  1. This is exactly correct. Yes, I wouldn't worry about Pelini's financial situation. He's made millions from NU for many years, and as has been pointed out, he will likely find a DC position in the NFL somewhere.
  2. Thanks you SE for having the guts to do what is right for this program. Pelini stopped the bleeding, but then reached his plateau, and it's time to give someone else a try.
  3. LOL...Spoken like a true Nebraska fan. Are you planning to now support Pelini's new team should he find a new job?
  4. If you watched that game, TCU got screwed at the end with 3 pass interference calls that went in Baylors favor. I didn't care who won the game but remember saying to myself that TCU got a raw deal...and they still only lost by 3 at Baylor. TCU is the better team overall.
  5. So we've already seen Miss St, UCLA, and Georgia lose this week. OSU is without their QB, and Baylor's QB left the game with an injury. If Alabama ends up losing to Auburn (they are down by 12 in the 3rd quarter), that would mean no SEC team remains with only one loss. That leads to two questions. 1. Does a 2-loss SEC team still beat four power 5 teams with one loss or less? 2. Assuming Alabama loses, who do you see as the top 4 teams heading into conference titles next week. Here are my four: #1-Oregon #2-FSU #3-TCU #4-OSU The next four: #5-Baylor #6-Alabama #7-Michigan State #8-Mississippi St Given the SEC went 0-4 today vs the ACC, there is actual gameday evidence that they should not be given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to a 2-loss SEC team trumping teams from other conferences.
  6. When you stop hearing complaints after persistent mediocre seasons, that's when you know you've lost the fans. Most on here (including me) upset with Bo feel that way because we do care about the team and the program, and we honestly don't believe he is the guy to make this program better. Having him remain as the coach removes any hope for improvement, so the only hope at this point is a new coach and a new direction, and I am willing to take the risk that the next coach has more than 4 losses his first few seasons for the reward that he can come in and help NU win a conference title again.
  7. I think most are in agreement that things haven't went as well as we would like the last several years. But to sit there and say stuff like this drives me crazy. Best fans in college football huh. I guess that's only the case when we are winning. With an attitude like this why don't you just hop over to Alabama or Oregon for now then you can switch when they start to struggle, or better yet go cheer for K-state cause this is what their fan base consist of. I grew up in Lincoln. I graduated from UNL. You don't get to lecture me on squat. I'll be a Husker fan long after this clown show and people like you are gone. I'm sorry you find statements of fact so offensive. I hope you didn't attend a university where your limited perspectives were challenged. My intention isn't to lecture you at all. I didn't attend UNL but Ive been a fan my whole life because my father grew up in Nebraska. My point is too many fans say "oh geez we lost a game we can't win the national championship better luck next year". Or " We've lost two conference games the season is over I don't care what happens from here on out". I look forward to every single game and to the fan that only cares when we win them all I say see ya in August when we have a perfect record cause we don't need ya. I haven't seen too many fans give up after a single loss. There was still plenty of optimism following the loss to MSU, despite the fact NU was blown out in the first three quarters. It was when Wisconsin completely blew the doors off the Huskers again, where the players and coaches looked completely lost, that many people fell off the Pelini bandwagon. After that game, Minnesota wasn't a surprise, but further evidence this program is no where close to competing for any sort of championship or even a top-25 ranking. The Iowa game was barely watchable. While I feel for the players and am glad they got the win, the players above all else deserve better coaching- more than the fans do. There are a few "fans" who have been against Pelini for years, and vocally express that sentiment regularly. I am not one of those. I thought Pelini did enough last year to warrant replacement, but when he was retained we started this year with a clean slate. Now, I've seen enough (again). I see that even under the best of circumstances (easy schedule, good players, stable coaches) we're just not very well coached under Pelini. Eichorst may choose to retain Pelini again, and I'll still follow the Huskers if he does, and we'll start 2015 with a clean slate again. But expect me to voice my opinion next year when we're again likely sitting at 8-4 or 9-3 watching another CCG play-in game between two programs with less resources, less support, less history but better coaching than Nebraska. I'll even watch the bowl game this year. Hell, I took off from work to watch the Iowa game. But I don't expect us to land in a "better" bowl game after several years of divided fans, mediocre finishes to the seasons and dwindling fan support at the bowls. Well said. I was willing to give Bo another chance at the start of this year, especially considering he appear to be changing his approach and attitudes during the offseason. However, as the season unfolded, it confirmed that Bo simply doesn't have what it takes to take Nebraska back to an elite level. If there was hope that things would improve, I think you would still see many fans passionate about this program, but with Pelini as coach, there really is no hope. We know what we are going to get each and every year, and for many of us, that is not enough.
  8. Most football programs have ups and downs, and if a coach can lead a team to a really good year (meaning winning the conference title and competing in a top bowl game), I would say most fans are more forgiving if the next year sees only 8 or 9 wins. I would be more than willing to give Bo a vote of confidence had he won a conference title or two, but he's plateaued, and shows no signs of correcting those things that are preventing his teams of winning a conference title.
  9. Yes, but only if it means Bo and his band of ass-hat cronies get the gallows. With Nebraska having another cupcake schedule next year, it's hard to imagine only winning 6 games, but I guess anything is possible. Until the Big Ten gets more depth, and NU schedules a couple stronger games in the nonconference (like in 2016 when they play Oregon), its not that difficult to get to 6 wins. I will be satisfied when we have a coach that can win a conference championship. We've given Bo 7 tries at it, and it just isn't working out.
  10. I think there would be a lot of qualified coaches salivating at the opportunity to coach a team with such good history and facilities that is part of a weak division in a weak conference. And I think these same coaches get the fact that Nebraska fans are simply wanting a coach that can get the team back to winning conference titles, and not settling on 9 meaningless wins against unranked teams.
  11. I'm right there with you. The 2012 CCG loss (which I was there for in person) showed me that Pelini will never win the big games. I guess the Bo defenders on here are happy with mediocrity and don't want to see this program return to an elite status.
  12. This comment is typical of anyone affiliated with a Pelini-coached team. He has his staff and team thinking that 9 wins against non-ranked teams is a great achievement. I guess Cotton is just excited about playing in the Holiday Bowl or Foster Farms bowl.
  13. Empty seats will do it.And there will be large swatches of them if he's still coach by Monday Then we can blame all the whiners that they ruined the sell out streak. Or you could blame the actual, real life problem. Agree 100%. The only way fans can voice their displeasure for a program stalled in mediocrity is with their wallets and presence at games. Who gives a crap about the sellout streak if the output on the team is consistently sloppy and unable to perform well against top teams.
  14. So you freely admit you aren't going to cover the hottest topic in Nebraska right now? And then you use a tired ass message board argument--THAT IS FLIMSY AND RIDICULOUS ON MESSAGE BOARDS as your nut paragraph in why Bo should stay? Good freaking God Sipple. We both know you should have been fired for a pretty embarrassing incident in 2001, but this is just flat sh#t writing. That's suck-up Sipple for you. He is slimier than Slick Willy. It's comical that, last week he started showing signs of using rational analysis and suggesting that Bo should go. But after today, he's made the assumption that Bo will be retained, and in order to try to stay on his good side so he will keep access to Bo, he comes out with this garbage piece. The fact that he is not willing to hold Bo accountable for not beating top-25 teams says a lot about how Sipple's accepted mediocrity with NU football.
  15. Yeah, let's not forget this same Iowa put up a good effort against Iowa State in a losing battle for the Hawkeyes. You mean the Iowa that stopped Melvin Gordon in brick-wall fashion? The Iowa that finishes tackles with 320 pounds of Carl Davis riding your ribs? I'll take this one to the bank. Yeah, Gordon only gained half the number of yards against Iowa (200) than he did against us. They really stopped him well.
  16. The same people that complain about Bo would have been screaming for Osborne's head in the 80s and early 90s. Do we need some changes? Sure. Let's get a new OC (one willing to bench TA). But we don't need a new HC. There is no comparison between Bo's results and TO's results. TO routinely finished in the top 10, and finished out of the top 20 either once or never. TO also routinely beat top 20 teams, and faced top 5 teams every season. Bo has a losing record against top 20 teams. Exactly. These Bo-lievers seem to think that TO didn't finish first or win any conference titles in his first 7 years...simply not true. They are trying to re-write the history books.
  17. We've always had the talent to win the Big Ten. We beat Northwestern handily who also beat the same Wisconsin team that killed us. Our issue has always been coaching and mental toughness in meaningful games, and that isn't going to change if we retain the same head coach.
  18. The same people that complain about Bo would have been screaming for Osborne's head in the 80s and early 90s. Do we need some changes? Sure. Let's get a new OC (one willing to bench TA). But we don't need a new HC. Osborne won championships in his first 7 years as well as in the 80s and 90s.
  19. Idiocy is thinking that things can change under the same regime. No coordinators are going to come work for a coach on the hot seat. So a house cleaning leaving Bo in charge is idiocy. A house cleaning is in order or else we will become the Purdue of the west. Agree 100% with this
  20. I think we learned that Nebraska is still good at beating teams ranked below #30, and for some fans, it still won't matter that we can't win championships as long as Bo can get to 9 wins.
  21. Nothing says real fan like being disappointed that your team won. I would say many fans on here are happy for the players anytime they can win a game, but most don't feel Bo is the right guy to take the Huskers to the next level. You can hold both views. I still think there is no question that Bo should be fired and a new coach should come in. We finished 3rd in a weak division, and have not won any championships with Bo as coach.
  22. Yeah, let's not forget this same Iowa put up a good effort against Iowa State in a losing battle for the Hawkeyes.
  23. And that's not a good thing. We need to have a coaching staff that his our players consistently playing well.
  24. It was nice to see the team keep fighting today despite another year without a championship. Because they were able to come back, the Huskers were able to lock down 3rd place in the Big Ten West.
  25. We'll agree to disagree. It's a sad day when Nebraska fans find joy in their team struggling to beat a mediocre Iowa team in hopes of finishing in 3rd place in a crappy division.
