  1. I think that Newby and Cross can both be successful if they are used correctly. To do that Riley and Langsdorf might have to go outside their comfort zone a little bit. We saw during the USA game that Newby can be very good in space, but against better competition there aren't always all those wide alleys when you run a lot of zone and stretch plays. I would like to see them try Newby on the jet sweep, I know that Moore has done a great job and DPE is going to be 100% soon, but it would give Newby a chance to get to the edge quick which is his strength IMO. I think he would also be successful with the swing pass motion like UCLA does. If he can get matched up with a linebacker and can catch the ball and go instead of hesitating that can be dangerous. As for Cross I don't know why the old staff and the current staff call stretch plays when he is in the game. He should be in there in short yardage situations but can also come in on first and 10 if they call an iso or just something that gets him North and South instead of running to the outside. Wilbon and Ozigbo seem to be the most complete backs for running the ball thus far. If they struggle with catching and pass protect that's fine but they definitely deserve some playing time. There's a lot of talent at the RB position so they might as well try to find a way to use these guys even if it requires a lot of rotation.
  2. It's a real shame that we played our best baseball when it didn't matter.
  3. No their offensive coordinator is their QB coach as well.
  4. Yea he just got bear hugged but surprise, surprise no flag.
  5. Garth Brooks George Strait Alan Jackson Out of left field on my list I have to agree on Lizzy Hale, she is very talented.
  6. I'm going to give Coach Riley a chance and as long he's head coach at Nebraska I will support him just I did with Bo. However, I'm not going to lie and say that I wasn't underwhelmed with his hire. That's mainly because there's been this mentality that we are Nebraska and we could open the checkbook and get anybody we wanted with top notch assistants and we hire Mike Riley. Claiming that the "Bo-lievers" are just mad about him getting fired is ridiculous as saying that the "Bo-leavers" are so happy that Bo is gone that they don't care who the new coach is. I think more people have a wait and see attitude that we think, just some of us are more skeptical of others. At least we'll have plenty to talk about during the off season.
  7. It wasn't the quantity of wins, it was the quality of wins. No question. But would this fan base look past a 7-6 season? I think next year he gets a pass, even with a favorable schedule. But if he doesn't deliver by year 2, things heat up, imo. Before Bo got fired, some guys at work and I were looking at the 2015 schedule and thought there was a very good possibility that given the way the team played this year, they would likely go 7-5 next season. So in my opinion, if Riley goes 7-5 next year it would not be a huge deal, and if he goes 8-4 or better it is an improvement! I'm hoping he can do MUCH better than that, which is all up-side! Here was our prediction for Bo next season if he were still coaching: W - BYU W - South Alabama L - @ Miami W - Southern Miss W - @ Illinois L - Wisconsin L - @ Minnesota W - Northwestern W - @ Purdue L - Michigan St W - @ Rutgers L - Iowa We went back and forth on that Iowa prediction but it seems the road team has the edge in that series, so we gave Iowa the win! 7-5 would be unacceptable if Bo would have given another year and it would not be a big deal if Riley did it. It's been two years of talking about lowering expectations and accepting mediocrity so let's not start now. I don't think you understand what normally happens with coaching transitions. 7-5 is more acceptable under a new coach than it would have been under Pelini. Of course that doesn't mean people would be content with it. And doing it in the 2nd year would not be acceptable. I understand that there are growing pains under a new coach but, the argument that our scheduling and division is such crap that 8 wins is automatic is thrown out the window?

  9. Maybe we as fans need to learn the same life lesson? C'mon. If your boss got fired, are you going to take to twitter, and say "You guys don't know what the hell you're doing." No. You're gonna put your head down, say, "That's too bad, wish you well," then get your a** back to work. That's not what I was getting at but, yeah the A.D. comments are little uncalled for.
  10. Maybe we as fans need to learn the same life lesson?
  11. why?Standards, expectations, tradition, resources, facilities, talent. The ONLY missing link has been coaching. I'm totally fine with Pelini's firing, but there should be no backpedaling on where we go from here.so the next coach should be afforded less of a chance, less time, than bo? Yes#NoExcuses The board could be fun next year IF it's a 7-5 type of season, the "apologists" and "haters" will switch roles.
  12. My sources told me Charlie Sheen was flown into Lincoln late last night and is set to be introduced as head coach as early as Wednesday morning. Sheen lacks head coaching experience but he can offer enough coke and hookers to compete with SEC recruiting and not to mention... #winning!
  13. It was quite the roller coaster ride, but some of it was fun as hell.
  14. He might be packing his bags on his own terms if Barry Alvarez retires anytime soon. He says all the right things in the press conference, makes the splash hire with Tressel, and that helps him land his dream job in Wisconsin before things have a chance to fail.
  15. His best season in FBS is 10-3, he has 4 ACC Coastal Division Championships (The 2009 conference championship was vacated because of sanctions), a 3-7 bowl record, and his records from 2010 to 2013 were: 6-7, 8-5, 7-7, and 7-6. I don't see him much, if any, more impressive than Bo.
  16. I won't claim to be a defensive genius but, after Gordon's first long run the LB and secondary went scared. After that run the rest of the game they all had stone feet and waited for the ball to get to them. In that case it really is an execution problem. However, it's a coaching problem that it wasn't fixed. Maybe the coaches were telling the players that but they still had a mental block the rest of the game. I don't know and nobody else does either. There's no doubt there's a problem that needs to be fixed but, I don't know where to start. I don't think cleaning house will be a magical fix but, coordinators and position coaches need to be looked at very closely in January.
  17. I wouldnt call two blowouts out of three games a rivalry. Also if Alverez wasnt at Wisconsin i really wonder if we would attempt a rivalry with them. Let's face it, none of the B1G opponents feel anything like a rivalry. Nebraska and Colorado were real rivals. They hated us, we hated them. It has tradition being a Black Friday game yearly. I for one thought I'd never say this, but like some have said, I miss playing Big 12 schools. I miss playing Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma state, k state, Missouri, Colorado, A&M etc. it just took a few years to realize it. Colorado was not a real rival. They were manufactured just like Iowa. After we stopped playing OU after Thanksgiving, we needed someone to play and Wa La, here is the Buffs. I would rather of had Mizzou, but who in the Big XII North really could be a REAL rival? Mizzou was actually considered a rivalry and the teams played for the Victory Bell (or Missouri - Nebraska Bell) starting in 1927. It was definitely a lesser known rivalry.
  18. Yes that's exactly what the "Greatest fans in college football" should do Everybody understands you hate Beck but come on.
  19. Except they weren't. They were sending corners to blitz.... They sent a safety and still had 3 corners covering the WRs.
  20. Announcers confirming what you posted... Wait. Are you guys honestly complaining about play calling that led to a TD? if we're going to keep running the ball, having three wideouts is a waste of manpower... Not really, it makes them cover the WR's instead of stacking the box.
