offer.
