  1. Yeah but coaches also use their votes to help them out on their next game, or future games, whereas the AP does not. I am just saying, I think we are where we should be, according to AP. Coaches Poll, we are ranked higher than we should be. What have we shown to be a top 25 team? Honestly? Beating the crap out of Southern Miss, who has now lost 14 straight games? Almost getting beat by WYO? Allowing almost 2100 yards in the last 4 games (including S. Miss). When Northwestern has more of a national coverage than we do, I think that is a sign. This University needs to put itself back on the map and prove to be a legitimate threat. Southern Miss is 0-2 this year. This year isn't last years team. They had 8 turnovers against Texas State. Even we would have lost that one (cue Iowa state 2009). If Southern Miss goes on to win 9 games this year are you still going to blow off like a sperm whale about their win less season last year just to validate an unprovable point? You don't need to be the best team in the world to be in the top 25. You don't have to be very good at all, if you were, you'd be in the TOP 10. You see its all about how good we are relative to others, and the teams floating us in the rankings now, simply aren't that good (neither are we). So honestly, what does it matter?
  2. Hey!Now we are talking... Pure genius ^
  3. Lincoln always felt a little big to just be a college town. Its not small but its not too big either, just about perfect. There seems to be a lot of money being spent to improve the downtown experience and the university. I don't think Norman or OU can match it now and it won't even be worthy of discussion in 5-10 years. Maybe someday our program will be at cutting edge of player development like we were in the past. But that advantage seems to have evaporated long ago.
  4. 30k a year? Must have been a huge tuition hike in the past couple years. I spent 30k in 5 years. Maybe you are quoting out of state? Still not that much. Secondly there wasn't a huge student following in the Devaney so I don't think it constituted a greater allotment of seats in Pinnacle.
  5. If grammar was an honest indication of intelligence I can honestly say my intelligence was much higher in 5th grade than it is now. I'll go out on a limb and say that goes for most people. However being an aspiring engineer doesn't necessarily translate to intelligence either. Then again even if he was intelligent within the context of engineering it wouldn't be predicative of having a high football IQ. In the classroom you have the luxury to take your time and be methodical. On the field you have to be able to analyze and adjust quickly, not just know the scheme. He must have tested out high on his "football IQ." For me, he definitely passes the eyeball test. The fact that he is a 2 star and was able to impress the coaches enough to get a spot in the class this early is more telling than anything.
  6. I think it is fair to say that the University of Nebraska and Lincoln wouldn't be the same w/o a great football team. Lincoln would be much smaller, the Universities enrollment would be smaller and the importance of the university really wouldn't have much of any. The football team has perpetuated the success and benefited the University, the City of Lincoln and the State beyond the scales of tangible measurement. That being said, where is the University, Linocln... the State without TO? Aren't we indebted to TO. Is it too much to at least hear his opinion? Also, I'd like to point out, the University and their athletics has been representative of the Nebraska culture, values... etc. mostly due to the success of the football team and their position in the national spotlight. It used to be that nebraska stood for the blue collar mentality, family values, humility etc... mostly because the state was a reflection of TO. Is Harvey Pearlman treating the university like a family? Does he reflect any of these values... at all? It appears through his actions that he is a self-absorbed person and consequently apathetic to opinions that should carry a heavy weight in the Husker family. I don't know what quality he has that makes him an appropriate fit but I think it is safe to say has been and is a horrible representative of the University and should have been fired a long time ago... I hope this doesn't lead to a gloomy existence for Nebraska. More importantly I pray that Pearlman is relieved of his duties before he causes any more damage.
  7. I'll give you the East stadium project, but the arena really isn't "NU's project" since we are a tenant in a lease agreement (I believe it's around 1 million/year). In reality is the city's project. The biggest money sink by far is the East stadium expansion which I thought was going to be paid for by donations? I'm not for sure what we do with all of our profit, but I thought it was used to support the other programs instead of being used to finance projects. When you are going to be making at least 10 million more a year in a few years with tv deals and added revenue in 2013 with the stadium expansion and the arena (it will sell out and generate a good profit because it's new regardless of how bad the team is) a few million is not a concern. Think about this: Volleyball in Devaney=self-sufficient and capable of actually adding money to the pot Baseball (if we return to our early 2000 days)=self-sufficient and also capable of adding money to the pot Men's Basketball (first year or two and on if successful)+Women's Basketball=self-sufficient and will add money to the pot We have been pretty good in gymnastics, wresting, and track but have they attracted crowds to sustain themselves, doubtful So what is the total revenue for the athletic department in 2013? I have no clue The budget for the 2011 year was 80 million for the athletic department and considering it sustains itself im guessing that is equivalent to revenue. In 2013, I wouldn't be surprised to see it swell to nearly 100 million. Also I'm not for sure if it happens every year but in 2004-2005 fiscal year, the athletic department was doing well enough to give 10.7 million dollars to the University. The point is if you don't think the athletic department has enough money to pay doc 3.4 million to hit the road and another 1.5-2 million to acquire a new coach then well, I dont know what to say.
  8. Newsflash! Majority of top programs don't have a major airport in the city with direct flights... This shouldn't be a surprise considering Lincoln's population exceeds the majority of other D1 program cities. In the big 12 Lincoln was the 2nd largest city in the big 12 and in the big ten is technically the 3rd largest. However you don't see an advantage being gained by Northwestern(3rd busiest airport in the world) or Minnesota(30th busiest in the world) Where do recruits fly in for Penn State? Philadelphia? Pittsburgh.. either is more than a 100 miles a way. Trust me, we definitely are not in the minority when it comes to this issue. Usually college towns aren't in large cities which have direct flights which makes a lot of sense.
  9. In the very near future this will be possible.. a transparent Lcd screen that can be "painted" on glass... current technology would obscure the view of people behind the glass... but I dont know if they have tried to cancel out the image on the reverse side yet...
  10. Here is a real quick sketch...I would a wrap around deck like this..
  11. Although recruiting rankings are nice to get an idea of TOs recruiting classes... Those rankings were far from reliable and hardly valid when you consider not only the technology differences and the resulting impact on exposure but also the popularity the internet has given these recruiting services which has allowed them to be more thorough in their evaluations. Take home point 90's recruiting rankings=Paraplegic 2000's=Usain bolt You just cant compare the two... apples and oranges
  12. So a bird told me that caputo had his buddy drive him home but they got in a dispute. Caputo told him to pullover and get out. His buddy pulls into the U stop calls for a friend to pick him up. Meanwhile Caputo decides its better to sleep this one off before he drives home. You know the rest of the story from here... I love how ignorant impulsive people make me appear more intelligent than what I really am.. Ya know, you can't see much through a microscope... Ooo have a good day now:)
