  1. +1 Me too... Don't compare Pelini to Osborne. Just don't, please. I don't even have to present an argument on that. I compared Osborne to no one. I simply referred to Osborne's legacy and his 25 year stint as head coach. If I correlated Pelini to anyone in my post it was to Callahan for the blowout losses. I'm not interested in an argument. That is all we have at this point is a legacy. We have to stop living in the past. But yeah, I guess you can compare Pelini to Callahan for the blowout losses. The blowout losses are the furthest thing from my mind at the moment. New head coach #4 since TO might have one or two himself.

  3. I know this is the thread about some recording, and honestly at the moment I don't even care about the recording. I care about the short sightedness. If Pelini goes, we've basically gone through a coach every 6 years since TO's retirement. TO's legacy is because of his last 5 seasons and deservedly so......but the 20 before that had their share of ups and downs. I understand the thing about blowout losses. Callahan had them and Pelini has had them. But we're not going to build a program with a coaching carousel. When it comes to Nebraska football, I'm a nobody......I'm not a big donor and I have no weight to throw around. I know a little bit about football and quite a bit about the Huskers dating back to the 1970's. I'm just a poster on some internet message board. But I don't want a coaching change.
  4. Well, if Pelini goes I guess we'll get to see how coach #4 since TO can do, huh?
  5. We may find out if replacing the head coach every 6 seasons is the key to success.......possibly coach #4 since TO.
  6. There is not currently an opening for a head football coach at the University of Nebraska, yet. Fixed it for ya The word currently took care of that in my original post......but I'm confident Pelini will be around. We'll see. I'm not interested in a 5 year cycle of replacing coaches.
  7. I'll give you that, no question. I think if something leads to Pelini's ultimate dismissal at Nebraska it will be the inability to bring in the talent needed.
  8. Are you listening Shawn Eickhorst? Are you listening Shawn Eickhorst? Exactly.......jumping on the OP for comparing Calley to Bo is stupid.....that is not the point at all. THE POINT is Toms reason for the change.........and the reason that Tom stated in that quote is happening right at this moment and there is no argument that can dispute that......again IT NOT ABOUT THE NAMES OF THE COACHES INVOLVED........it's about this SITUATIONS involved. And if anyone can read that quote (despite the coaches name involved then this quote was taken) and not think TO could be talking about Bo......you are kidding yourselves........we are in the same exact place I have shoes on right now, so I can't use my toes to count.....but I'm not sure I need them to count the number of games Pelini has lost by a significant margin.......but "fairly large" and "significant margin" can be adjusted to spin however needed......so please proceed.
  9. There is not currently an opening for a head football coach at the University of Nebraska.
  10. A few "exaggerations" here of what's happened. The blowouts are not an annual thing......they are some games from the past two seasons. Year 6 might be a bigger deal if even one of those years was a losing season....along the lines of Callahan.....but not a single one has been. YEAR 6!!! at least 9 wins per. Of course we want to take it to the next level in the next decade, but Pelini has only been here a full half decade. Notre Dame had a national title appearance......and got BLOWN OUT on national tv. Michigan is just happy that Akron doesn't rhyme with Appalachian State this week.
  11. My god. my god. So simple. Yet so accurate. Until yesterday I never in a million years wouldve thought the final sentence in the quoted comment. But I do now. And it's just really scaring the sh#t out of me, because in everything else, Bo really is perfect for Nebraska. These times really are testing us as a fanbase and our perspective. But regardless, the head football coaches job is to win football games. I just dont know where I stand anymore in the hate-Bo/love-Bo saga anymore. We've asked this at one time or another with each coach, including TO.
  12. Regarding defensive meltdowns, if by a "few" years, you mean the past two seasons, then ok. I do not think we made the same mistakes when we had a defense loaded with talent. I recognize the lack of talent is on Pelini. As far as the offensive problems, I agree dropped passes are not an issue......the rest of what you wrote, I do not agree with. I think they are issues.
  13. Is changing coaches every 5 years the way to do this?
  14. That's what I was thinking. I just don't understand why Bo doesn't sub kids in when the vets aren't on their game. It would be really good for the young players to be put in to a high pressured situation just to see how they would react. Ok, so they blow it and the other team scores, but at least they would get some experience and wouldn't be doing any worse than the players that were out there in the first place. I think some changes need to be made too but I think that firing Bo would be just stupid. Been there-done that and is simply doesn't work. well, what if Bo sh#ts the bed again next season?....when do you pull the plug? We're just getting started on this season
  15. True. Thus the need for Huskerboard.
  16. That comment alone should have gotten him fired. I don't think a coaching staff should become Celebrity Apprentice......I do have a gut feeling (indigestion perhaps) based on Pelini's slight comment about our offense not performing well in any of the three games this season that some attention will be given to our offensive issues.
  17. I think Pelini knows the issues. He mentioned his three game disappointment in the offense in his post game presser. The way to fix them is going to be through experience of our youth, continued personnel decisions at each position and strong recruiting. Being disappointed isn't the same as knowing what the problems are and how to fix them. And we have an offense loaded with veterans and experience. So I don't see youth or inexperience as issues with the offense. The problem on offense is we are not good enough at positions other than WR and RB. Our offensive coordinator has also said after two of our three games this season he has made mistakes. I don't think anyone....include Pelini....disagrees with that. On offense, youth and inexperience are probably most glaring at the quarterback position, but I'd be surprised if we don't stick with Martinez. I've been critical of Martinez' turnovers and I'm now critical of his leadership. I'll take talent over veterans and experience. We have to continue recruiting better for the OL.
  18. Do you think this is something he is counting on? For the record, I don't.
  19. Then perhaps you are not in that category? Not quite. A new defensive scheme by a new coordinator would help Bo a great deal. That's certainly a popular opinion. I don't share it, but that's my perhaps unpopular opinion. I like Jay Foreman's comment about our defense. I think our defense has progressed ok this first three games. Hopefully more player personnel decisions will be made.....but my bigger concern right now is for our offense to get the football past midfield.
  20. Then perhaps you are not in that category?
  21. Pelini's success forward will be directly relational to the on field talent he and his staff are able to bring in. That may be one of the bigger lessons he has learned the past two seasons and is the reason for the emphasis on recruiting.
  22. TO's tenure shows at least some food for thought about not replacing a head coach every 5 years.
