  1. You would pass with flying colors, then. What's the problem other than it being an inconvenience to you? Let me ask this. What answers are you looking for by asking the question of "why do you need a gun?" Do you think anyone who is thinking that it is his duty to buy a gun, drive 800 miles to Washington DC and shoot congressmen while playing baseball is honestly going to answer this? I would probably put down "hunting". Why wouldn't this person do the same thing? In other words, nothing is gained. Now, let's say this is put in place and some purposes are allowed and some not. The debate then is going to be what purposes are allowed. So, what purposes, in your mind, are going to be allowed and what aren't?
  2. Still nothing from Trump on this as far as I know. He probably doesn't want to criticize his new found best friend.
  3. Fox is very unique in that they were really the first network that pretty openly catered to one ideological group and convinced them that all other news outlets are horribly biased and should be avoided. By doing so, the other outlets can remain the same and at least close to the middle. Fox then can, over time, move their audience farther and farther away from the middle. By doing that, if you are one who only consumes Fox, that becomes the perceived norm. Anything else becomes very liberal and therefore confirming what they drilled into people's heads in the beginning. I don't know of anyone who only reads the NYT, Washpo, CNN...etc. like I know people who only watch Fox News.
  4. I have been spending more time than normal around my parents lately. I have spoken about them on here before. They are the typical elderly Trump supporter that sits down and watches Fox News for hours and soaks up all the crap they can about those evil liberals and Hillary and Obama are out to destroy America. Anyway, I refuse to even sit in the living room with them when Fox News is on. They finally were catching on and when I would come sit down, they would change. Well, last night I sat down and Fox (Hannity) was talking about the shootings. "Dad asked, What do you think about that?" I calmly expressed my feelings about how disappointed I am about what this country has become where all the sides do is demonize each other. Dad started in instantly talking about how this guy was a BERNIE supporter and how this happened because he was a liberal and he just can't figure out why "THEY hate Trump so much". I lost it......... I went off.....I expressed exactly why I can't stand Trump and gave all specific examples and reasons. My Dad sat their fairly quiet and my Mom would say...."I didn't know that". I said..."Fox News isn't going to tell you that because he's their God Child and you only listen to Fox News". My wife was digging her nails into my leg and I just didn't stop. I gave specific examples of Republican congressmen like Rand Paul (posted on here) tweeting last year about what the second amendment is for and picking up your musket if Trump didn't win....etc. I'm still pissed about the conversation just writing this post. Dad just sat back and said...."well, this is fun". and changed the channel. Sadly, my expressing my feelings won't change anything. My Dad I think is coming around slowly. He decided to change his registration from R to I. He has spoken negatively of some of the Fox guys including Hannity and O'Reilly before he was fired. I personally cannot stand to listen to Hannity. I know it is nothing but a partisan rant. I understand Fox has dropped or is dropping the motto 'Fair and Balanced' - maybe they are removing any pretense. Oh...in my rant about Fox News, my Dad had the gall to say...."Well, the New York Times is the WORST..." I shot back....who told you that......Trump and Fox???" He didn't say anything.
  5. I find Fox dropping their motto hilarious. Even their marketing department is realizing everyone knows it's a sham.
  6. That would be a shocker big time. And you base it on Just gut feeling. If the campaign was colluding with Russia, I don't see how he could have not known. It's a little bit like I know a lady who embezzled a bunch of money from her work over several years. She went to prison and her husband claimed he didn't know she was doing it. Meh.....that's hard to believe.

  8. I would encourage you to point out where people are being unfactual about Trump. But if everything Trump is doing is either foolish, unconstitutional or otherwise illegal, it can't be construed as a problem that HuskerBoard members discuss it. One guy shooting up a bunch of politicians is not a sufficient reason to stop being vigilant of Trump. The man bears much watching. Trump is such a loony toon that the unfactual pointing out that goes with him is far fewer than normal. But, it still happens. It has even been pointed out on here before.
  9. And....to say Iowa and Nebraska don't have a long standing history is not really accurate. Prior to joining the Big Ten, we had already played 41 times. There were long periods where we played each other every year and at least one year where we played twice.
  10. I didn't say Iowa COULDN'T be a rival. Just that they currently aren't IMO. Funny how all your examples are long running series with tons of history involved. That is nowhere near the case for Nebraska-Iowa. I've got no problem if some people want to view it as a rivalry but don't expect everyone to. Hell, some people still won't acknowledge that CU was ever our rival. I can respect that but I feel differently living in Colorado. I too resisted it for a long time because for so long it was completely lopsided and they were just another team we routinely trounced. That changed they became competitive and put the hurt on us a few times. Of course their asshat fans and the nastiness of the whole Sal Aunesse deal helped contribute. Similar to the way Switzer and the Sooner were often thorns in our side. I sense nothing remotely like that currently with Iowa. It could change but some made up, hoky trophy or decree by the B1G doesn't make it so. I didn't say it was the most heated or even a long standing rivalry. I simply believe that it is one along with Wisconsin. The CU rivalry is a good one as an example. It was a rivalry. We played each other probably as long as OU. Sure, they didn't have near the success we had historically....and...it wasn't nearly as nationally watched as OU. But, it still was a rivalry. But, a lot of Husker fans refuse to accept it because...you know....they aren't anywhere close to our level of program.
  11. I still think that Pence will be gone too.
  12. We are SOOO much more respected around the world now.
  13. Last year: Michigan/MSU - 2.9 Oklahoma/OSU - 3.1 Those are soooo much better ratings than we have had the last couple of years.
  14. Does that matter? Why was it relegated to FS1? The year before it was on ABC and we still beat it.
  15. And...all of those Iron Bowl games had one of the teams in the NC hunt. It wasn't because everyone around the country is saying...."OMG....THE IRON BOWL IS ON, I NEED TO SIT DOWN AND WATCH IT!!!"
  16. Really???? Red River Rivalry TV ratings: 2015 - 3.7 2016 - 2.0 Nebraska/Iowa 2015 - 3.9 2016 - 2.4 Alabama/Auburn was higher but it has Alabama which was in the NC hunt. That naturally is going to draw more TV sets....not necessarily because everyone cares about the rivalry. 2016 - 4.5 As a comparison, some other Alabama games that wouldn't be considers such a rivalry. Alabama/aTm - 5.0 Alabama/Tennessee - 3.9 Alabama/Arkansas - 2.5
  17. Sure there are varying degrees of rival as it pertains to national relevance and fan fervor. You say everyone on my list is nationally recognized. However, when Cubs vs. Cardinals rivalry started, I'm pretty sure someone sitting in California or Texas didn't give a rip about them being a rival....heck, they still might not. I'm pretty sure right now most people in the US other than those in Oklahoma and Texas don't give much thought to the Red River Rivalry. I know I personally don't. Do people around the country really care about Alabama vs. Auburn other than in a passing thought of...."wow...those fan bases hate each other"? I know I don't. I don't sit down and make sure I watch any of these games unless a team I'm a fan of is playing in them. BUT.....those fan bases think they are the biggest thing since pockets on a shirt. I don't give a rip what the rest of the country thinks about the Nebraska vs. Iowa or Nebraska vs. Wisconsin games. If that's what we are going to base this on, we should be polling all the non-Husker and Hawkeye fans instead of the fans themselves.
  18. No....sorry......that's where I would have to draw the line. I am all for doing back ground checks to keep guns out of the hands of felons and mentally unstable people. But, I am not for having to convince the government why I want to buy a gun every time I choose to do so even though I have never committed a crime and am never showed any signs of violence or mental problems.
  19. I would much rather the team stay here and focus on getting better during spring training and then pump money into programs like what Nebraska is doing with the PEO program. (post eligibility opportunities) These programs are great programs that get kids experiences they might never be able to experience....instead of a glorified trip to practice somewhere that just benefits one program.
  20. Husker fans are frustrated that we don't have a true rival anymore....well....this is one of the main reasons why we don't. Anytime another team starts to act like a rival, our fans stick up their noses and proclaim..."they aren't worthy". Right now our rivals are Iowa and Wisconsin. As for conference games played every year, those are the two that bring up the most excitement leading into the game and frustrations when we lose. Now, that might not be specifically for you. But, in general with the fan bases, these are it.
  21. So, Michigan vs. Michigan State isn't really a rivalry because Michigan State hasn't had the level of success Michigan has had. So, Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State isn't really a rivalry because Oklahoma State hasn't had the level of success Oklahoma has had. So, Alabama vs. Auburn isn't really a rivalry because Auburn hasn't had the level of success Alabama has had. So, Texas vs. aTm isn't really a rivalry because aTm hasn't had the level of success Texas has had. So, Cardinals vs. Cubs isn't really a rivalry because the Cubs haven't had the level of success the Cardinals have had. So, the Yankees vs. Mets really isn't a rivalry because the Mets haven't had the level of success the Yankees have had. So, back when Texas sucked and OU and Nebraska were ruling college football, UT vs. OU wasn't really a rivalry because UT sucked. I know Husker fans who believe Missouri was a rival. They didn't have anywhere close to the success we have had. This idea that Iowa can't be a rival because they don't have the past success or that the games don't have national consequences is laughable and there are examples all over sports of great rivals between teams that are uneven in past success. Many great rivalries are built on totally illogical reasons....many times based on things that don't even happen on the playing field.
  22. He has a very strange way of trying to look innocent.
  23. That's why I follow it with interest but I don't get emotionally tied up in it. I figured out a long time ago I'm not going to allow decisions by a 17-18 year old kid affect my happiness.
