  1. At most it looks like 3'. Look at the hash marks. The LOS is at the 24.5 yard mark and it looks like our guys have their hands on the ground at 23.5-24. They could be closer. I think what you are seeing is that their tackles feet are a good 6' off the ball (2 yards) and playing an up position. That means that the DE and tackle at least 7-8' apart but not necessarily because of where our guy lined up.
  2. I don't have a problem with Compton winning that. I just think that when we have one LB in the middle of the field, the smart thing for a team to do is run right at us. It's a match up problem more than it is a player problem.
  3. At this point, I don't see a big problem especially if our offense can score points. Just trying to figure out why our coaches have the players do what they do and trying to figure out why we can't stop a running QB.
  4. Defending mobile QBs has been a problem for a number of years at Nebraska. Once again, on Saturday, we saw Alford run quite a bit against us. Now, only giving up 13 points and something like 260 total yards is pretty decent. Like Bo, I think this defense could still be very good. But, my questions are about the two positions listed in the title. After rewatching the game twice, some things stood out. LB = When we play a Spread offense and are in the nickle or dime package, we basically only have one LB playing that position. Now, there might be another one like Whaley but he is split out fairly wide with no way of helping in the middle. What this did many times on Saturday it caused Compton to try to plug a hole. If one Lineman comes free, all the RB/QB has to do is read which side of that lineman Compton goes and going the other way easily sets up the block. Once that happens, it is 10-15 yards before anyone can catch him. DE = I always thought the first move a DE should make is up field from the outside so that he contains and doesn't allow anything outside him. What I saw on Saturday was many times the first move the DE makes is to the inside almost to try to collapse OT or TE into the LOS. Many times what this allowed was the RB/QB to get outside and make a good play. I have to admit, I don't understand these two concepts. It seems like we are setting ourselves up for big plays with was we are doing with these two positions. With the DE doing what I saw, it makes him APPEAR to be slow because he doesn't get off the LOS until he reads what is going on. By that time, someone is there to block him. Anyone else have thoughts on this? Now, this all very well may change when we get into conference play when we play more power run teams and have more LBs on the field. Hopefully so. Maybe these spread teams force Bo into playing so few LBs that giving up a few yards to the QB run is simply the price you pay for shutting everything else down.
  5. So, let me get this straight. On one hand, we have a true freshman RB who left because he didn't get much playing time (at least in the fan's eyes even though in fall camp he was claiming he wasn't happy) On the other hand, we have a true freshman lineman who played a ton of snaps and was the man when the guy ahead of him was injured. He was going to be on the two deep this year which means lots of playing time for a guy with his experience....and he leaves in a huff.... Sometimes a coach just can't win in these situations. You wish them well and move on and win with kids who want to be here.
  6. Which is why polls are the worst way to crown a champion. Absolutely worst. There is no way even the AP voters can watch every game and analyze is the way it would need to be done.
  7. Only when I think it's justified. My standards and expectations aren't dependent on the letter after the name. whoa, when did george w. bush enter the conversation? I think you mean to say Jimmy Carter, I know you have a problem with spelling and comprehension. Carter was bad. So was W. The failure of one doesn't justify the failure of the other . . . does it? And as bad as both of those were, they still get beat by Obama.
  8. Probably the same way you keep defending the most pathetic President in a very long time.
  9. That is a good one. Does anyone know if the team still says that prayer before games and when it got started?
  10. We'll see how much clamoring for Carnes there is this year. He was supposed to be our "savior" last year (according to some) and now he's #4. Hmmmmmm....... I think this says one heck of a lot about what some fans were complaining about last year.
  11. All looks pretty good to me. Nickens is a walk-on junior from Alliance, NE.
  12. This is always a classic the day before a game.
  13. A non-recurring expense. (expenditure) But...WWII is made of of lots of "non-recurring expenses"....it's not just one. . . . . and so is the stimulus bill. Where are you going with this BRB? No it's not. There wasn't one bill that told Congress to spend Billions of dollars on WWII. It was a series of events that lead to that amount of money being spent. When we went to war with Japan, congress didn't say..."Hmmm...I want you to also spend all the money you are going to spend in Germany also". The Stimulus Bill was one act of congress that said they are going to spend XXXX amount of money.
  14. A non-recurring expense. (expenditure) But...WWII is made of of lots of "non-recurring expenses"....it's not just one.
  15. Here's your problem . . . Ryan didn't say "one time bill." Of course, if you change all of the words in his speech you can make it seem like he told no lies at all. Sooo....one time expendature means what?
  16. Uh . . . http://www.huskerboa...post__p__994210 Ah. WWII happened more than once? So, there was a one time bill that funded the entire WWII? Ok...got it. If you're told to provide something . . . and then given money in the form of a tax credit to pay for it . . . how is that a tax? "Most small businesses, then, get a tax cut, and the number of small businesses facing tax increases is about five thousand, far under a million."
  17. GM Plant fact check. http://articles.cnn.com/2012-08-30/politics/politics_pol-fact-check-ryan-gm_1_gm-plant-president-obama-barack-obama/2
  18. GM Plant = Show me where Ryan said it happened under Obama's watch. All he said was that if the government comes in and supports the plant it will stay open. The government did....and it didn't stay open. Stimulus is largest one time expendature = It compares WWII and WWII wasn't a one time expendature. Affordable care act = It claims it isn't a tax on small businesses but then it claims that if you have over 50 employees you will be forced to offer health care per the government. If the company doesn't have health care, then this is a mandated expense from the government. What is that if it isn't a tax? Stimulus wasn't full of fraud that went as paybacks and cronyism = This is the biggest laughable one. Then entire GM government takeover of a private industry is a payback to unions who supported him in his campaign. The entire GM deal was a disaster and completely out of the constitutional powers of the federal government. All to help unions. Affordable care act = It IS a government take over of health care. Insurance companies are involved in it but, it is mandated by the government that everyone is required to have it or pay a fine (which is completely laughable and impossible for the government to inforce) The government tells health insurance companies how to run their businesses and it tells private industry that they are REQUIRED to purchase it. How is that not a government take over? The affordable Care Act bill is the biggest idiotic peace of crap legislation this country has ever been faced with and any President that pushed for it should in no way shape or form be allowed to have a second term.
  19. I didn't get to watch the game but it sounds like what happens many times when a team that should be decent plays a horrible team in the first game. We still don't know how good UCLA is. I'm going to be nervous about this road game till it is over. I hope we go out and kick their tails all over the field.
  20. I didn't watch it but I read the transcript. Breathtaking dishonesty. Even by political standards. You just demonstrated the problem with the modern right more perfectly than I could describe it. Thank you. If lies are (rightfully!) pointed out it must be because it's from a hate-mongering liberal journalist. Objective reality doesn't exist. Care to elaborate?
  21. I always find it laughable when liberals claim that Fox News is all lies and then never say anything about MSNBC.
