  1. There is a paywalled WashPost article, that I cannot read, but I heard it claimed another team paid a private investigator who somehow got into an assistant coaches laptop and got the evidence needed to start this investigation. I wish I could read the article. Anyway, that would mean some assistant knew and someone may have illegally hacked a computer to get it. Not to mention some other school that didn’t like getting beat hired a PI. Lol.
  2. I was just trying to be funny. She was liberal and often had political discussions in class to convey her opinions on various topics, especially trans rights. From what I understand, the kids didn't engage on the topics much. I would certainly recommend her as a teacher, though, despite our different political views. She got my kid more interested in reading, and he actually engaged in a class I figured he was going to blow off. Can't ask for more than that. This is true. Happened in our district. I don't think they are MGT type crackpots, but they don't know much about running a school district. This district is conservative but tends to flop back and forth between a conservative board and a liberal one. I am perplexed as to why the elections seem to be all or none, but happens. Outside donors throw lots of money at this little district election. It started when a conservative board was elected and adopted schoolof choice policies. They got sued. It was tied up in courts for 2 years and then lots of outside money started pouring in. This district sort of became a battleground.
  3. True. Seems like someone would know. Watching TV, youtube and game film was part of it though. If he paid people to go to games it was because he couldn't be there himself. I doubt he studying the rulebook. He didn't do a very good job in 2020. 2-4 record. I doubt it offered much advantage anyway since coaches change signs to try and avoid them being stolen...which is legal. they just need headsets and be done with it.
  4. SI write up on Stalion. Sounds like zealot. They have texts from him bragging to another teams locla zealot about stealing signs from videos. He has been around since 2017. Videos of him with Gattis, the new Maryland OC. I think it will boil down to whether he let coaches know how he learned the signals and they have since denied any knowledge of it. Then its lying to the NCAA. It seems like he was out to impress them so its possiblethey just thought he got it from game film. Also the definition of a 'scout', since he was not at the games himself and not on paid staff until May of 22, although that is splitting hairs. Even if the coaches did not know, I bet they hit Harbaugh with, 'lack of institutional control' or something like that. https://www.si.com/college/2023/10/25/michigan-connor-stalions-texts-stolen-signals?utm_source=reddit.com
  5. I don't think conservatives trust the education department and school boards anymore. 2020 ticked people off with too much remote learning, (which was a disaster) and exposed some parents (the ones who cared enough to pay attention) to the classroom. They didn't like what they heard and saw. I talk with my kids about what they are learning in school....especially classes like history and literature. So far, the only thing I found was a fourth grade teacher who taught fractions incorrectly. Her contract was not renewed. My sons Uber Woke Literature teacher turned out to be a GREAT teacher and her selection of material to read was fine, although I expected more of the classics. I still monitored the class, but was pleasantly surprised in the end.
  6. https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/october-harvard-caps--harris-poll-strong-majorities-of-americans-support-israel-against-hamas-and-us-policy-on-israel-301963636.html This a poll from Harvard no less. The article is saying support for Hamas is generational. Check out the 18 to 24 age group. 48% with Hamas. I heard brains are not fully developed until mid 20s. Maybe that's it. 84% of voters side more with Israel than with Hamas (ages 18-24: 52%; ages 65+: 95%). 88% of voters think Israel has the responsibility to protect its citizens by retaliating against Hamas (ages 18-24: 65%; ages 65+: 97%). 84% of voters believe Israel has the right to defend itself by launching air strikes in heavily populated Palestinian areas with warnings to those citizens (ages 18-24: 62%; ages 65+: 93%). 70% of voters think Israel should eliminate Hamas, not end its campaign against Hamas now (ages 18-24: 48%; ages 65+: 82%).
  7. Maybe, but a lot of people think there is some truth behind the jokes and any protests or comments that support Hamas or disparage Jews coming out of academia just reinforces that belief. There are big doners that have stopped donating to their almamaters, becuase of statements made. It probably won't hurt the school. The students will just call them Zionists and petition to rename whatever building they funded or tear down the plaques with their name on it. While that last statement was a joke, it would not surprise me if it happened.
  8. No idea. It must be the rich schools. We ran plays in from the sidelines. Everyone knew the audibles.
  9. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/38727764/what-college-football-coaches-saying-sign-stealing Some are appalled. some say it happens all the time. One admitted to getting video from fans. One said he gets everything he needs from tv, youtube, film sources.
  10. https://www.google.com/amp/s/247sports.com/college/nebraska/article/husker-head-coach-matt-rhule-on-sign-stealing-michigan-investigation--218745366/amp/ "There's nothing wrong with teams over there looking over, trying to steal our signs," the Husker head coach said. "There's nothing wrong with us trying to look at their signs. It's why you should have mics in the helmets, right? All these coaches that vote against it every year ..." "We could get rid of all the stupid signs on the sidelines ... (and) pictures of rock stars and all that stuff and we could just play football the way it was meant to be," Rhule said. "You go to a high school game, there's technology on the sideline. You go to an NFL game, there's technology on the sideline. You go to the college (game), there's nothing." "I would not carry that over to going and filming someone else's practices, or something like that. Or going to someone else's game. That's completely something different. I'm not saying that that happened," Rhule said. "But I think what's wrong partly in our society right now sometimes is ... sports need rules to keep competitive balance and when somebody does something against the rules we say, 'Well, should that really even be a rule?' And it is the rule. That's the rule, right?"
  11. I forgot the best line... "Because college life today is a day spa combined with North Korean re-education camp. It’s a daycare center with a meal plan, except the toddlers can fire the adults."
  12. So some employee did that on purpose. I think most people thought it was an accident.
  13. While we are on the topic... I guess Bill Maher has gone to the dark side...but funny none the less. "As an Ivy League graduate who knows the value of a liberal education, I have one piece of advice for the youth of America: Don’t go to college." "And if you absolutely have to go, don’t go to an elite college, because as recent events have shown, it just makes you stupid." Maher stated that the tragedy in Israel revealed "how higher education has become indoctrination into a stew of bad ideas, among them the simplistic notion that the world is a binary place where everyone is either an oppressor or oppressed, in the case of Israel, oppressors being babies and bubbes." "The same students who will tell you that words are violence and silence is violence, were very supportive when Hamas terrorists went on a rape and murder rampage worthy of the Vikings." "They knew where to point the finger, at the murdered, and then it was off to ethics class,"

    B1G Week 10

Lol. NU bowl eligibility on the line.
  15. Wow. maybe it should be required viewing for Hamas supporters. It’s crazy they have to do this for people to believe it. https://www.timesofisrael.com/idf-shows-foreign-press-raw-hamas-bodycam-videos-of-murder-torture-decapitation/

    B1G Week 8

MSU will get a new coach. Assuming that coach doesn't come from Dantonio's coaching tree the best thing to do is stop playing for 5 years and let all the players and coaches flush through the system. Harbaugh will be gone by then too. Then start over. Maybe that fixes it.
  17. This was weird... https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/college/michigan-state-university/2023/10/21/michigan-state-deeply-sorry-after-hitler-image-appears-on-video-boards-before-game/71277801007/
  18. MSU had their QB run to the sidelines for plays, tonight. It made Michigan's D look beatable.
  19. Very true. I do not mean to paint a broad brush. Does it help explain some of protests we have been seeing? I don’t know. My kid’s colleges had pro Israel demonstrations so maybe it goes both ways or down ideological lines. below is supposedly a facility member from UC Davis.
  20. Russell Rickford, an associate professor of history at Cornell, said he was "exhilarated" by the ambush killings at a pro-Palestinian rally. "It was exhilarating, it was energizing. If they [the Palestinians] weren't exhilarated by this challenge to the monopoly of violence, by the shifting of this balance of power, they would not be human. I was exhilarated," he told the crowd, who responded with cheers. Rickford apologized this week for his remarks, saying he made a "horrible choice of words." Choice of words? Our universities seem messed up to me. I wouldn't want Mr Rickford teaching my kids history.
  21. I thought this from MgoBlog was funny. Of course everyone suspects Ryan "Karen" Day as the culprit. The provenance of this and reporting on it is sketch. The first person to allude to this investigation was Ohio State insider Bill Greene of Buckeye Scoop, the site that was blackballed by OSU for paying a walk-on to give them access to internal Ohio State information. The message board rumors that started up a couple of days ago also came from OSU sources, which point's a big ol' finger at Ryan Day as the primary complainer. I do not believe the message board rumor that Ryan Day hired a private investigator to get at all this… but I kind of do. This is also extremely funny, especially because I've got the odd Buckeye fan in my twitter mentions making ominous references to how this all started in 2021. DO YOU REMEMBER THE 2021 GAME? Michigan passed four times in the second half. OSU couldn't move the ball because Aidan Hutchinson was beating the a$$ of whoever he lined up over. Signals intelligence did not matter. 2021 may have been the game least likely to be affected by playcalls in the history of the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry. Call whatever you want, Ryan. It doesn't matter because Aidan Hutchinson is going to be beating CJ Stroud to death with the dismembered arm of the left tackle.
