I would add: Grossly over-react to everything that goes wrong. Ignore what the team does right. Blame Barney Cotton and demand he be fired. Condemn Bo for hiring his buddies. Predict two wins the rest of the season if we're "lucky."

Jesus, most Husker message boards were going crazy about the loss tonight. We lose to Idaho State next and I think there will be a majority opinion that says Bo needs to go instead of the tiny minority that's out there now.

Sorry about being a dick in the other thread...I'm just a little pissed right now given how bad our DL is. Really? Giving up 300+ yards rushing isn't good? The hell you say... I don't know why but we just can not seem to recruit top notch DT or DEs any more.

Don't get me wrong, I'm estatic that Missouri got beat badly especially because of their DT's comments. But I'm simply not in the mood for some $EC shlump to come here, especially after a loss, and talk about how great the $EC is. Just rubs me the wrong way.

Now if you want to call OC Tim Beck a complete idiot for mysteriously moving away from running out of the I then you'll have a really strong argument. We ran that short toss out the I on one series like 7 times in a row, moved the ball down the field and then got into FG range, went away from it and never came back. Gawd Beck was dumb in doing that. I couldn't figure out why, with the Huskers having the ball at their own 3 yard line why we didn't go back to running out of the I. Ridiculous.

I think you might be right. Bo knows secondary players and can recruit those guys. But we have, I think, the most awful DL and LBs of any BCS AQ school. However, what gives me a ray of hope is that as bad as we were overall on defense last night-we still only lost by 6 on the road.

Yep. Two 100 yard rushers and nearly 200 yards passing with no false starts or holding calls...utterly horrible. But sure, completely ignore the fact that our defense gave up over 600 yards and couldn't stop UCLA when it counted.

WTF are you talking about? Our offense had 400+ yards and scored 30 points. But right. The 600+ yards defensively we gave up and 36 points is ALL SOMEHOW Cotton's fault.

We had over 400 yards of offense, like 260 on the ground, and scored 30 points. That should be enough to win ANY game.

Our offense had 400+ yards and 30 points...that should be good enough to win any game. I agree we have issues on defense but your lumping Cotton and the offense into your criticism is clearly not warranted.

Exactly. The game, to my recollection, was tied at 27. Our offense came out in the I-formation and ran the short toss like 7 times in a row and moved the ball down to about the Bruin 20 and all of a sudden we move to the shotgun and the drive falls apart. Then to compound the problem Beck never went back to the I. What in the f*** was that about? And the missed tackles are simply mind numbingly stupid. Bo obviously doesn't teach fundamental tackling. A fundamentally sound tackle consists of basically the following 8 parts: 1. Sprint to the ball. 2. Break down. 3. Get your head across the ball carrier's body. 4. Sink your hips. 5. Then shoot your hips. 6. Wrap your arms around his body. 7. Explode through the ball carrier. 8. Planting him into the turf. I can't remember one fundamentally sound tackle. That was what was so embarrassing.

LOL...Missouri did get hammered. Last I saw of the Georgia - Missouri game it was tied at 17. I'm completely baffled as to why we have such a poor DL.

We don't have the players to execute the scheme. We have the least physical and slowest defensive line I can remember in the last 20 years at Nebraska. I agree 100%. Our DL is just awful. My only hope is that we can somehow patch together a decent unit, and defense overall, by season's end. But right now, well I'll just say it is not looking good.

We lost on the road by 6...a loss sure but not bad. The second most yards ever in school history doesn't throw some giant red flags to you? The only worse amount was run up in the Wilkinson era at OU when they went 47 strait. And technically had UCLA not taken knees to end the game, it would have been the most ever. EVER. Worse than Cosgrove. Red flags? Absolutely. We have a terrible DL and laughably slow and unathletic LBs. And even with that albatross we still only lost by six. And don't get me started on the missed tackles. Those missed tackles were the worst. So yes we have some very serious issues especially on defense. But I'm not willing to conceed the season just yet. Although I conceed that if we don't get our sh** together on defense we actually could be 7-5 at the end of the regular season. But we have 10 full regular season games left. I'm going to hope Bo can turn this ship around and square the D away.

I mostly agree with your OP. But this ^^ is ludicrous man. Essentially you're saying that we won't put forth any effort on defense in our OOC games and suddenly flip a switch and it'll all come together. Simply stated we have some rather serious, glaring, and troubling issues with this defense. We have a DL that couldn't pressure or shut down a Pop Warner team and the most unathletic LBs of any major BCS school. I admit that I was a little too optimistic before the season started about what we had on defense. My only hope going forward is that we can either fix what we have or hope to God that Curry, Valentine, Moss and all those LBs we've signed in last year's class and have committed in this upcoming class are the real deal. Because if we can't get this defense shored up 7-5 or worse could actually be feasible.
