  1. Your also saying 9 win seasons isn't good enough, even though he has never had head coaching experience before? Let alone, he was never given talent to work with, and he has hired some great help, who have yet to be able to make an impact due to them being employed with us for less than 9 months. I will take 9 win seasons, as it shows consistency and eventually you will build a strong program you had pictured and you will win BCS bowl games and National Titles. Everyone acts like its so damn easy.
  2. Neither of those definitions have anything to do with an incident or an accident. Is he being credited for something he did not do? Did he cheat people out of anything? Just because he "looks" like a nice guy in commercials, and isn't nice and hurts your feelings, doesn't mean he is a "fraud"
  3. Fraud isn't the word to be used for him. Who cares if he isn't a nice person, get over it. He is a genuine person, and his proceeds to NU and his off the field performance shows that. To each their own. This is a simple accident, and again, people assume they know the situation, which not even the police know yet.
  4. If that would happen.... then this would happen
  5. Osborne's philosophy was easy... Dual threat QB, more legs than arm, a FB and an IB and run, and run hard. Have a QB with a good enough arm to get the job done when we need to throw, or when we know we can get the defense to bite on a run, and utilize the TE. These are the same things we are slowly resorting back to, and I am happy to have two very good FB's to help make holes for Rex and company.
  6. Cause Stoops had a better team right away than Pelini... Exactly. Stoops had the personel he needed from the beginning, basically handed to him. Unlike Pelini, it was "Hey Callahan is gone, keep what you want, and hire who you need, but keep Shawn Watson" Eventually he got smart and helped him find another job and promoted Tim Beck. Another guy who had no experience, but he proved everyone wrong with a dynamic offense. Bo's best defenses came from Callahan players... Pelini got players who talents were wasted, and luckily he was able to turn them into great players. The ONLY thing Callahan could do, was recruit, I have never denied that, but he had the most talent being wasted, than I have ever seen. Being a first time HC, its hard to recruit. VERY hard, and having no big names under you, its even more difficult. We have big names, and ones he trusts, which will make recruiting better for the years to come, and the commit list so far should show that.

  8. LSU is good, but we need to schedule someone we most likely wouldn't see in a BCS bowl game, since we mostly meet SEC teams. I would say schedule USC or Stanford, someone in that caliber at least.
  9. Even if he stated the number of years at a particular program, he would be putting his own fist in his mouth, as he was trying to state that an inexperienced coach (all of them) have done what most of everyone said has not been done. Sure two coaches, which one had a 13-24 his previous 3 years. One championship and nothing now.
  10. Your statement about Saban Is What scares me about Bo. We run him off and he'll go somewhere and rip off about 4 titles! I see it this way, as long as we are taking steps forward, I am fine with the way things are. He has yet to have less than 4 losses in a season, with absolutely no experience at HC, let alone hiring these "rookies" under him. Tim Beck for example is someone almost everyone wanted out, but look at it now. BOOM BEST offense we have had with the most depth ever in history. Yeah we turn the ball over, but that has nothing to do with the play calling! Its the lack of responsibility with the ball. You have Rex out there losing the ball! Someone who doesn't normally do that, but it happens, but we still score 30+ points, and 38 against a very good defense. We red shirted a lot of talent on the defense this year, expecting we wouldn't need them, but I have a feeling, you will see some of them on the field against Northwestern. I could very well be wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised.
  11. From my short time here, I have realized that Lando is just a very upset person, and seems to completely hate everything about Nebraska, starting with Bo, to the coaching staff, to Martinez and ending with the whole defense in general. A "fan" that will never be happy. To clarify your post.... Stoops- Yes year two, he won National Title Larry Coker - Yes, he won a National Title his first year, but if I remember right, didn't they only lose one game the year before? Meaning he played off the success and players recruited from the coach before. Not taking any credit away from him, as he did win one, but the school wasn't having the worst 4 years of school history before he became HC. Jim Tressel - OSU wasn't his first head coaching job, so therefore, your statement is completely invalid. Let alone, Cooper was let go when OSU was still not having a losing record, and is strong on recruiting. Nick Saban -It took 14 years for Saban to win a championship and finally struck gold when he went to Alabama. Another coach who had time to LEARN the HC position. It took him 3 previous Head Coaching jobs to be exact. Pete Carroll - Wasn't Pete Carroll's first HC gig with the NFL? Again, another coach who had previous experience before he went to USC. 6&6 even as his first season. Urban Meyer - Urban Meyer took 4 years to become a National Title to win. Les Miles - Les Miles has yet to have an undefeated season, and honestly, the reason they see a National Title with a loss or two, is because they are in the SEC. Two loss season, you would never see Nebraska there. I also believe LSU was handed over in great shape to him, and the only reason there was a coaching change, was because LSU got beat my Iowa in the Capital One bowl. Gene Chizik - Look at his first 3 years as HC! 13-24 win to loss!!! Then he goes to an SEC school where recruiting is strong! Sure takes a good coach to win a National Title, but your blind to the other numbers that Bo isn't even close to! That guy lost more games in 3 years, than Bo has in 4 1/2!
  12. HuskerShark, I completely agree. Statements were made that there will be a lot of changes, and I have a feeling some red shirts will be pulled. In a way, I hope not, but at the same time, I hope so.
  13. A win is a win in the record books, no matter how ugly or beautifully its done. Your asking Husker fans a question you know the answer to already... some will never be happy, even if we win by 30+ points on every game.
  14. Perfectly said! And why did NU decide to hire a guy with no experience who had to learn on the job at NU. It would have made more sense to hire an experienced proven coach who could already do this balancing act (as well as a dozen or more other things) rather than hire a guy who will cut his teeth at the expense of your program. I am clearly on that side that says the Bo is unfit to be a head coach. I said the same thing the day he was hired. It was a mistake to hire a guy w/o any experience. Simple and certain. Hire proven experience and nothing else... or, live with the growing pains... which is what we are doing now. Yep, Callahan was proven that experience pays off Osborne=success after a period of time= First gig at HC Solich= successful record/career= First gig at HC Callahan= FAILURE= Previous HC experience Bo= 70% win ratio after turning a program around from its worst 4 seasons in school history= First gig at HC Devaney is the only coach to come to NU with previous experience and do fantastic, but then again, it took time. Something majority of our society/fan base doesn't understand. Callahan probably had the best recruiting classes we have ever had, but also showed that great talent can easily be wasted.
  15. I think Pelini is being pressured more by Papuchis about the 3-4, and sees it more now than he did before. I have always been a fan of the 3-4 defense, but I am also one not up for change. Doesn't mean moving defensive scheme is going to make us magically better, because we still have issues with tackling and executing your role on the field. Misreads are killing us, and its frustrating Bo, as you seen on the sideline. Its unexcusable for our leaders (seniors) to be making those mistakes, but the one thing you can't teach, is instinct. Some players have it, some don't. Lavonte David had it, Compton doesn't. Compton is a good player, and I am not taking credit away from him, but he isn't elite, like we are use to having each year. Suh, David, Amakamura, Gomez, Dennard, Crick (when he was healthy), Hagg, Rudd family and Groce.
  16. Its Bo's job to hire the help to balance the two out. He is still in his trial and error with coaches, and the right actions have been taken. Shawn Watson gone, Beck in. Many were skeptical, but we have a very diverse offense. It didn't help with Carl leaving for our defense, but he promoted some guys at the end of last season, and brought it some great talent that will help with our recruiting. Sure many state we have waited 4 years, now 5, but we are progressing, many are just numb to the "building" but that is what Bo is doing. Coach Kaz has and will help with the line. Vincent Valentine and Aaron Curry, (If they stay healthy while being red shirted, will make a huge impact along with Chase Rome on the DL. We have recruited and remain recruiting some fast LB's, and it will pay off. Terry Joseph has us ranked at 13th for our passing D, which is the best its been since Amakamura and company left. Safety spot is the weakest we have in the secondary, but again, we have kids to fill shoes when our starters leave, IE: Johathan Rose taking Stafford's position next year. DB, we are stacked and will remain stacked.
  17. We are full on LB's, with depth, and gets better next year. Reason we don't see more, is because they are young with more to learn, and red shirted/injured. These players will carry on to next year: Brown, Afalava, Santos, Anderson, Fisher (if he decided to get his medical red shirt), Rose & Roach (Who is getting better by reports). Next year, we have talent as well (No LOI has been signed yet, but still commits) Josh Bandares, Marcus Newby & Courtney Love. Who knows if any walk on talent emerges as well, or if someone I didn't mention on our roster comes out of nowhere, like Pirman. No need to convert any players in my opinion.
  18. I think his team showed plenty of weakness on Saturday. Admitting it frustrated them would hardly make it any worse. I said his in game demeanor has improved. However, spitting mad rants on the sideline don't show "football passion" they show a person incapable of controlling their temper and I fail to see how this "quality" has done much to fire up the team. Lying, in my experience, is a bad idea all around. It's a sad reality that telling the truth is seen as "showing weakness." That's where we have our differences, if someone blows their cover, multiple times, I don't have a problem with him ranting on the sideline to that said player. You do wrong, you point it out. Now people take the context of him yelling last week, just like they did against the TAMU game with Martinez. Discipline is a thing he has enforced and will continue to force. Your a STARTER, you shouldn't be making mistakes like that. I have not seen Pelini lie, but I have seen him avoid an answer, which is something ALL coaches do when they are frustrated. He has stated that its his fault, the coaches fault for that loss at OSU, and it trickled down to the players, what else do you want? Want him to go on Dr. Phil and express his true feelings?
  19. Stinkney, I am sure doesn't want to state that his team is frustrated, as it would show weakness, something that Pelini tries to hide. I love how people talk about these "meltdowns". I don't see it as a meltdown, as much as I do a guy who is not afraid to let someone know that they did something wrong, and he has a PASSION for the game. Rather have a passionate coach than a hush puppy. Your comment about him not knowing what people say, of course we know its a lie, but why admit it, so more people rant and cry? Maybe the lack of support from a lot of people has an issue with his coaching? You never know, but never show weakness as a HC. Take accountability and move on. For my answer to the OP, he has had my support since day one and still does. When we have a losing season, then I will question my support. People tend to forget, this is his first head coaching job. No coach has won a National Title in their first 5 years of becoming a HC for the first time. We are getting better where we were weak. People are too blind to see that sometimes. Offense is 1000 times better than it was when Pelini got here, sure there are turnovers, but WE SCORE POINTS, and that is all you can ask for. Defense has gone slightly downhill every year, but your looking at a whole new coaching change from last year to this year, you can't expect things to be peachy. New coaches bring in new talent, which helps us out a TON. The names Coach Kaz and Terry Joseph is enough to prove that statement.
  20. Our safeties are good, but not great. Stafford can lay a player out, but his knowledge of where the ball is, lacks. I think this is going to be one of those "play with what we have, make the best of it until next year" type of things. I wish we could see what Jonathan Rose can do, but unfortunately we will have to wait till next year lol. He is suppose to be elite, and due to reports, he has the ability to cover his posts, and get to the ball carrier pretty fast.
  21. So your regretting hiring a head coach, with no previous experience who is still learning? I wish I was like all these doubters who could do the job and take us to a championship game year 1. With an inexperienced coach, you take strides, and most of Husker fans wouldn't understand that. Quite embarrassing too, having Husker fans on public blogs crying and demanding the firing of their head coach, let alone demanding that your starting QB should be benched. I don't regret it at all. Bo has the passion and the drive to do what is best for the program. Takes patience, and I don't think there is one coach who took their team to a National Title within their first 5 years, as their first HC'ing gig. If I am wrong, please let me know, but I have never heard, nor seen it.
