  1. we must have been in different neighborhoods. i thought most places off the strip were crap holes. He installed clay tile at night on fancy houses......said the U and social life was separate from the strip ........that's all I got. The few times I've been there it looked fine to me ,nicer than my Lincoln neighborhood.
  2. There are Nebraska kids playing football for better and higher ranked teams than the Huskers. Stanford has a good one right now. Kansas St. doesn't mind poaching our best players. The best players in this state should be playing for Nebraska. We aren't talking about all out devotion to recruiting this state. It's our own back yard! It's easy to know where the best players are and to evaluate them. Quit bitching about access to a private plane and just get in a car, drive an hour, and check out a game. Secondly, why do we act like we are recruiting ready to play all stars? The college game is where these kids are developed. Were we not able to evaluate the basic strengths of a player such as footwork and upper body strength? Hand strength? Or maybe, just maybe we knew player development wasn't a strong suit. I don't know. I'm glad the circus tents are gone and the show has left town. Everything we've heard about Riley says he's a talent evaluator, teacher and developer. Not a doubt in my mind he knows how to spot teachable kids and mold them. I know it's kind of a new concept for some of you. It's been awhile since we developed a player. Obviously recruiting Texas and Cali's three and four star players has just been miraculous for the former staff.....#9wins. So you're saying Bo didn't recruit Nebraska players? Seems like we hear that line of bull from the local sports writers who are perpetually desperate for a story every time there's a coaching change. The only one I know who missed big time was Callahan (and to some extent Solich) who thought Danny Woodhead wasn't big enough. I'm all for recruiting locals and the walkon program, but let's not turn it into some big failure of the former staff just because we're hurting for a story. And another thing, let's not act like we're the only program in the country that encourages walkons and develops unrecruited no-star players.......every school does. Oh, and Callahan more than made up for missing Woodhead when he got back to the NFL.
  3. Interesting ......good luck to both of them. I worked with a guy who had great things to say about Vegas.....the casinos and the town are two different places and it's a very nice city to live in.
  4. Zone blocking is when the linemen stand side by side after the ball is snapped and commence to sashaying around and doing jazz hands like they're reenacting 'Guys and Dolls'. If I remember right , it first appeared in Nebraska under Callahan with the West Coast offense.
  5. Hope they don't.......we hear these homer stories every time, as if the championship teams were made up of mostly locals and walkons. Better recruit the populated areas instead and quit all this nostalgia and wishful thinking.
  6. This football scoop guy really seem to know his stuff... I love the indepth analysis of the Twitterverse.
  7. I'll probably be out to Big Red, Red Fox ,or Spikes.
  8. Unbelievably bad shooting.......unbelievably dumb choices by Cincy. Let Benny shoot more.
  9. I don't think anyone is gonna say........it was probably a bunch of "do your best"......"I'm gonna miss you guys" kinda stuff......and answering the questions from players who felt in the dark about the whole thing. I heard snippets that it was more "how I got screwed" Who did you hear that from.......players? If that's true then it would be interesting to know what Bo thinks happened.

  11. I can't pick any of them......I'd have to say it's a headscratcher but I'll wait and see how they do since I know nothing about them....could be a big flop, could be the best hire ever...what's with all the drama?
  12. If Riley is going to be the OC too then that leaves 4 paid assistant coach positions open. I really hope he takes our current DL, Secondary and running backs (Brown) coaches (sorry I suck with names). don't know/think that will happen but hears to hoping.. Me too......I didn't realize Bussey was so stuck on Brown, Ron must've really made an impression on the family.
  13. Usually a coach plays the experienced guys until the new ones prove they're better and can handle it. I've been told that a hit by a college player is different than a little tap from a high school player and sometimes the new kids change their attitude after they've taken a real hit a few times. That's why the guys sashaying around in their high school videos sometimes look timid and hesitant on a college field. I think both Bo and Mike know this. Personally I'd be thinking of ways to use Pierson-El much more since he's fearless and runs like Johnny the Jet out there.
  14. I think they should pay more to get a coach who has proven he's worth more, but just a general "we need to pay everyone more" makes no sense.
  15. We haven't seen Cross run behind a fullback.......will we run the zone read/hail Mary offense, doubtful......don't know anything about the new guys, so if Newby runs hesitant and fumbles too much then I still have to go with the experienced guy Cross until someone proves they're better in a real game, against 300 lb BIG guys whose main talent is falling on people. I'm also thinking maybe the BIG should drop football and go to Sumo Wrestling.
  16. I like the idea of Riley calling the offense.......I'd rather have the coach responsible for what's going on than just standing around. He has a ton of experience, let's see what he's got.
  17. I'm hoping we'll attack on defense and then run and catch passes on offense.......wait, not just attack on defense but break up or intercept passes and maybe cause some fumbles.........but mostly tackle them either in the backfield or before they get too many yards........no leaky yardage, definitely.....I pretty much want to do this stuff much more than USC. Once again. Thoughts?

  19. I can see Bo hanging out in Youngstown for a couple years since he's getting about 7 mill anyway and it's his and Mary Pat's hometown.......I can also see the kids wanting to finish school in Lincoln , so whatever. My wife says her and her girlfriends will still yell and make a fuss over Bo if they see him at Mickey D's......(prompting him to get it to go and get the heck out of there.)
  20. Since I checked yesterday, Riley has been excellent in all phases.
  21. Something tells me Brennan was told about the possibility of Anderson coming and decided to stay........he seemed awful excited about recruiting for OSU.
  22. Yes Yeah, I just looked it up. He was at Utah State and sounds like he likes being out west.
