  1. I just don't understand the "Meatchicken" thing. Is it supposed to be an insult? It sounds delicious to me. It's supposed to be Meechicken. That made up word came about after the '97 season when you guys were too scared to play Nebraska at a neutral site for the national championship. I guess I can't blame your team for wanting to play a Ryan Leaf led Washington State squad-in which you barely squeaked by with a win. If your team would have played Nebraska that year the Huskers would have a beaten them worse than we did Tennessee.
  2. skersfan - with 'Max' you'll see a very composed QB, mobile, strong arm, accurate, intelligent, etc. but lacking a lot of game-time experience. Below are a couple of ESPN video clips of Max during a Central Mich. game a while back: Clip that gives an idea on Max's mobility and arm: http://espn.go.com/v...clip?id=7012737 Clig of TD pass against Cent. Mich (again quite mobile)... also to TE Dion Sims: http://espn.go.com/v...clip?id=7012793 Big question for Sparty is more consistent pass protection and run blocking (11th? in B1G in rushing (2011) is pathetic...) and if MSU can develop a talented group of Recv'rs and TE's quickly. I think Michigan State's season is dependent upon the health and play of the defense. What I mean is, the Spartans better hope that their defense can severely limit opposing offenses because with all the inexperience it's rather doubtful they're going to be able to win a shoot-out.
  3. Well sure if you want to bring facts into the discussion... But let's face it, historically the Giants do run the ball quite well and play awesome defense.
  4. Not to turn this into an NFL thread, but come on man, Eli Manning is the most over-rated QB in the NFL. If he was on any other team they'd barely sniff the playoffs. But the New York Giants do two things extremely well, run the ball and play defenseso he's got two SuperBowl rings. He's the modern day Trent Dilfer-marginally talented but on the right team.
  5. On that I agree. College football players are extremely limited in their practice time. When a coach constantly moves guys around they really don't have an opportunity to develop and get better at any position.
  6. I like the idea of running more option. Hardly any teams run it which gives us the advantage. Have you actually watched Oregon's running game? They run a lot to the outside true enough but they are extremely physical at the point of attack.
  7. I remember the the Notre Dame game in South Bend years ago: The game against UCLA might not be that much of a takeover but it could be close.
  8. But I do wonder just how much of what we're seeing is coach speak or for the cameras. And I have no doubt that UCLA is going to fire all their bullets in the game against us because a win could propel them to at least a decent season. The lose to us and they might not make 6 wins.
  9. Where do you guys get these gifs at? Any gif I've ever posted I've taken off of photobucket.
  10. He will not beat out Hundley. As for their offense, see Arizona State's offense from last year... If that is in fact what we see out of UCLA's offense then we will absolutely roll them. Bo's defenses can shut down pro-style offenses with ease.
  11. Which is why I said nearly...not all. And if we're being precise Bo came to us from LSU, not the NFL.
  12. A QB returning punts? Is Mora completely insane? Edit: I believe that Mora should roll the dice and play Devin at QB as a freshman. He should build his offense around what Fuller can actually do, which is run a spread zone read system similar to what Nebraska utilizes. If Mora tries to run a pro-style offense he'll fail just like nearly every coach who has come from the NFL before him.
  13. I know. Dennard Robinson can play all five ol spots AND qb...that's how "talented" he is. UCLA reminds me a lot of Colorado. Both teams are usually very talented but let the laziest among them hold sway. The result? Annually a 6-6 record. And that got them in their CCG last year! I know. How pathetic was that? They lost 5 conference games and still made it to the first Pac 12 championship game...all because USC wasn't eligible.
  14. Did you catch the "Voices" segment with Kenny Bell? Husker play by play guy Greg Sharpe and Jeff Culhaine video chatted with Kenny Bell and asked him directly what does Nebraska need to do to get better? And Kenny came right out and said they need to stop shooting themselves in the foot with penalties and turnovers-they need to stop beating themselves. Kenny said that they were in those games against Michigan, Wisconsin, etc until they made those mistakes. And Bell actually mentioned his fumble against Michigan as an example. That impressed the hell out me. I think this team will be Bo's best to date and they're going to silence all the critics.
  15. If their Defense is "that good", then it should keep them in most ballgames. It the games against the tougher teams where their lack of offense is going to be exposed. I think them winning 9 games is spot on. And the Spartans open their season this coming Friday against Boise State. I think the Spartans will win this game. But if Sparty loses things could get ugly for them this season.
  16. Oh lordy, if Ohio comes in and actually beats Penn State I'll be laughing my a** off.......
  17. This time of year it's all about the Kool-Aid. It is flowing freely on campuses all over the country. Oh yeah! The difference is the Bruins are coming off a 6-8 season. I mean it's possible they could get 8 or 9 wins this season, but I'm looking at their schedule and I'm wondering where those 9 wins will come from. Games that should be wins: Rice, Houston, Oregon State, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona. The rest, more than likely are losses. In my estimation, UCLA's entire season hinges on beating us. If they're somehow able to win then they could be the surprising team in the Pac 12. But when they lose, I fully expect this team to crumble. The positives UCLA has going for them are the fact that they have a brand new coaching staff and what they'll bring to the table on both sides of the ball is a complete mystery. I'm not real sure how the Huskers are even supposed to prepare for the Bruins. I honestly think we'll smash UCLA just like we did Washington in Seattle in 2010. But man if we do somehow lose I'll have to have some hot sauce to go with that egg on my face.
  18. It would actually be "Jesus's sake" or "Jesus' sake." Hey Jesus makes the rules not me. "Jesus is just alright with me."
  19. Read this board.... Where do you think the dislike for the OWH writers comes from? Is what Dirk, or McKewon writing really that absurd? No, they just tend to say things that people do not want to hear. That's all I am saying, and its certainly not just limited to Nebraska fans. I guess my point is, the OWH writers make a lot of sense to me (aside from Barf).... I personally have no problems with what Dirk has said including last season's "feud" with Bo. McKewon, even when he's been critical, has shown a nice touch of fairness and balance. Barfneckt...his name perfectly encompasses him and his "writing" style. Ole Barfy is the one Herald writer that I would say literally goes out of his way to be overly critical of the Huskers.
  20. Prince should have punched him in the head.... Agreed. But he didn't...
  21. Well I don't know what "most" Nebraska fans want because I'm only one and I only know about five others. However, those I know want nothing to do with rainbows or kittens (meaning blind sycophantism) so I'm not real sure where you're getting the "most" notion from.
  22. Prince is now a pro and the rules are different. It sounds like to me that Prince is being retroactively hazed. I have no problems with what Pierre Paul did. Football is still a man's game.
