  1. Yep, def scheme and prolly equally due to not having a legit pass rusher since Randy? Pressuring the QB with only 4 consistently is such a luxury that i miss in this game
  2. Honestly, the only one im going to truly miss is domann, guys a gamer and will sorely be missed. Stille has been sound but replaceable and maybe i'm in the minority on this, but I think our secondary is beyond overrated. too soft of coverage for my liking and sure they lay the lumber every now and then but we too often we make 2nd and 3rd string QBs look like starters with career days against our defense
  3. lol i meant to say off the field mishaps... brain fart I like how in that breakdown Iowa somehow beats minnesota but then loses to illinois and northwestern. a guy can dream i guess
  4. Except for the whole couple of schools missing out on post season eligibility for various offseason mishaps
  5. 1 more year to s#!t or get off the pot. Nebraska gave frost, at the time, a top 15 budget to fill out his staff and he elected to bring on his buddies, the vast majority of which, if not all, were woefully under-qualified for the job. Give frosty a year to make appropriate changes to the staff fitting of the budget and resources at his disposal and if there is clear improvement, his leash gets a bit longer. I don't have all of their resumes in front of me but for pretty much all of the staff this was the best position they've had and it wasn't even close. That's egregious in my opinion- there is no rhyme or reason that could justify why a top 25 coaching job in college football has to settle for a staff that only has non P5 or worse experience.
  6. I think your throwing your baby out w/ the bathwater is very apt here. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to paint the picture the only broken thing with this team is Adrian. This team is very broken and some areas way more than what's broken with qb. I just long for the days of having a team captain and leader on this team not be the one to make back breaking mistakes and rather often. I know its cliche to say this, but hot damn they need to lead by example out there on the field and when I think about the leaders on this team who have been here for a while- namely adrian and CTB, I see all the talent in the world yet continual head scratching errors that hurt this team and its so f'n painful. You're probably right, 2AM prolly our best option for next year too, its just maddening that we would be in year 5 of frosty (next year) and somehow we've only had 1 qb this whole time without much hype/promise for someone else in the depth chart. Just feels like we've hitched our broken wagon to somone with high upside but even higher risk based off what we've seen
  7. Not putting words in my mouth at all and prolly coulda been more clear in my original post. By no means am I trying to pile on 2AM or making him out to be a scapegoat. We definitely dont win some games with out him but this is impossible to gauge as is the argument i made that he's cost us some games. I think as a fan I'm just checked out on the 2AM experience and would like to see a new QB, given the magnitude of impact QB play has on football these days. I just want more consistency out of the guy. We have a massive room of improvement in so many areas-- and its equally baffling and frustrating to see this guy with all the talent in the world really not improve much since he came on campus. The same statement can be made for probably every single position group on this team except for linebacker, in my opinion, and even that group has massive room for improvement depending on how you define the OLB position in today's game and our system. Football is the ultimate team sport and it be foolish to make the claim 2AM is what's holding us back. I just want to see the guy succeed yet its so hard to continue to support him as the face of this program given the crushing way we've lost some of these winnable games
  8. Its a combination of many things. Beyond our inept o line play, there's just too many errant throws and missed reads-- things that are critical in frostys system (really anyone's system), that should not be occurring to the level they are today with a 4th year starter. I just don't understand why for 4 years now we've consistnetly tuned into games where this kid looks like a fringe P5 starter for half or more of the game, then turns it on and looks unstoppable but its too late.
  9. What's laughable is your reading comprehension. Not once did I say this is a 11-1 team if not for our qb. I was responding to a post that mentioned our veteran qb might be gone- which I think is a good thing because i think this team needs a fresh face at qb. I even went as far as mentioning a large part of frostys downfall is his lack of development and consistency on the offensive side of the ball (mainly our s#!t o line and whatever you want to call our ever changing offensive philosophy). Sure, I could rattle off how I think our secondary is vastly overrated, how the OL you detailed has all the talent in the world yet lacks basic fundamentals, how our coaches seem to do absolutely nothing with the talent on hand. But my response was to a post how giving frost another year isnt a guarantee anything will change. And I disagree with the bolded. a 4th year starting QB should not have this mentality or free pass. Obviously he doesn't go into the game thinking this but isnt it a bit concerning to you for 4 years he still has inexcusable games where he literally just seems passive AF and going through the motions with zero fire until its too late? Not a leader I'd get behind-- this team comes out flat too often for my liking and thats directly tied back to this staff and leaders on the team. And for the last bolded- thats the name of the game if you're the QB. You want all the press, publicity and accolades when the team is doing well? Well, you better be prepared to catch way more s#!t and flak when its not going well. While it sucks to type this, I'd say the category of things going well has maybe applied twice during the frosty campaign (when we finished strong in 2018 and almost beat OSU and then this most recent 5 game stretch that came crashing down last game)... the sad part is both of these teams were still sub .500 and there's 2 commonalities- they're led by a coach who has an inept staff and a qb who can rack up stats and make highlight plays yet takes 2 steps back from his rookieesque errors and lack of consistency. This is fine for a first year starter, but 4th year in the progrum? Enough is enough
  10. At a certain point accountability has to be brought up. QB is the most important position in all of sports and this team would be much better off with a player who makes winning plays consistently. Sure, his supporting case should be a helluva lot better-- but it wasn't the supporting cast that made that JV high school error of fumbling it for 7 the other way against illinois to end the half. It wasn't the supporting cast that inexcusably fumbled the ball to end it against michigan. It wasnt the supporting cast that missed a wide open TD in overtime against mich st and instead had 3 negative plays in a row. And it certainly isn't the supporting casts fault that for whatever reason 2AM seems to pick a game every 3 games of his career where he decides hes just going to air mail the simplest of throws and completely stall the offense for half or the majority of the game. Kid has talent, no doubt, and frosty and staff have done a horrendous job maximizing that talent. But I am just baffled why this guy literally sleep walks through so many games AND THEN when we're down by 10+ with a quarter and a half to go somehow a switch goes on and our offense looks solid., He's inconsistent at best. He makes this team go and its no surprise the team as a whole is inconsistent at best
  11. Good. Frosty's downfall in retrospect is going to revolve around 2 main things: Lack of discipline and development on the offensive side of the ball... and 2. Hitching his wagon and success to a QB who defines mediocrity. The off the field tangibles of 2AM are great and all, and yeah, we're prolly worse off without him- but the kid has continually, for 4 years now, wilted in the big moments and made disastrous mistakes that have literally cost his team points and wins. Fans want to see this program compete and win the west and thats just simply not going to happen when the most important position on the field and all of sports is manned by a guy who consistently comes out flat and sleep walks through halfs at a time, misses wide open reads, and makes the game incredibly more difficult than it needs to be
  12. We only have 8 players graduating and maybe a couple juniors go the draft route. if I’m frosty, I’m also trying to hit on some transfers to make an immediate impact like tourę has been. seeing how we aren’t getting any high 4 or 5 star guys that would make an immediate impact anyways, why not use the little spots we have on higher upside in the short term when u need wins
  13. lol to the full circle this progrum has gone on. I recall a few threads over the years on this site of members proposing lane as a logical coaching candidate and they were promptly laughed off.
  14. Guy is retired and battling some serious health issues right now. Turning around this sinking ship probably not the best for either sides
  15. I think we're going too worst case scenario here... I feel fine about RB, same with WR outside of toure leaving. The TEs might leave but we also have fidone back (hopefully, injury free) that probably will be a significant upgrade in the playmaking department Our o line, while inept at imes, i feel has massive potential if we get an actual coach who can coach fundamental sound line play As far as defense goes- unproven for sure but we still have quite a few young guys int erms of years that will start again Frankly, I'm not as big on our secondary as most seem to be. Perhaps im being hard on them but i think theyre sub par as far as pass coverage goes, piss poor in terms of turnovers and playing the ball and they seem to be suited more of a rush D type secondary. Im so over 3rd and longs/2nd and longs being converted with our DB 3+ yards from the receiver when its caught LB will take a hit for sure, no way to replace a gamer like jojo but who knows Relative to other teams, I feel like we have a s#!t load of returning talent. Its coaching to me and the lack of fundamental consistent football being taught that is our biggest gap
  16. obviously not the best news and u want to be higher in the recruiting rankings, BUT, this team is incredibly back logged with fresh-soph that were redshirted plus covid and are still fresh/sophomores... lack of winning certainly doesnt help but i get the sense this staff is not really prioritizing a normal class this year and prolly will raid the transfer market for the very few spots that will open up after this year. seriously, take a look at the depth chart- few guys on both sides will graduate and thats about it on top of guys like CTB who might get drafted
  17. If he truly only gets 6 wins next year i think he's done. 8 should be the floor expectation given the only for sure games we'd be underdogs would be oklahoma, michigan, and probably iowa/wisconsin depending on those two teams look next year
  18. I get these types of exercises are fun after yet another debacle but there's no way frosty is getting the axe this year at this point unless we end the year getting blown out 56-10 every week Staff changes will surely be mandated and I think we can all rattle off 3-4 needed changes that are imperative they take place (Austin, Verduzco). But SF being one of them to change just doesn't seem realistic to me
  19. While this is true we just had our team captain drop 6 yards back into the end zone and commit a high school level error. we are led by a complete loser who lacks poise and leadership on the field. I’m done with this clown at quarterback, put in smothers rest of year I’ve seen enough of this ineptitude
  20. Lol to the posters the past few weeks saying 2AM could be drafted. Guy makes great plays, great person off the field but simply isn’t a winner on it. Lacks consistency in every game, constantly makes plays that harms his team and doesn’t have poise in 2 min situations or must score drives. can we please raid the transfer market for someone, anyone other than 2am next year
  21. Lot of s#!tty play by the defense for sure but so much blame also at the feet of our offense who clearly is still sleeping this morning
  22. Why does it feel like we’re always 3+ yards from a receiver when they catch a ball? I think I’d get a stiffy if I saw a batted ball on a quick pass in coverage for once
