  1. Just to add to this....I think someone posted he was all about the money. Per Bacon, Harbaugh did not want to be the highest-paid coach in college football. His focus was more on money for his coaching staff in total. This is contradictory to what's been reported for weeks by multiple outlets, including the NFL Network. Earlier in December, reports surfaced that Harbaugh would be paid up to $8 million per season at Michigan. At the moment, Alabama coach Nick Saban is the country's highest-paid college football coach at $7.16 million per year, per USA Today's annual coaching database. Former Michigan coach Brady Hoke earned roughly $3.3 million per season during his four years at the school. If Harbaugh is paid $5 million per season, his salary would rank No. 6 nationally, slightly behind Texas' Charlie Strong, who makes just over $5 million per.
  2. Ross probably gave them the 50 million out of his billion dollar pockets. Or this.... According to a report in the Journal & Courier, the Big Ten projects that its revenues will continue to grow each year, and with a new television deal on the way, the conference expects 12 of its 14 schools to pull in approximately $44.5 million during the 2017-18 school year. That would be the first year of the new television deal. While the $44.5 million payoff is still four years away, don't worry, Big Ten schools won't go broke before then. The conference projects schools will pull in $27 million this year, $30.9 million in 2014-15, $34.1 million in 2015-16 and $35.5 million in 2016-17. and maybe this... RANK SCHOOL REVENUE EXPENSES 1 Texas $165,691,486 $146,807,585 2 Wisconsin $149,141,405 $146,659,187 3 Alabama $143,776,550 $116,607,913 4 Michigan $143,514,125 $131,018,311 5 Ohio State $139,639,307 $116,026,329
  3. hahahahaha you dont get it, do you? enlighten me Michigan has the money...They wouldn't offer if they didn't. They without a doubt hired "up". MU fans are excited and "can't wait" while NU fans are stuck in "wait and see..." Big difference about the excitement behind the hires. True, but I think Michigan is going to be paying for this hire for many years to come. I don't see Harbaugh staying in the college ranks for long. I'm not impressed with him as a coach either. If he leaves on his own, they will owe nothing, heck, they might even get paid handsomely from the buyout. Nebraska's coach may also potentially retire in 5 years, or he may coach for 15 more. Same with Harbaugh. At least Harbaugh roots at Michigan that will help to keep him there. Honest question, why are you not impressed? I can't really pinpoint why. But there's just something about him that makes me believe Michigan sold its soul to the devil if they do in fact hire him. Looking at his coaching record, he had two decent seasons at Stanford but his first two were losing seasons. At San Fran, he seems to have lost control of his teams with some reports saying he's not respected. Plus he comes across as a whiny ass bitch. Sounds like ESecPN is your source of info... 4. Thus is nothing like the Hoke hire nor Rich Rod. This is closer to Urban coming to OSU. Yeah, that's the hire I thought about. This is a homerun for Michigan. I wonder how it will impact their recruiting for this year's 2015 class. Not much time to work his recruiting magic for this year. Summary of how recruits have reacted thus far... http://mgoblog.com/content/monday-recruitin-readies-floodgates#more
  5. this is from the Detroit Free Press, not UofM. the sooner the freep goes under the better.
  6. Harbaugh! Its happening! Great for Michigan, great for the Big 10. The Big Ten needs NU, PSU and UofM back in the national spotlight. The Big 10 lost 2 of its best coordinators (Narduzzi (MSU) to Pitt, Herman (OSU) to Houston), and Wisconsin loses Anderson. Chryst is a decent hire that may turn out well for Wisconsin. I like the Riley as well. Hopefully we get more great hires as time goes on.

When you are 3-4, you gotta find other ways to have fun. http://michigan.247sports.com/Bolt/Video-Michigan-WR-Dennis-Norfleet-Shows-Off-Some-Dance-Moves-31995627
  8. The Big Ten needs its major teams to step up. Yes I am looking at you Nebraska, Michigan, PSU. NU has had a minimum of 4 losses per season for what, a decade now. That streak predates the Big Ten. Maybe the Big Ten is the conference where former great programs go out to pasture. We should pick up Texas next. They seem to be headed the same direction despite being in the hotbed of football talent. I will give PSU a bit of pass given their circumstances. Franklin did pretty well in the mighty SEC with 3* talent. I suspect PSU will be back soon. Is Michigan suffering from two bad coaching decisions? I don't know. They might end up with another coaching change in the near future. What is holding NU back? Don't know. NU didn't exactly come into the Big Ten and overwhelm everyone. Not even Iowa or Northwestern. Its been a bad year so far and now we will have to wait until the bowl season to try and salvage something.
  9. I guess its a good thing we added Rutgers and Maryland to improve our football. Along with MSU, they look like they will carry the Big Ten East. :-)
  10. Point taken on the divisions shifting a lot. I will miss playing Nebraska every year. I would like to play them every other year at least. I thought the 'parity based' scheduling I heard about would fix that, but I don't see it happening so far. I wonder if we will head toward playing a 10 game conference schedule. That would fix it too.
  11. I have read WVU message boards from time to time with regard to expansion and noticed they seem to be more active on the topic than most. So much so they get picked on for it by other message boards. I just assumed ND Joe noticed that as well.
  12. I think you are missing the idea of a pod system. The 'divisions' change every year with a rotation of the pods. The only constant is the 3 other teams in your pod. Pods would be based on rivalry and location. I will use UVA and MIssou as the 2 expansion candidates just for giggles. Pod1 - NU, Wiscy, MInn, Iowa Pod2 - MIssou, NW, Illini, Purdue Pod3- Mich, Mich St. OSU, Ind. Pod4- PSU, Mary, Rut, UVA Two year Big Red schedule as an example Year 1 - Wiscy, Iowa, Minn, Missou, Illini, NW Purdue, Mich, Mich St. Year 2- Wiscy, Iowa, Minn, Ind, OSU, PSU, Mary, UVA, Rut Would this be better than the schedules you are seeing now? Lets throw OU in instead of Missou and keep them with NU in a Pod.....which would happen. Then it gets even better for NU. Oh, and I agree with ND Joe. The OU rumors are probably from those expansion obsessed WVU folk.
  13. At this point the Big Ten needs to go to 16 teams so we can get the 4 team pod schedule and play every team every two years with 9 conference games. 14 just doesn't work. I would not mind UVA, but with the GORs in place I would think ND and Missou are more likely. :-)
  14. At my first job, I had to move from one cubicle to another right behind me. 10 feet. I started to move my books over by myself when someone stopped me and warned me not to do it or I would get written up. So I packed the few things I had in a box and waited a day or so for a union guy to come, pick up my box and drop it off on the desk right behind him. That pretty solidified my opinion of unions.
  15. Most likely. He got significant playing time last year when Gardner was hurt. Not really. Gardner was hurt in the final game against OSU, but he finished the game. Morris only played in the bowl game. From what I saw its a long way to go on both sides of the ball. Could be Hoke's last year. But I have heard rumor of John (not Jim) Harbaugh being interested. That might be nice. Oh and I will miss playing Nebraska every year. Why would he leave an NFL team that he's won a Super Bowl with? Not to mention he's one of the highest paid coaches in the NFL, to go to a Michigan team that has been mediocre for quite sometime besides 2011? He has ties to Ann Arbor like his brother. No idea if the rumor is even true, just thought it was funny.

  17. Who gives a crap about next year? I want this year. Exactly. What's wrong with making the tournament this year and next year? Full disclosure. I am a Michigan fan that has been visiting this site for awhile. I have gotten to know some Nebraska fans since you guys joined the Big Ten and have grown to like Nebraska too. Along with PSU. Not sure if they will be in a play-in game, a safe 11, 12 seed or go to the NIT at this point. I was just thinking that the NIT would be a huge benefit for the team IF they don't make the NCAA. If they do, have fun with it. I'll be rooting for you. I will be rooting for all Big Ten teams actually, even Ohio.
  18. While it would be fun for Nebraska to make the NCAA, it might benefit them more to be a top seed in the NIT. They get home games until the semis in madison square garden and more experience for a young team that returns all but one senior.
  19. Beilein is a classy guy. He knows what a job Miles did.
  20. It gets you to 20 wins... and that is big. No, it would give 19. We will only be playing a 12 seed if we lose today. No.. i meant like, gets you closer to 20 wins... bad wording. Doesnt matter now.. We will get 20 now & maybe a Big Ten trophy to match the Lady Huskers! Not so fast on the 20...they get a bye first round. Will play OSU I think...assuming they win.
  21. Just beat a #2 NCAA seed....that probably gets them in. Maybe even a bye. Congrates.
  22. Big win at Indiana. Computers won't care, but its always 5 on 6 at their place.
  23. Agreed. For some reason...good out of conference performance I guess...the Illini are not considered a bad loss. Still not over, but @ Indy and Wiscy at home seems tough.
  24. NU is on the bubble. RPI 45 and rising. Split IU/Wiscy, Beat the Illini and NW plus one B1G tourney win and your in.
