  1. You mean like #14 Notre Dame visiting #17 Michigan? That was in Lincoln?!?! Holy hell!
  2. Really? I think that's a reach. You take away the 2012 National Championship and Alabama has 2 within 4 years, or 3 withing 5 years if they make it through their "brutual SEC schedule" this year. I don't think that is a reach at all. The debate was very close with both having 3 within 4 years. If you take one away, it isn't even debatable. If you are talking to someone about which championships belong in the record books, you may need to choose a different dance partner than an A&M fan.
  3. I laugh when I try to picture this. A gun doesn't really make Suh that much more intimidating. Suh could have stepped out with bunny slippers and a propeller beanie and the cable guy still probably would have crapped himself.
  4. He was urging people to talk to him about A&M instead, but he got just as pissy when he was asked about Manziel earlier in the season.
  5. In high school, I discovered that I could listen to the PPV matches over cable, even though the pictures were scrambled. Pathetically, I stayed up on quite a few Saturday nights listening to the matches and watching static. Then I also discovered other things that could be found on scrambled pay per view...
  6. I'm in the same boat. I was a huge fan back in those days, which was during high school and college for me. I have fond memories of the storylines during the Monday night wars and NWO period, but haven't watched any of it in a decade.
  7. It would help not being on the same day as the most-hyped game of the year. Edit: Way too slow.

    Manziel

You're not a crybaby, and your points are respectable. But your recent posts are starting to paint Manziel as an innocent victim. Everything else in this thread is just people having fun.
  9. He wouldn't be the first or last professor to come of as a biased douche. I'd be interested in hearing how he responds to anyone who would challenge his thoughts, if he would engage in an intellectual debate or if he would put them down. I lean left myself, but I hate it when people, especially teachers, engage in such one-sided discussions. As NUance said, there's probably a lot more to know about this guy, so I don't know if an actual punishment was appropriate, but if you invite controversy, you need to be prepared for some blowback.
  10. 02, 04, and 07 were also the worst Husker teams of the past 50 years. The 06 game was a night game on the road against the most dominant team of those few years. I feel better about our chances this year.
  11. I agree with this. My 4 year old already knows where most of the states are and can identify them by shape, thanks to a puzzle we have. I know not everyone has the same access to educational opportunity, or puzzles, in this country, but this is basic stuff.
  12. Clay Matthews hit out of bounds on Colin Kaepernick received zero punishment Matthews is a bit of a media darling and gets the benefit of the doubt on crap like that. It's not right, but if Suh had done the same thing, we'd be seeing replays of him stomping heads and kicking balls again, instead of fawning over his beautiful, flowing hair.
  13. Wow, what a douche. I forgot all about that little episode of his. In contrast, Sapp's hit on Clifton was perfectly fine - it was on the shoulder and in front of him, it was Clifton's fault for not paying attention to his surroundings. Sapp's douchiness and his character otherwise speaks for itself - the guy is an ass. Suh's hit on the other hand was at the dude's knees when he didn't see it coming. I have nothing bad to say about Suh's personality, especially in comparison to a prick like Sapp, but he goes a little too far on the field, and the microscope is on him.
  14. I guess I'm in the minority for not having a problem with this fine. A few of the things that Suh has been penalized for and fined for in his first couple years were total BS, and perhaps some of the things he has done, such as this hit, or kicking Schaub in the balls, other players might have skated by on, but Suh has had done enough to earn his reputation (and not done enough to prove his haters wrong) that he won't get the benefit of the doubt on something like this. This would not be a $100K hit for anyone other than Suh, unfortunately. I predict that the next hit that he gets penalized for this season will be something that a no-name player might have gotten away with, but there will be an equally large fine and/or suspension waiting for Suh as well. It's too bad, because I like Suh, and his personality and demeanor were excellent during his time at NU, but his NFL on-field persona has gone the other way.
  15. Sounds like a good idea. But, asking Nebraska fans to wear anything but red will only create an unimpressive clusterf#&k of mottled splotchyness, imo.
  16. $h!t, forget I said anything then! This thread is supposed to be about positives; that's not the vibe a get when I look at that list of games. The thread is about positives, sure, but the specific question was games we started out well in. Sorry if I rained on the parade answering it properly Well, I almost started an argument regarding the definitions of "hot start" or "unanswered", but I'm not Devnet. I think the real positive is that last year's game was a night game on the road, with a ton of poor tackling and slow pursuit, tons of special teams mistakes, and poor play calling when we needed a good drive, yet we lost by only one score. We know that the speed on D is better and we have the home field, so I honestly think that if NU avoid too many mistakes, it's a victory. We don't necessarily need a perfect game, just not a bad one.
  17. Big 12 Championship game against Oklahoma. Well, crap. This isn't really accurate, at least not by my estimation. Here's games since 2010 where we have gotten off to hot starts against decent teams: 2011 Wisconsin - scored first, then again to lead 14-7 early. 2011 Michigan State - had the first two scores of the game both in the first quarter 2011 South Carolina - Scored all of our points in the first quarter 2012 Ohio State - they scored first, but we responded with three unanswered scores to lead 17-7 $h!t, forget I said anything then! This thread is supposed to be about positives; that's not the vibe a get when I look at that list of games.
  18. I wouldn't call that a bona fide offer. But keep asking them questions. Their willingness to respond to you and the info they give you will help you guage their interest even if they aren't making offers yet. Either way, try to negotiate and be willing to walk away.
  19. Big 12 Championship game against Oklahoma. Well, crap.
  20. For once, I'd like to see NU get off to a hot start. When was the last time that happened against a decent team? If we can start well and maintain confidence and crowd support, the ingredients are there for a big win.
