Coaches recruit athletes. They sell parents on the idea that their sons will be okay under their guardianship. They also sell their program. They tout their accomplishments as a team, along with the facilities. Coaches coach up athletes. They mold them into what each player wants to be, whilst winning games. If TMart's wheel was ever healed, I think it may have been different for him. Can't argue that the young man worked tirelessly to improve his passing mechanics in the offseason between his sophomore and junior years. As far as Tommy - remember - he shared time last year with Kellogg too. And there were some times last year where he was benched.

For the record.... I'm not trying or attempting to tear down or be overly critical of Tommy. First, he's just a sophomore, and I do think he does throw a beautiful deep ball (when he's actually throwing it to our players, LOL). Tommy has swag, don't get me wrong. I believe that if properly molded, he'll be one hell of a QB. But - the molding isn't happening under this staff. As in throw across his body and get picked off to keep his team out of the Super Bowl Farve? No wonder Tommy is doing what he's doing, LOL But I digress....again.... For example - look at the Buckeyes. Their freaking HEISMAN TROPHY CANDIDATE QB is done for the season. True freshman, third stringer J.T. Barrett comes in. Has a few questionable games, loses to Va Tech (on his O line, they were turrible - yes, Barkley turrible, lol). All this on a still healing wheel (which he tore up in High school). Urban doesn't panic. He makes a few adjustments, tweaks some things. Now Barrett is in the Heisman hunt and tOSU is playing lights out ball. That's coaching (and desire on the part of the player).

Armstrong was considered one of the nation’s top dual-threat quarterbacks after leading Cibolo Steele High School to the Class 5A state championship.... WTF is a 'dual-threat' QB?!? I'm sick of seeing and hearing that term. A QUARTERBACK can hit simple passes (if given time). A QUARTERBACK is expected to read a defense. A QUARTERBACK is supposed to make good decisions with the football, eliminate turnovers. Don't give me that 'dual-threat' QB crap. Tommy is a QUARTERBACK. Call him as such. One of the best QBs that ever played here (in my opinion) that gets ZERO love? My guy Zac Taylor. To me, the last true QB. Ganz lit it up too, but he was also loose with the football at times. But I digress..... All of this, from Tommy, to Taylor, to Joe, to Zac....they're all only efficient and disciplined as quarterbacks IF THEIR COACHING STAFF IS SUCH.

Currently Starting QB for the Carolina Panthers. 2008 Florida - Chris Leak and Tim Tebow (Leak is about to be out of a job cause Muschamp just got fired, and Tebow SHOULD be playing for some of these NFL teams that need QBs). 2005 Texas - Vince Young. Well.....he's not good with $$$, what can one say? But still. All three had freaks of nature at QB. That's why they won. You will never get 4* and 5* players here on a consistent basis if the offense they play in college won't propel them to the next level. Period, end of story. And you'll never get those guys here if you don't have a ball control, play action type offense that isn't predicated on your QB playing lights out football every game. Ask Bucky about that (Stave 7-11 46 yards, 1 TD).

I watched Saban chew out both Lane Kiffin and Kirby Smart a few weeks ago. Coaches get chewed by Saban just like players do. And I agree with what you said about the ability to delegate duties, etc, etc. That's because he's a HEAD COACH, no longer a D coordinator. If Bo wants to get guys in here to keep his job, in my opinion - he's gotta let some guys go. Cotton - Gone. Beck - Gone. Papuchis - Unfortunately, gone. I think he's got the most promise of these three, but his youth and inexperience just works against him. Hire Muschamp as the D coordinator. Proven defensive commodity, former head coach. Let him have the reins. If you want to have this same offense - hire Frost as the Offensive Coordinator from the Ducks. Let him have the reins. Then, delegate and be a head coach. Win games that you're not expected to win. Wanna know the difference between Ohio State, Bammer, LSU and all Nebraska? People pencil in losses for Nebraska before the season starts. Be honest - none of us thought they were beating Bucky. That pains me to say it, but it's true. People look at those other teams, and it's a hard choice for all of them.

Nailed it! Support the kids by getting them a coach that will teach them fundamentals and help them grow into quality football players all with 80% less berating on TV. I don't think he needs to be afforded more time. I've seen positive from Bo in that we are better off now than when he got here but I have not seen him do anything yet to get us above the ceiling we are currently at which is being an average to slightly above average team. I have reached the tipping point. I've said that I believe we need changes at the end of the year. All I've sad is that I want the administration to err on the side of caution and to make sure that when we make the change it will be one that will get us to the next level. I dont want us to pull a Florida and hire someone like Muschamp who looks good but will kill the program. I want someone who is going to do what Saban did for LSU and get us to the next level (keep in mind Saban was not considered to be a "great" hire for LSU). I showed that he has won 9 or 10 games a year (with 4 losses) and consider that a ceiling. The key word I used is "CEILING". That is NOT a good word. It means I believe he has taken us as far as he can. Which means we need to make the changes to get past that point. I only said that I don't think the loss to Wisconsin was rock bottom because things were WAY worse under BC. What if Bill Callahan had let Kevin Cosgrove go and hired Pelini (or some other hotshot D coordinator) away from a really good school? What then? He'd still be here, guaranteed. If his D had played up to it's potential and not been swiss cheese, then he'd probably still have had this job. Don't forget - Bo's Defensive acumen was only solidified by one guy by the name of Suh - who was a Bill Callahan recruit.

Pretty much. But can you blame the media for doing so? I don't. It's far more entertaining than what is happening on field. They are really just watching him to see him explode and chew out the player who made the mistake as he misses then next 3 plays. I have no problem with chewing a player out if it's done in private in the locker room. But, to waste the time on the field to embarrass a 20 some year old is for the birds. It's no wonder this team can't keep their cool under pressure. Their entire coaching staff implodes under it right in front of their very eyes. Then, when the schemes don't function properly, players are belittled on the sidelines. Acting like that during the game, and then saying oh it's our fault as coaches after the game is just total lip service. Just sick and tired of this self-fulfilling prophecy we have where we just get embarrassed on national television. It was extremely hard to stomach that second half as a fan. As someone had stated in a post previously, I am just disappointed at this point (not mad or angry) which IMO is the absolute worst. You can't blame the players too much as they are 20 year olds who play their tails off for our amusement Players execute. Coaches inspire and coach. Player loyalty isn't always uniform throughout the whole team. But I tell you this.... You can scream and holler at a player all you want - if you're winning football games. Ask Nick Saban or Brian Kelly. They're always screaming at guys on the sideline. Heck, I watched Saban maul a kid just this past weekend. Won two championships with this guy. Saban isn't there to make friends. He's there to win games. That's his role, and that's how he plays it. And that's why he's so damn good at it. That's the role of today's head football coaches. Yes, graduating players is part of the job. But players are just that - players. It's not like it used to be. A good number of today's players are so coddled (see Winston, Manziel), and a coach just doesn't have time for that. People criticize Fisher and the way he's handled Winston. Yep, I agree to a point. But his job is to coach that team, not be the moral center of one player. I know, it sounds bad. But this is the way CFB is now. More like the NFL, less like college football. Urban Meyer is good at what he does. Why? Look at what happened in Florida. Players acting nutty off the field. Did he suspend all of them? Nope. Look at Les Miles. He had a star running back KO another guy in a parking lot. Then, asks the TEAM what punishment he should give. C'mon. Say what you want. If we want success, we've got to come down off the pedestal we've placed ourselves on a bit, humanize our football coaches, and not EXPECT them to be the next Dr. Tom Osborne.

A sure fire way to get Bo out? Stop going to games. Just ask Dave Brandon how that worked out for him. And please, spare me the "I'm supporting the kids," line (cause I know it's coming from someone). Support the kids - show your displeasure in the coaching staff and get them someone in there that will help them and work for them, instead of screaming at them all the time.

Let me say this as well - 9-4 and 10-3? That won't get you into your conference championship now a days. This is 2014, not 1984. Stop with the "he won 9 games each year" mess. 9 games doesn't even get you into your conference championship unless the rest of the conference is bad. Besides.... in 2012, Bo took a 10 - 2 Nebraska team into the B1G Championship game against a 7 - 5 Wisconsin team and got plastered, giving up the most rushing TDs in one game, amongst many other things. Record meant diddly there too....

Let me go here.... A letdown. Letdowns are when a game just doesn't pan out for you. You lose a close one here and there, but you're always in the hunt. Saban losing the Iron Bowl last year? Letdown. LSU losing a close one to Bama? Letdown. Mississippi State losing this last weekend? Letdown. But.... In a let down - you don't give up school rushing records. In a let down - you don't give up NCAA rushing records. In a let down - you don't scream at players. You try to rally them. In a let down - you don't scream at officials. It doesn't work. In a let down - you don't get ran out of the building (literally). In a let down - you don't get manhandled like you're a FCS-get-a-game-check opponent. In a let down - you don't get your a** kicked. What happened Saturday - that isn't the definition of a let down. That's the definition of an a** kicking choke job. Not just any a** kicking choke job. It's an MMA style choke job. We're talking a Mike Tyson + Anderson Silva + Andre "The Giant" = You just got KTFO style a** kicking choke job. And people are sick of it. I hear people say, "Well, who wants to play here?" Well - Who wants to play in Minnesota? Kids that want to play for Jerry Kill. Who wants to play in Columbus? Kids that want to play for Urban Meyer. Who wants to play in Madison? Kids that want to play for Gary Anderson. Who wants to play in Baton Rouge? Kids that want to play for Les Miles. Players play for a coach that they feel has their back. These kids gave up on Saturday. Bo says, "We made adjustments and they weren't followed through on." Why? Why should they? All they're going to get when they do well on the sideline is a pat on the butt, but every time they make a mistake, they got your red a** face screaming and spitting all in theirs. They gave up on Bo. Plain and simple. They won't say it. They're tired too. Some support him no matter what, don't get me wrong. And I'm sure he's an okay guy off the field. But he's just not the right guy on it. Not for Nebraska, at least. And definitely not against Wisconsin.

This. We knew what was coming. The rest of the nation knew what was coming. Pelini can say that they made adjustments, and that there were missed tackles, and all the excuses in the world. This team plays undisciplined in big games. The reason? Teams take their cue from their leader. (That's you, Pelini) If you are losing your s**t on the sidelines, how can you not think that the team isn't going to lose their collective s**t on the field?!?

Saw it coming last night. Sip asked him a question and Bo blasted him. Sip has been one of the biggest Bo apologists since he's been here. If you lose Sip, you lose.

I'm of the opinion that it doesn't matter how many games you win or lose - if you don't consistantly compete for conference championships, you have to go.

Every game where a top 25 team is played is like Groundhog Day for Bo. And it's just like the movie Groundhog day - cause we keep seeing the same thing over... And over... and over.. and over... and over...

I think his defensive schemes are great. Hell, they won a national championship, and helped contribute to a Super Bowl. That being said.... Bo Pelini should not be the head coach at The University of Nebraska. Here's my argument why... I'm sure he'll get into the post game presser and will use at least one (if not all) of these lines: "We just didn't execute." "We got outcoached." "You were out there, you saw it. What do you think?" This has been the same every time his team is beaten by a top 25 opponent. Badly. I used to coach myself. No, I didn't coach at the level these guys do. But, to me, a coach at any level is one two things - a teacher, and an example. He's the guy who gets the team together. He keeps them composed. He keeps them believing in him and themselves. He makes them into a family. I don't see that, and never have, in Bo. Which pains me to say that, because I was one of his main supporters for him being here. All he has done this entire game is: Screamed at refs. Screamed at players Screamed at assistant coaches. Where's he at trying to teach? Where's he at trying to compose the team? He's got a Sophomore QB who isn't playing well - where's he trying to encourage him at? He's got a guy who was a Heisman trophy candidate who is battling an injury. This same guy has put it on the carpet today and hasn't played well at all - where's the Head Coach at trying to encourage his player? We're all looking at this team...wondering why they fumble the ball....why they get penalties on the first play of the series coming right out of a time out or a change of possession....why they are so out of position against great players. Lack. Of. Discipline.. If the head coach shows no poise...how can you ask the team to show any? And that's why this team plays without poise and discipline quite often. This is why ball security (another lack of discipline) is such a problem with this team. Who can replace him? Craig Bohl was out there. Scott Frost is coaching right now at a top 10 team. Kirby Smart is the defensive coordinator at the #5 team in the country right now. There are plenty of guys that can replace Bo. Just one man's opinion. I didn't want to give up on Bo. Agree with most of what you said but this. Bohl was fired for being a crap DC. Frost has not even one season as a coordinator. Smart is exactly what Bo was 8 years ago. Or, was he just a sacrifical lamb that was let go after one subpar season and a throttling by Colorado and Miami in the National Championship game? Let's be fair, here. But let me stick with Bohl for a second: Yep, he left here. Became the head coach at North Dakota....what'd that guy do there for almost 15 years? Won three national championships. Was a 2 time AFCA Coach of the Year. Oh yeah - he beat teams that he SHOULD have lost to. Teams that scheduled his team as fodder. Beat K-State. Beat other teams that they were supposed to lose to. NCAA Record Game for Melvin Gordon. 50+ unanswered points. All you have to do is watch Bo's post game presser. Is that a leader for this football team?
