  1. You are exactly right!!! It can become a great rivalry between two schools that have some passion (that will grow with time). It would be good for both states, schools, sets of fans, the conference, recruiting, etc. I am not sure exactly what the fight is against it. Hopefully we keep the Friday after Thanksgiving date well into the future.
  2. When Iowa beats another mediocre Nebraska team next year, will that make it a better rivalry? How about 3 years in a row? 4? Needless to say, with all of the infighting west of the river, recruiting for Nebraska will continue to be in the toilet and wins in the Big 10 will continue to be tough. That said, maybe get a rivalry earlier in the year before the other members of the Big 10 pounds your players into the dirt as they did this year. It is a bit ironic that the Iowa game is at the end of the season, as it does say allot about toughness, both mentally and physically, of both teams. My bet is that the decision to keep Bo is going to be looked back at as a bad one, but it will certainly play a role in getting this rivalry hotter and faster than I think any of us could imagine.
  3. Thats great! Like I say, I think that next years game will be a big one indeed!
  4. Yes, Iowa IS better than our 3rd team QB and our 2nd team offensive line. Congratulations! Now that is how rivalries are made! It hurts so bad to lose that excuses spread like wildfire. Bad coach, bad players, bad turnovers, bad fans, bad AD, bad, bad, bad................... Losing, especially as bad as Nebraska did, should make for a good "fire in the belly" when you come to Iowa City next year. I can assure you that game will mean more to Nebraska fans than what they are willing to admit. If Iowa wins next year will it be a legit rivalry? If Iowa wind will it just be because of a bad coach, bad players, bad turnovers, bad fans, bad AD, bad, bad, bad................... Lets call it what it is, a rivalry in the making! We are tired of you rubbing past successes in our faces, and now it is our time! Who knows, maybe next year our time will continue? Maybe Nebraska will come to Iowa City and reverse the tables and beat the crap out of the Hawkeyes. That said, maybe the Hawks will win. Either way, it will be a great buildup to a great game, even if the faithful do not want to admit it. BTW, somebody commented on Iowa's lack of total offensive yards. The only reason that we did not have more was because of the endzone! If we would have taken the ball at our own 10 every possession, we would have had a ton of yards! Oh yea, this is definitely a rivalry in the making! Hopefully both sets of fans can enjoy the ride!
  5. You are exactly right! Hopefully we will see the Iowa Nebraska game heat up to a true rivalry. Lord knows we get under each others skin, and that is a good start!
  6. Wow, it really surprises me as this will put your recruiting in the toilet. This charade will destruct upon the graduation of current student athletes. The good part is that the eventual buyout will be less. The bad part is that future coaches and prospects will be reading all of this hate. A year, two, or three down the line, a new coach will cost much, much more.
  7. Nebraska is not a great team. Next. Nebraska will need to become a perennial Top 15 team first. I would settle in with this Iowa rivalry until you get the "swagger" back. Face it, Nebraska is not what they used to be, and it will take a ton to get it back there, if that is even possible. It is certainly not possible with the current coaching staff, as few recruits that read these boards will want to take part in this debacle. If I was any other school competing with Nebraska for student athletes, I would share this site with them, along with the Pelini rant about the fans. Bo has to go in order to make them a moot point.
  8. When Hayden Fry was winding down his career at Iowa, we saw first hand how recruiting was impacted. Why would a kid and his family commit to a program, when they did not know who would be the coach next year? Almost worse than that would be knowing that the current coach has one more year to prove himself being possibly being fired. You only have 4 years (maybe 5) as a student athlete, so why would you risk it? Who would want to sign up for one program knowing full well that the entire scheme could change? Whether fair or not, this is the position that you might be in. If Bo stays, it will take a healthy contract extension to show recruits that the University is behind him, and his coaching staff and style. That is exactly how a University can get into a real "toxic" situation with a lame duck coach and a long contract (as in expensive buyout if the gamble does not work). I gotta admit that it has been fun to poke at Nebraska fans since the game, especially with many of the vile reactions. It is easy to be the "Greatest Fans" when you have an impeccable record, but real winners also know how to lose with grace.
  9. I thought that we were going to meet back up after the game and tell some jokes?
  10. Another joke......under 90 yards rushing????
  11. your excited about beating a bad husker team that is poorly coached and riddled with injuries. grats Just as the Husker Nation says when they squeak on out in the last seconds, "a win is a win". I think that Pelini might be looking for a new set of fans.
  12. OK, boys, where do we start with the jokes!
  13. The fact that the fans sh#t on their team? Does it not even matter what the head coach thinks of you guys? Over and out until after the game................
  14. What does a head coach of a college football team that is not nearly as good as they used to be think about the fans? Our crowd. What a bunch of f------ fair-weather f------ — they can all kiss my ass out the f------ door. 'Cause the day is f------ coming now. We'll see what they can do when I'm f------ gone. Oh yea, this was after a game where thousands of fans and students left the game well before it was over (well, I guess it was actually over, the time had just not run out). Is it only fun to support them when they win?
  15. In the 4th quarter I can already hear the chants "Wait till Volleyball, wait till volleyball, wait till volleyball!"
  16. It tells me that you would rather take your chances against CU than the University of Iowa! Duh!
  17. Back when Nebraska was good, you would tell these jokes and were smug about it. Now that they are not so good, and will probably never be at the same level again, you have to be biting your tounges a little while telling them. Why? Because you may very well get your asses kicked on Friday! Tell me that you are not at least a little nervous! Whe we do kick your asses, will you stand and applaud like you used to do when Nebraska was a real winning program? I don't think so. You will be booing Martinez, the coaching staff, and frankley, the entire team. History is just that, it is history. You have had a good one, but it is gone! Pam Andersen used to have nic etits too, but those are long gone! It has been allot of fun for fans around the country see you guys turn on each other, your coaches, your University, and of course the lowest of low, your 18-21 year old players. Yes you have class, it just happens to be low! Pelini was right when he calle dall of you a whining bunch of focks (or something like that, it was hard to understand with all of the rage). Last joke........Tom Osbourne has done all of this to your beloved program and he has laughed all the way to the bank! He has pulled all of the strings and made many of the decisons from behind the scenes. You still think he is god? He has fleeced Nebraska along with the fans, and you all keep sucking him off!
  18. Whoever you hire, I would suggest to maybe do a youtube search to see how they feel about thier current fans: You guys deserve a hell of alot better. Keeping Polini at the head coaching helm will get you nowhere. It has to be embarassing for the faithful.
  19. How about Kirk Ferentz? He may be looking after this season............ Seriously, though, I have always looked at Bo Polini as being "under" Nebraska standards. This is especially true after hearing the recording of him railing on Husker fans. We will see you all the day after Thanksgiving! Unfortunately for nebraska, it could be a close game this year.
  20. The entire Iowa team. They did nothing against a mediocre Nebraska team.
  21. Wasn't Prater called for holding on a third and long that kept the Husker drive alive? Not nitpicking, but just sayin'
  22. As a side note vandenberg was offered a scholarship from Callahan, and Tom Osbourne left the offer on the table after Callahan left. He has commented several times on how the Husker program and fans are top notch, but he just could not cross the river.
