  1. What is there to be bitter about? Outside of a wonderful summer vacation at a lovely island just south of Beaufort I've never had the misfortune of being stuck in South Carolina for long periods of time. I'm mostly bemused by the reaction of the college football world over the past year and a half. If you haven't noticed most Buckeye fans are primarily the ones laughing at the bitter reaction of everyone else right now as they try to rationalize away the Meyer hiring. Despite a season in hell Buckeye fans are giddy not bitter. Yes yes South Carolina's proudest moment came during the last period when the Buckeyes were in disarray during a coaching transition. Huzzah for you. Independence, Liberty, PapaJohns & Chick-Fil-A. It's been quite a run for you fellas since hasn't it? To keep things on topic let's just recap... Ohio State self imposed a loss of 5 scholarships (among other penalties) over a scandal that revolved around $2,500 in impermissible benefits. Boise State lost 9 scholarships over impermissible sleeping arrangements (essentially someone's couch) that totaled around $5,000. South Carolina has decided that 6 scholarships is an appropriate punishment for impermissible sleeping arrangements that come out to $47,000. A bit apples to oranges? Sure (especially the Ohio State case as the scholarship reductions are more about Coach Tressel's failure than that of the players) but it still is an interesting illustration as one of the decimal points seem to be in the wrong place.
  2. So they falsely accused themselves? Did they hire Sandusky's attorney?
  3. There was a lot of talk about him for the Ohio State position. Heater is a fine DC and would be a great asset if you guys could pick him up. Yeah but in all fairness they they did completely shut down Joe Bauserman.
  4. As an Ohio State fan I'm just glad that in the interest of equal coverage ESPN will be dedicating several hours of programming each day over the next year to making sure that justice is served, Spurrier is fired & the Gamecocks receive the death penalty. Why are you all laughing?
  5. To be honest it's about the mildest thing you'll ever hear about happening in the pile. I was fully expected to read that Dietrich-Smith was busy trying to remove one of Suh's testicles as a souvenir.
  6. Looks like Withers to Ohio State is official.
  7. Well as good as can be expected anyways. *blech* Kinda glad I missed that. Weis is just an execrable human being. LOL
  8. And Bobby said something mean about them is a sign of the conspiracy. I'm guessing they've never taken the time to listen to Coach Knight talk about ANY other school he was facing.
  9. Everything Sandusky & his attorney have done so far has been bizarre to me.
  10. For those interested in seeing first hand, Penn State fans are presenting their evidence of the Big Ten conspiracy against them on the Rivals forum. Riveting stuff.
  11. Apples & Oranges. Ohio State is also losing scholi's, had multiple players suspended and vacated an entire season as direct penalties leveled by the NCAA (that of course doesn't include the indirect penalties that resulted in this season's results or losing a number of players who likely would have ended up in Columbus). Schutt switching from Penn State is official now as well. Interesting in that the two situations are so different. Se'Von is a huge Buckeye fan who made his verbal to Sparty in the wake of everything going on last spring/summer but has been trending back towards Ohio State for awhile (even before Meyer). Schutt was definite to Penn State until everything started falling apart in Happy Valley due to their scandal. Dodson is a lot like Se'Von...grew up a Buckeye fan but started looking elsewhere when the future looked uncertain, although prior to the hiring of Meyer there wasn't the same talk about rapprochement with Ohio State as there was with Pittman.
  12. The evil empires unite. I actually had tickets to the game also and was planning on taking my grandfather (by marriage). He's a huge Kansas fan and is nearing the end of his days so I wanted to do something special for him. Unfortunately a trip to the hospital scuttled the plan. He passed out in the yard while walking the dog the night before. Luckily he's doing fine but it was a scare.
  13. The Rose Bowl payout was also good bit more than any of it's competitors at the time.
  14. Penn State fans seem to honestly believe all the charges against Sandusky are going to be dropped, Paterno will return as coach and that everyone owes THEM an apology. Look up random pictures of Penn State fans, grab a screen cap of the from the kid in Deliverance to refresh your memory and then compare how close together the eyes of the various individuals are. It's eerie. Nah. Wait for their fans to try & force the school to leave the conference and then after they're gone gently remind them that Penn State's media rights belong to the Big Ten Network for the next generation or so.
  15. All signs in Buckeyeland point to McMullen being very solid to Nebraska. You guys really have nothing to worry about here. He's just not the kind of kid to play games.
  16. I doubt a 7-5 season as well unless some teams improve a lot more than I see right now. There's no way Wisconsin is going 3-5 in the conference with Illinois, Purdue, Minnesota & Indiana on the schedule.
  17. A brand new head coach who if nothing else brings stability, focus & leadership to a team that was a completely lacking it in 2011? A second year starting QB who beat Wisconsin's arguably best team in over a decade as a rookie? A team following up a 6-6 season that didn't lose by more than a TD to a single conference team? Yes quite frankly I see Ohio State steam rolling most of the Big Ten, and as B-rent pointed out I never stated it was a definite Ohio State victory I just found it laughable to see it inked in as a probable Wisconsin one. For me it's pretty simple ... the 2012 Buckeyes are going to be a much better team than the 2011 version while the 2012 Badgers are going to take a step back. It's silly to think Wisconsin would have a much easier time in 2012 than in 2011. That being said Wisconsin's penchant for running up the score against the South Dakota, UNLV, Indiana & Minnesota's of the world doesn't concern me in the least. Bielema's insecurity issues are his own cross to bear.
  18. Ohio State is 2-2 in the last four games in Wisconsin. Not exactly a huge home field advantage for the Badgers. Wisconsin has actually had more success in Columbus against the Buckeyes than they have at home. Basketball results are completely meaningless.
  19. The Badgers couldn't beat an Ohio State team in complete disarray this year. Next year you lose 11 seniors including Wilson and you see that as a probable win? Just what exactly are they putting in Milwaukee's Best these days?
  20. Florida, Georgia & Vandy are the only SEC teams that don't oversign. Auburn, Mississippi St., South Carolina, Arkansas, Ole Miss & Bama are the worst offenders. ie The top academic institutions in the conference. Ok, I was giving the conference more credit than it deserved. Do any Big XII,ACC or Pac-12 teams oversign? Big 12 - Iowa St, Kansas St, Oklahoma St. (& WVU) Pac12 - Oregon St ACC - North Carolina is right at the 25 per year average
  21. Florida, Georgia & Vandy are the only SEC teams that don't oversign. Auburn, Mississippi St., South Carolina, Arkansas, Ole Miss & Bama are the worst offenders.
  22. This. Go back over the BCS era & see how many years the Big Ten put a team in a second team in a BCS bowl as an at large bid, then compare that to the ACC, Big 12, Pac & even the SEC. The real world data is the exact opposite of the argument you are making.
  23. So you misnamed Ohio State as Ohio because you find it pretentious that the schools official name is The Ohio State University and found it less confusing to instead call it by the name of another University coached by a former Husker? I guess it's my fault really...it was probably too much to expect more from those who are abbreviationally (made up words are fun!) challenged in regards to their own school. BTW North Carolina received the same waiver. You seem to have forgotten Bo was an Ohio State coach for 6 years, received his Master's from the school and revered Woody.
