  1. Whatever N. Korea's situation, it's none of our business. Let the communist Chinese feed them.
  2. I hope Miles has some tricks up his sleeve to get Gallegos hitting shots like he did when he first got here.
  3. I'm guessing that vehicle is meant to intimidate drug dealers or anyone who feels they need to protect themself from the authorities by building a fortress? It doesn't seem like a very smart idea to me.
  4. How about....scrap ACA....use the Commerce Clause to stop states and insurance companies from restraining trade......allowing clinics or hospitals to sell their own healthcare plans the same way phone companies sell phone plans.....have them buy group catastrophic coverage insurance plans for all their customers like large corporations buy at the best price anywhere in the world.......have states establish high-risk pools and subsidize the clinical groups according to the level of risk they take on....allow employers to get out of the insurance business by using HSA contributions as their only healthcare benefit or just drop the tax exemption of healthcare altogether and make it a level playing field between employer sponsored plans and privately bought plans....it's not really the rocket science the insurance industry and Progressives try to make it out to be.
  5. I'd like to think you are 100% wrong here, but... I've said this before, if Congress would have simply said something along the lines of: "We're going to provide a low cost health insurance plan to those who do not have it..." I sincerely doubt there would have been this ugly partisan bickering let alone a court case which goes all the way to scotus. Agree....they could've called it the Festivus For The Rest Of Us plan.
  6. To me it sounds like a big fuss about nothing. The players in the final 4 will be excited about playing whether it extends the season or not and the other bowls can just continue as usual. How they can make a big deal out of this...???
  7. I didn't realize they had made that much of a commitment to upgrading the facilities, now I'm more enthusiastic about the future than ever. No, it's not all about facilities but they sure don't hurt when you're trying to sell the program to top recruits.
  8. Apu: Hello Mr. Simpson, I saw you looking at the beef jerky - would you like to buy some. Homer: I'm not buying that crap, Apu. $5.00 is too much for that stuff. Apu: Very well. That will be 35 cents tax. I was thinking of not buying ten.....here's $3.50.
  9. A tax on doing nothing? Roberts is an idiot and a traitor. A logical solution to the problem of people who don't get insurance and the government ends up paying for it is to tax THEM for the services. This convoluted and idiotic ruling sets precedence that the communist government of the future can force you to participate in anything it deems worthy by taxing you for nonparticipation. It doesn't matter whether or not we vote out Obamatax.
  10. Biggs WILL redshirt and I agree with the Sports Nightly guys assessment to go with the seniors this year and let three new guys get acclimated and come out strong the next year.
  11. Based on what? that he played pretty good in high school? It's amazing how much people hype up these kids and expect them to come and be some game changer. Sure we could be better with him, but i think it's better if we don't put 1,000 lbs on his shoulder to come in here and make us a winning program because it isn't going to happen. I've watched him in plenty of games. He is a big body in the post, he can block shots and put pressure on shooters (ibaka) but has very average offense...which ever program he chooses he will be a mess for offenses in the middle, but he will not average 20 some points, maybe 10-14ish. He would be a big addition, but we will see what happens, and if he does choose a bigger program he will come off the bench whereas he could see good playing time right away here. Based on that we're a lousy team in a great league and if they are any good and make an impact here they would be noticed nationally. Why are you worried about putting pressure on this guy with 30 legit offers or any other top recruit who might consider the opportunity here? If they suck it doesn't matter where they go, if they're good they would get a ton of recognition here.
  12. Apples and oranges......who really knows how we compare to the competition those teams faced? The BIG isn't exactly a baseball powerhouse and we definitely need better starting pitching before we start worrying about competing at the CWS. Stats are deceiving, a look at the averages against the best teams is probably the best indicator of where we are.
  13. The thing about guys like Akoy is they can come in here and be an instant star in one of the best basketball conferences in the country. We also appear to be assembling a pretty good cast of teammates. Add our new facilities that will be second to none ,plus the media's fascination with the underdog story that Miles and Nebraska would be ,and it all adds up to a potentially BIG opportunity. If there's a school that supports its athletes more than Nebraska, I'd like to know what it is?
  14. Is this plan to keep Obama from being deported or just to pander to more stupid people for votes? Does Obama really have a plan or is he still running for the 2008 election? Romney/Rubio/Gingrich et al will have an all encompassing plan to address the mess that's been made and find reasonable solutions. We'll need all the Mexican and Central American workers we can get if the economy picks up....it's a demographic thing.
  15. Bloomberg is an overman who knows what's best for everyone. I'm not sure how any city could elect a megalomaniacal idiot like this guy. Oh yeah, ......New York.
  16. What a great article. Someone the other day said Miles reminds them of Connie Yori and I think they're right on with that observation. When we start winning we'll call him Saint Tim. Everybody throws in the "football school" thing but anybody around here knows 40,000 Husker fans would show up for hacky sack if we thought they could win.
  17. With any kind of success next year you would think we'd get Jackson. Glad Byron is coming.
  18. The unions people like are almost extinct. The majority of unions are government unions that shouldn't exist given their ability to influence elections and basically elect their employer who gives them whatever they want in return. Most of the others are government related....railroad, ports, trucking, and construction companies that rely heavily on government contracts that require union wages for no obvious reason. Ask anyone who has worked for or around a union about nepotism and other forms of favoritism in hiring and you'll understand why the average guy with any sense of fairness despises these closed family shops. It's a pendulum that swings according to work conditions and perceived fairness and that doesn't go unnoticed by large corporations that keep a close eye on their employee's feelings about the workplace and try to head off any problems in advance. Most employees and employers understand the give and take involved in advancement and profitability for both and see the union/robber baron relationship as the extreme they don't want. Better to work for a fair employer than two tyrants.
  19. I was surprised by the decision to hire him but it sounds like he's not the run-of-the-mill coach. Of course any success in b-ball at Nebraska will bring out a ton of enthusiasm and a packed arena.
  20. I would hope the coaching staff understands that sever handicap and makes it abundantly clear to every one they recruit. One thing Coach Erstad can sell is the college experience and still having a long incredibly successful career considering thats the path he took. are you in favor of kids being able to go pro after high school? or do you think they should implament a rule to make them go to college first like every other sport? Probably an unpopular opinion. I think if a team is willing to draft or sign an 18 year old they should be able to in any sport, football included. If they choose to go to school they commit for 3 years though so college programs don't become revolving doors with lowered academic purpose. Howdy. Sounds good to me as long as the commitment goes both ways. College baseball is mostly partial scholarships and very little commitment from the school and football is a year-by-year commitment from the school. As long as they both agree on the terms up front I'm okay with it.
