  1. The scary thing is regimes like that will "remove" anyone who shows any kind of dissent. Leaving only the least moral to assume leadership positions and further drive loyalty and "end" dissent. This is how Hitler became so protected, how Putin has retained power, and how Trump ended up with only yes men in his cabinet.
  2. I'll admit, I was fortunate enough to be in the generation that came just after duck and cover drills were eliminated, and before active shooter drills became necessary. All we had to worry about were fires and tornados. - Good times.
  3. It is absolutely hilarious when people bring up the withdrawal from Afghanistan and the equipment left behind, but conveniently forget how bad the withdrawal from Syria was. What's more- the equipment, resources, and intel in Syria was captured directly by the Russians. - It's almost like people bringing up Afghanistan get their information from a single source that minimizes or ignores Trumpuitn's failings while harping on any miscalculation no matter how trivial of Biden's/ the democrats to no end. Whether that news source is Fox News or the Kremlin, the results seem to be the same. And BTW. here is an article specifically about weapons and equipment left behind in Syria. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-mideast-crisis-syria-russia-exhibitio/russias-military-shows-off-hardware-seized-in-syria-idUSKCN1QG2EP https://www.militarytimes.com/news/2019/10/16/what-it-means-for-us-bases-in-syria-to-be-occupied-by-syrian-and-russian-forces/ As the U.S. abandons camps across Syria, it appears U.S. troops are removing sensitive equipment, but leaving fortifications that could present a later challenge for fighters in the region. “I see a big problem with it. And it shows just how unplanned and half-assed this “withdrawal” is,” said Marine veteran Anderson Bryant, who fought with the SDF as it liberated Manbij from ISIS fighters in 2016. Regardless of what you call it, the withdrawal makes for bad optics, Bryant said. “Though ISIS doesn’t have the infrastructure to take and hold territory or bases anymore, just leaving equipment to be taken after a retreat looks bad for sure," he said.
  4. Oh, I went there. And I went here too. Why, cuz its the truth. If you can't see that now, you should ask the mods to check your IP address. The team TFG was playing for did win and it was easy. Putin knew he was going to start a war. He needed to reinforce and insulate his economy in order to survive sanctions. China and Russia are clearly in cahoots on this. China decided it wants to economically support Russia. But how? Purchase Russian grain. Even better doing so hurts the US. But just switching would be strange and raise significant concerns. So TFG's handlers get him to knowing or unknowing go along with this ploy by starting a trade war with China. Giving them the perfect cover to use their economic power to support Russia over the US.
  5. Wasn't meant to be snarky. Had to take a call halfway through typing. Submitted the reply, prematurely. Thanks for recognizing your mistake. I'll own up to mine.
  6. Also In: Mexico will not apply economic sanctions to Russia. A quick google search shows that Putin et al. have been cozying up to the new Mexican president for some time, engaged in the same election meddling tactics there, and have hosted the Mexican President in Russia (no one is the same after going to Russia- ask Lindsay Graham.) https://mexicobusiness.news/policyandeconomy/news/how-russia-mexico-relationship-breaking-new-ground https://lacrus.org/2021/04/29/russia-and-mexico-a-new-round-of-interaction/?lang=en During the Cold War Russia's spies were based in Mexico City. Perhaps they are reformenting that relationship against the US. At this point I'm willing to include alienating the US relationship with Mexico as another deliverable Trump was to provide Putin so that Russia could cozy up to our Southern neighbors.
  7. What I've read is that the planes are still for Ukraine, but that NATO pilots will not fly them into Ukraine and the NATO countries will not allow them to be based in their countries. They want plausible deniability. They gave Ukraine the planes but cannot control how they are used.
  8. Could you imagine the confusion on their faces??? "Protect American F* Yeah!," "Trump Says Puitn is Our Friend and Let Him Do His Thing." I see all Trumpatriots eventually assuming this position as their brains fail to compute their conflicting loyalties.
  9. This also begs the question- was he even asked??? All guard troops are coming from geographically close states and sounds like it was put out vaguely nationwide to all state guards, not Florida. I don't hear Ricketts going- "yeah, we weren't needed or directly asked anyway, but dang it I refuse to send troops to help Biden." Again, a grandstanding moron, trying to score political points, making something out of absolutely nothing. ---Grrr.. Right wing outrage machine go!
  10. Good god, I hope the war in Ukraine will help people put idiots and their retoric like this behind them. What absolute nonsense. https://www.wesh.com/article/desantis-florida-national-guard-bidens-state-of-the-union/39277052 Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has rejected a request from President Joe Biden to send Florida National Guard members to the District of Columbia for the president’s State of the Union address. DeSantis posted on Twitter: "Last week, the Biden Administration requested the assistance of State National Guards to deploy to Washington D.C. I have rejected this request — there will be no @FLGuard sent to D.C. for Biden’s State of the Union." Advertisement The reason for this rejection was not immediately clear, but Florida's governor is not a fan of the Biden administration. During his Conservative Political Action Conference address last week, the governor said President Joe Biden hates him and the state of Florida because they "stand up to him." DeSantis said the media puts out "a blizzard of lies" meant to relieve the blame on Biden, which he referred to as "the Brandon Administration." As the governor was speaking, President Joe Biden was addressing the nation following Russia's attacks on Ukraine. DeSantis made no mention of Russia or Ukraine. Finally, he called for the audience to "put on the full armor of God," in preparation for the fight against Biden and the liberal agenda. "You'll be met with flaming arrows, but the shield of faith will stop them, you will emerge victorious," he said.
  11. Apparently, like the Jan. 6th attackers, you only back the blue when it suits you. D.C. AND CAPITOL POLICE MADE THE REQUEST While DeSantis framed the request as coming from the Biden administration, it actually originated with the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department and U.S. Capitol Police, the two law enforcement agencies that responded to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot last year and bore the brunt of the physical injuries. The two agencies asked Biden’s administration to approve Guard support ahead of the speech. The failure to mobilize the Guard ahead of the Electoral College count and President Donald Trump’s resistance to sending it after the riot began were closely scrutinized as lawmakers probed security failures in the wake of the attack last year. Defense Secretary LLoyd Austin approved a request from the two agencies last week to deploy 700 members of the National Guard ahead of Biden’s address and a trucker convoy that was inspired by the anti-vaccine protest that occupied Canada’s capital city of Ottawa last month. The mission is approved through March 7, under Austin’s order. In addition to 400 members of the D.C. National Guard deployed under the order, there will be 300 that come from New Jersey, Vermont and West Virginia. There won’t be any Floridians, but their absence won’t affect the number of guardsmen deployed. Read more at: https://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/article258918043.html#storylink=cpy
  12. 1. Is systems and processes that are in place in a department of the government that have clear guidelines in place that decide if FEMA money is warranted. And does not directly involve Biden. 2. The other is a petty grandstanding moron trying to position himself for a higher national office by attempting to score point against the sitting President by denying a request that is generally a mere formality and has rarely, if ever, been done in the past. You are right- big difference.
  13. Why haven't his advertisers pulled funding yet?
  14. Heard there was a run on cash at ATMs and banks and that they were running out. Thats pretty darn fast.
  15. If these numbers are accurate, the only strategy that would even make sense is that Putin is intentionally sacrificing soldiers, thinking their deaths will solidify support for the war in Russia. That is the only way any of this makes sense. Of course the flip side is that he greatly overestimated Russia's capabilities, and greatly underestimated Ukraine's.
  16. For those you "left the Republican party," do you still vote Republican? Do you participate in any primaries? One issue we have here in America is the whole system is built for two party rule. So the extremes of both sides hold too much sway as far as who makes it through the primary and into the general election. In Nebraska, you almost have to be registered R to have any impact on statewide politics.
  17. Also gives the Ukrainians a chance to restock their supply of Russian military equipment.
  18. Be nice man, some of these guys may have just now realized Trump was playing them and the country all along. That he was in bed with Russia, that the Steele Dossier was probably right, and he probably was in bed with China too. They need time to process that their whole worldview for the last 8 years was a lie.
  19. Outlook. Most of the Fox personalities you listed are no longer there.
  20. He can't say that he'd have our troops waving USSR flags outloud.
  21. No his solution is to join Putin. Btw didn't he have the nuclear football out at Mara Lago when Xi from China was there?
  22. We can argue whether Trump was in on the plan or was merely a useful idiot, but I'm convinced now, that this is what that was all about.
