  1. Some kids are just football smart and get it right away and others just never do. They may be smart kids, but they can not pick up the Xs & Os In HS, they compete with a few good players and now in college, they are all good and several are great. As far as defense, we have not had a great safety since Brown. Like offense, you need great QB on defense. This means high football IQ. Bullocks, Bullocks, O'Hanlon, Asante, Gomes, Hagg? Gomes & Hagg were nickle backs and please O'Hanlon had the IQ with lack of ability and Asante had ability, but no IQ. Sorry, that I forgot the Bullocks. People do not realize how important of position this is. The problem lies in finding a good athlete who has the IQ to read the offense. O'Hanlon is easily the best safety of the Pelini era. I'd take him back any day Not! He was slow and could not tackle. He had the IQ but not enough athletic ability to be consistent.

  3. Comments like this drive me crazy. There are only 100+ or - 4 to 5 star kids every year. There are approx. 350 D1 BB teams and there are 12 or 15 teams that will take 50% of these kids because of BB tradition; now that leaves 25% for kids that stay close to home and the other 25% are available for approx. 100 teams. The key is to find the kids who fit your system and teach. Yes, it would be nice to get a 4 or 5 star player every other year. Its not like we have that kind of talent in Nebraska and when we do we need to get them to stay home and play.

  5. Sorry, He should not have dove. Just irritated by mental mistakes by a Sr.
  6. Sanguinetti should have dove for a ball in extra innings, wit 2 outs and man on first. Just not smart!
  7. 2 errors were on Kalkowski with runners on first. Tough plays when you are moving off the base and your pitcher is throwing fastballs. We went through 4 pitchers who could not throw strikes. Because if this Iowa sat on the fast ball. Very poor pitching effort!
  8. Husker get 13 hits, but lose 6-5. Other than Josh Roeder, the pitching was horrible. End of the Big 10 winning streak. I knew it would come, but not to lowly Iowa!
  9. Through 6, Husker are down 6 - 3. 5 pitchers - 5 BB, 3 HBP & 1 WP. We need pitchers!
  10. Wow! King can not get out of the 5th, he serves up 5 singles and is replaces by Bummer. At this rate we will go tough 7+ pitchers today! Huskers down 4 - 3.
  11. Hawkins faces 4 batters & gone - 1 BB & 1 HB, but Lubbach throws runner out trying to steal. Pitching still seams to be an issue.
  12. Hawkins comes in and throws 2 pitches, out of the inning! Tied 2 -2 after 3. Lets go Husker bats!
  13. Coaches are not messing around. Niederklien did not make it through 3.
  14. Niederklien is not sharp! Almost every batter goes to 2-2 or 3-2. Too many pitches and the batters can set on the fastball.
  15. It was a scrimmage. I missed the first half, but appeared that we were not going full speed. TV coverage may have had a lot to do with that.
  16. There is no way to judge the play of the spring game. Since it was televised on the Bten network, we were not going to show a lot. Anymore, the game is a big recruiting tool and great entertainment for the Husker fans & their families.
  17. He is a little light for 6'8". He would have to be very athletic for us to go after him for 1 year.
  18. He's a 2014 recruit He was 2013, but decided to go to prep school to get better and wait for a local offer. Thus was reclassed to 2014.
  19. Is he waiting for a local offer like Missouri, Kansas or Kansas St.? He could come here now and redshirt to develop.
  20. This is Iowa. I would think that it would not be hard to get up for these games.
