  1. What I don't understand is how you can't see it happening. After cursing at the fans, telling someone in confidence that he was going to leave, and how us fans can kiss his *** out the door, and numerous people that are "insiders", whom have very strong connections, claim that this is fact. Don't be naive. I understand that you are one of those people that if you can't see it, it must not exist, but just trust me, this is very true. Agree to disagree if you'd like, but I will believe what I know. Tennessee, Miami, and Arkansas. Tennessee was a rumor started by our very own EZ-E and spread like wild fire. Miami was after Perlman reprimanded him for the Texas A&M game and he was mad about that. I don't know about Arkansas. These feelers largely go on behind the scenes anyway with coaches agents and search/consulting firms.
  2. Many of the expectations listed in posts here sound great, but they are not measurable.
  3. You gotta quit shooting down the ideas of a coaching change and open your mind up a little bit. We're gettin quite sick of your sh#t already. There's nothing wrong with entertaining the idea of it. Doesnt necessarily mean it's gonna happen. Anything can happen with 5 games left. I know. I had your mindset not long ago, but I ask, how can you not the see the problems. Please man, take your blinders of and quit taking shots at those willing to entertain ideas of change. I'm just presenting the other side of the coin. I fully understand there are issues. We've changed coaches three times since 1997 and still had issues. If I've taken shots at anyone, I apologize.....that's not my intent.
  4. Fortunately those in authority don't make knee jerk decisions. If Pelini goes, my expectation of the next coach would be no more than 2 losses starting their first season. No excuses. That way instead of a 6 year coaching carousel, we can hire a new coach every 2 seasons. Use a temp agency perhaps?
  5. Richt's best season as a coach was in 2002. He has 4 or more losses 3 of the last 4 seasons, and has 3 losses currently this season. He also has a losing record in 2010.
  6. Please explain what you saw yesterday (or any time this season) that would bolster this statement. Not everything automatically improves with time. There usually has to be some mechanism in place to ensure improvement. What would you say that is? You're right......Randy Gregory has not been any improvement over what we had at that DE spot.
  7. ESPN's job is to get ratings and advertising revenue. I'm not concerned about their coaching decision banter. Although maybe we could list our top 10 candidates and do an episode of Survivor-Lincoln to decide who our next 6 year coach will be.
  8. Seriously? The facts so far say otherwise, because we've played in 3 conference championships and have not won less than 9 games.
  9. The issues are different than last year. Last year we had experience, back seriously lacked the athleticism needed at LB. Pelini had to change the way he recruited based on the B10 vs B12. Pelini also did not recruit well a few years ago. That seems to have changed. I think there are great things to come from our young guys, but they will have growing pains as freshmen.
  10. We already did this until we fired the legacy coach in 2003. And with the NFL references, it's too early to claim either Kansas City or Denver as head coaching hiring successes if championships are the discussion. On the other side of the coin in the NFL you have the Pittsburgh Steelers. Started off 0-4, but didn't make off the cuff coaching changes. Their consistency in coaches is one of the reasons they have more Lombardi's than any other team. Nebraska has seen what changing coaches every 6 years will do........we've also see what keeping one around for 25 years can do.
  11. I'm a Pelini backer, but your post is way too simplistic. I don't want change because Pelini is performing in the W/L column and is doing the things personnel wise to take us to the next level. There are some posts about us being a laughing stock in the national media because of the blowouts on the scoreboard. We were a laughing stock ten years ago because of the coaching change with where our program was. Those with decision making ability are well aware of that. So what is he doing to take us to the next level and when is that going to start? He sat VV today in favor of TR. He also play a QB with broken toes when two healthy backups were available. Curry started instead of Valentine today. I completely agree about the quarterback position. My point is Pelini is recruiting kids with better physical abilities for their positions.
  12. You need to add one more "lose" in your post to get to 4.
  13. Pelini being a hot head is simply ESPN trying to get you to stay on their channel. Pelini's passion was one of the key reasons he was hired and he has matured well in that area. Perhaps we haven't shed the laughing stock label but if it started with the coaching changes from ten years ago it's not on Pelini.
  14. What personnel changes is he making to take the program to the "next level"? What makes you think the program's trend line over the last 3 years isn't flat or a little down? It is flat or down. In another thread there was a lengthy discussion about this. Conference change played a part in how we had to change recruiting. Our DL is not longer as undersized as it was. We have speed at LB now. But in both instances, and others, the talent needs time to both mature and gel.

So what is he doing to take us to the next level and when is that going to start? I'm not sure if that's a rhetorical question, but two of them start on the defensive line now. We have seen improvement, but there will be inconsistency due to youth. Because of injuries and redshirt decisions, we had a very undersized DL last season......which was a contributing factor to the blowout losses. We needed to get more athletic at defensive end. We have done so. I also think having more consistency at quarterback vs high risk/high reward is going to be beneficial next season.
  16. The timeline for Pelini keeps changing. This year, 2013, has been the one circled as The Year since the schedule was announced. Soft crossover games, and only 2 road trips that moved the needle at all, Mich and PSU, and one being crippled by sanctions. Fourth year starter at QB, deepest receiving corps ever at the school. No, no more time. This is not like 1979. This is not a coach who cant get past one nemesis who just happened to be a football superpower. Its continual embarrassments on national TV. Losing to Minnesota, and getting pushed around the the process. This is about a team using a plan devised from one of the worst failures in program history, and the 'defensive guru' not having an answer to the question. A question that you would think he wouldnt be able to stop thinking about. This is about having at least one game a year where the team looks completely unprepared and unfocused. This is about a coach who looks lost and confused during postgames, one who has no answers. One who needs to be shown the door. I don't think TO was ever ranked outside the top 20 at the end of the year, and he made the top 10 a couple of times. Osborne took over a team that had won back to back national championships.

  18. I would agree. I also like the young talent on the defensive line. I think it will be a special unit as they mature and gain experience together.
  19. We've been doing that every 6 years since Osborne's retirement. How's that working for us? Don't even get your question. So are you suggesting that we stick with a coach that is not elevating the program just because past coaching hires have failed? How has Pelini not elevated the program? Do you need to revisit Callahan's record and missed bowls? Yes, he's elevated the program if you're using Callahan as the benchmark, but I'm seeing a team that's been a complete embarrassment nationally. Where are we going? Are you happy with the direction of the program? I'm not, I think changes need to be made. Actually I do like what I see from a helicopter view. Pelini has learned quickly from personnel mistakes he made in the recent years. Our defensive line, while young, is going to be exciting to watch develop. LBs have been an Achilles heel, and I think once the maturation catches up with their athleticism, we could be in good shape there too. On offense, we've been led the past few seasons by a high risk/high reward quarterback with no proven depth there. Hopefully that's changing. I don't think musical head coaches is the answer. Hey Bo, if you would quit wasting your time on this board and watch the tape of the CCG game last year your team might improve. I doubt Pelini is concerned that you are leading the search committee for his replacement.
  20. I agree with what I think is Accountability's point.......Armstrong and/or Kellogg are keeping the chains moving. That's not happening as we need it with Martinez in there. Why is that? I don't really know. I know when we've needed to put some points on the board, it hasn't happened with a Martinez led offense. The evidence here is the time of possession, 35:37 in favor of MN. This is exhibit 1 of why I am an Armstrong fan. He can lead us on sustained drives that chew clock, get us points, and keep our defense off the field. From the time we line up to the time we get into the red zone or goal line there is a confidence that is palpable exuding from TA onto the rest of the offense. It even appeared to be giving the defense more swagger. When I check the box score to decide whether to watch the NW game (before you roast me I'll be out of town all the entire following week), it will be real interesting to see who trots out there next week to lead the team. Illinois won the time of possession. And Oregon is 105th in the country in time of possession. Yet their defense manages to stop teams from time to time. Our defense absolutely needs to get more stops.....get off the field on 3rd downs. Our offense seems to have little problem in getting off the field on 3rd down.

How do you not get sick of seeing the same thing over and over and over again? I haven't forgot the Callahan years. They were not that long ago. And despite what I read on this board sometimes, Husker football didn't begin in 1994. I'm now convinced that TheSker is Bo Pelini. Nothing personal coach, but I think its time for a change. Nothing personal taken. I'm convinced you get my point.
  22. Philosophical statements can be used according to agenda. For instance, those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. We know what happened when we kept a coach around for 25 years......and we know what has happened when we changed coaches every 6 years. Just how long would you like to keep him around without winning anything, and repeatedly being humiliated on national TV? I guess the same amount of time it's exaggerated how we haven't won anything. Osborne went a few years himself with no conference championships, and later had a 7 year bowl losing streak. Bo is not Osborne. Get over it I'll take that to mean Pelini might be winning a little bit.
