  1. What if SE knew beforehand that there was a strong possibility Anderson would replace Riley at OSU and this was all part of his plan??
  2. My vote was to lose to Iowa to get Bo fired and then rebound to win the bowl game, assuming Bo is already gone. Can't recall too many cases where coaches were fired after bowl games and I don't think that's the best way to go.
  3. Will gladly take the loss if it means getting a new coach. If the decision is already made, please give me a W and something to smile about during Thanksgiving weekend.
  4. Sorry about that, Nick. I was wondering why it wasn't already a thread. Mods - Feel free to delete
  5. You think Arkansas is one of the jobs Pelini leaves Nebraska for? I don't think we can ever agree on that. However, I have been wrong before. If I had to put money on it I would say he stays. Especially after the success we've had this year and the outlook for the future. Only reasons I could see him leaving: More $$ + SEC talent
  6. The Arkansas AD has publicly made it known that he's interested in Bo and feels that Bo would be a good fit for the soon-to-be vacant job. Rumors about Bo pop up for every job opening, but this one's a little different since they have come out and said they'll be pursuing him. Hope he stays, and I think he will, but I could see Arkansas being one of the few schools Bo would leave Nebraska for. Link: http://sports.omaha.com/2012/11/13/arkansas-looking-at-bo/
  7. And that's where you demonstrate that you have no idea what the heck you're talking about. You're right. Bo is absolutely perfect in every way and I was wrong for questioning the way he criticizes his players. My apologies. Nobody has made that claim to my knowledge, and certainly not me. All that's being said is that this isn't some indication of major problems or an out of control coach as you seem to be asserting (with precious little to back it up). Not major problems, but I do think he can and should dish out criticism in a different manner. Osborne coached his players just as much but didn't have to drop f-bombs and insult his players in order to get his point across.
  8. I bet you're wrong. But I bet that 75% of this board knows that Bo doesn't constantly put his team down. Bo believes it's ok to raise your voice, but you should always be coaching letting them know what they did wrong and how to fix it. He isn't just yelling to be a prick or pick on guys, there's always a reason. This is where our opinions differ. 10. If Bo smacked a kid I have a feeling that 75% of this board would support it.
  11. I'm sorry, but two players lashing back at the coach in a 4 game span is not normal. I don't recall one player ever doing that to TO. Or Bill Snyder. Or Saban, who yells at his players as much as Bo. It shows a lack of respect and it shows that some of the players are tired of constantly being put down by the coach. I'm not a lip-reading expert, but "Don't talk to me like that" is pretty easy to decipher in the video.
  12. Saban = 3 NC's = Disciplinarian Pelini = 0 CC's, 0 NC's = Hothead Once he wins something the perception of him will change. The caller actually had a legit question but he was too much of a d-bag to ask it in the right way.
  13. Bo's certainly not going to outcoach Bill, and Penn St. will get their points, but I think our talent wins out in the end. Penn St. hung with Ohio St. for almost 3 quarters, but eventually Ohio St. wore them down and PSU couldn't keep up.
  14. Is Michigan State's special teams really that bad? Do they typically have 15 yards punts almost every game? Do they make a habit of fielding kicks in the endzone only to bring them out to the 12? Honestly, I don't know. I haven't watched Michigan State play much. Agreed. Our special teams is overrated this year because of what they've done the past few years. Nothing too special about them this year. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Papuchis was in charge of special teams until he became DC, which is exactly when our advantage in that phase of the game vanished.
  15. Your reputation precedes you. Perhaps the officials already have it out for Bo before they even work a Nebraska game. Also, behavior like this is more widely accepted when you win. Give Bo a couple conference championships and he's considered a fierce competitor. Zero championships and he's considered a hothead.
  16. Thanks for looking that up, Knapp. Is it possible to see if we've had the African American ref that flagged Bo do more than UCLA and Michigan? And possibly the umpire, Jim Shaw, who I believe is in charge of making (or not making) the holding calls?
  17. One way or another, right or wrong, the officials (at least that crew in particular) have it out for Bo. It will be interesting to see what happens if we have them again. Hopefully it's not at MSU or in Indy.
  18. So if the calls were biased, and it wasn't because of Bo's attitude... then the only logical explanation is that the officials must be betting on their own games.
  19. The cameras show him every game yelling something to the officials. Just because it's not a Texas A&M meltdown doesn't mean he's not cursing them out. I just don't think the officials could be that horrible and there's got to be some sort of grudge against Bo involved. . I agree, but it's easier said than done. I was just told by a coworker that prior to the game the university had requested not to have the sideline ref officiate any more Nebraska games. So there was obviously something going on even before Saturday.
  20. I'm thinking T-Mart's ankle might have something to do with this spread. He was limping pretty good in that second half and Vegas typically knows more than the media when it comes to injuries.
  21. Trust me, I'm not supporting them and I agree that the officiating was atrocious on Saturday. I was yelling at them from my couch as much as the next guy. I'm just saying that they're human and Bo's not helping himself out by cursing at them every game. I've heard that "oral fixators" is his most commonly used insult. Part of being a good coach is handling the officials, and Bo is horrible in this area. Close games are often decided by a late call and it would be beneficial for us to have the officials on our side once in a while.
  22. I've never seen more missed holding calls in one game. They say holding can be called on every play, and that's probably true, but there were several obvious jersey grabs that weren't called in this game. Ironically, the two holds that the refs decided to call were declined (one was on 3rd down and one on PJ's INT). It was pretty apparent watching that game that we weren't going to get any help from the officials. That being said, I believe the reason for this is that the B1G crews are enduring their second season of Bo Pelini. He rips into every crew every game and it does nothing but hurt the team in the end. Sometimes he has plenty of reason to argue, but there's a right and wrong way to communicate with the officials. I've been officiating football, baseball and basketball for over 10 years. I can tell you that the way a coach talks to the officials DOES make a difference in how the game is called. If a coach is constantly screaming at the crew, they're probably not going to give his team the benefit of the doubt when a call can go either way. They're not going to go out of their way to make the team lose, but they're certainly not going to help out the irate coach if they don't have to. Unfortunately, that's just the way it is. You can say that the refs are getting paid to call the game fairly, but they're human and Bo needs to start treating them that way.
  23. Good call, I noticed that too. I can't think of one batted down ball we've had all season. In Pelini's first two seasons, our D-Line was great at tipping the ball and they turned into picks (Suh's pick 6 vs. Colorado and Hagg's INT vs. Texas). If our D-Line's not gonna get any pressure at least get your hands up and knock it down!
  24. If you wanna be the best you gotta beat the best. I would love to play the SEC in a bowl game every year. It's a great benchmark for where our team is at. Plus a win can carry a lot of momentum during the offseason.
