  1. Not just playing time. I honestly think we have a better chance at winning with Fyfe in the game. We have a better chance of winning with TA out of the game. This is the problem with Bo...well, one of many. He's not willing to bench TA and put in the backup, even if its just for a few series.
  2. I agree with you. TA is just not a good QB, especially under pressure. I wish we could just have an average QB that can make some throws and manage the game. Instead, we've had 6 years of running QBs that can't throw.
  3. In addition to a new coaching staff...we need a new qb and kicker.
  4. Only if we have absolutely zero injuries. Then it's OUR YEAR! It's really a sad day when Nebraska fans start talking like Cub fans.
  5. First, we have more problems than just the offense. Our defense is not good, especially against stronger teams. Second, as many have pointed out, Pelini has had 7 years to hire whoever he wanted to run the offense and defense, and if he can't do it in 7 years, what makes you think he can do it in an 8th year. Third, we've lost our biggest offensive weapons after this season, and we have 2 decent WR's returning, but our backup RB's have not shown much promise this year. Cross has been just ok, and Newby fumbles all the time. We need to eliminate the coaching staff who has these team playing below it's potential, and bring in a new staff that can get the team playing at least to their potential, and hopefully above their potential.
  6. In the 1990s Nebraska was obviously dominant, but it also was a program that many sportswriters admired. I remember hearing some say how amazing it was that small-state Nebraska in the middle of cornfields built such a powerhouse. They also admired Nebraska fans and the amazing following the team had in any road venue they competed in. I still think that there are many on the national scene that want to see Nebraska return to an elite program, and hence the articles we are seeing everywhere. They know Nebraska can do better than what Pelini is doing for the program, just as local fans know. Perhaps this media attention will get us somewhere, and help nudge SE to make a change. One can only hope.
  7. Tressel is still my top choice, but I would be happy with this guy too. He obviously can coach, but I'm just not certain at his track record of landing bigger-name recruits (like Tressel has proven to do).
  8. It was about this time last year we were having this same debate, and I would say there was a 50/50 split between the pro-Bo and anti-Bo crowd. My what a difference a year makes. It looks like many supporting Bo last year have seen the light and had enough.
  9. I know many of us are frustrated as Husker fans, and sometimes it's difficult to articulate all that we are feeling. Some may still be happy too with how things are going, or how Pelini is doing. If you had one word to describe how you are feeling about the Pelini era, please share it. I will start... Hopeless
  10. Well said...and both lack mental toughness...the kid unfortunately has seen that behavior demonstrated by his coach and has followed in his footsteps.
  11. He's honestly the most logical choice to me that's obtainable, he's a proven winner, knows what it takes to win in the B1G and always has his teams prepared. I know he comes with some risks from the whole tattoo issue, but I bet he would walk the line like crazy to make sure there were no issues. The university isn't going to just drive down to Alabama and offer Nick Saban 10 million dollars. What says he's successful here anyways? He may not be able to recreate that success here. Then again, Tressel may not be able to either........... I agree, plus Tressel may enjoy leading another Big 10 to elite status. My only question is...can he bypass his current clause that is in effect til 2016? I'm not sure how that would work.
  12. Tressel is the guy I would like to get as well. Outside of a tattoo issue with some players, what else has he been involved with that would warrant not trying to get this guy? He has succeeded at multiple levels of football, and in the years I watched him at OSU, he had his team ready to go every week. A couple of items to note: 1. From 2001-2010, Tressel had one blowout loss of 30 points or more. In 6-plus seasons at Nebraska, Pelini has had five 2. OSU competed in BCS-caliber bowls in 8 of 10 seasons, played in 3 NCGs, and won one. 3. Tressel has much greater connections to Ohio and that region than Pelini has from his days at Youngstown state. 13. I didn't realize there was a political thread here, but thanks for pointing that out.
  14. Well, that's just because they're probably paying attention.http://pleasecutthecrap.com/obama-accomplishments/ They are paying attention to a hit spin piece??? Or are they just on the inside and sheltered from reality as KB appears to be. I'm sure Bo-lievers could come up with a similar list of talking points as to why they feel Bo is doing a great job. I was waiting for the Obama comparison to this issue, even though he has nothing what-so-ever to do with Husker Athletics. But hey, whatever makes ya feel better about your self fella. And lets thank God he has nothing to do with Husker athletics. He's done enough damage to anything he has touched. The point in bringing up this example...and you could say this about the sons or daughters of any company CEO in the hotseat...that they are going to feel their parent is doing a great job.

  16. I would keep Brown and Warren. Warren has been a beast in recruiting in the Southeast and should become the overall lead recruiter for Nebraska. I've been impressed with him.
  17. That this post shows a misunderstanding of the fundamental nature of a very devoted fan. If everyone posting in this thread, or all of the threads after the Wiscy game, were nothing but negative all the time, there would be a point here. But we aren't. Mostly, most of us are mostly happy. Most of us hate nothing (except losing, and being a laughingstock across the college football world). I'm a Bo supporter, believe it or not. I still think he needs to not be the head coach here anymore. I'm a Kenny Bell fan, believe it or not. Still think he needs to stop trying to "educate" fans that are, for the most part, older than him and have been fans of this program since before he was born. I'm a Tim Beck fan. I'm a Barney Cotton fan. John Garrison fan. Ross Els fan. But none of them should be coaching here. There's no hate involved in that belief, just an observation based on the product they put on the field. No, everyone here isn't personally wrapped up in these kids playing this game. But we are avid fans of college football, and for the most part we know what good football is, and we know when we aren't seeing it. That's what we're (mostly) saying here. I'd say I'm as avid and knowledgeable of fan as there is. I've followed Husker football since early to mid 1960s, when a winning season was reason to celebrate. I've not said that what I see on the field resembles a "good product". I'm saying that being avid doesn't have to mean rabid, which it appears many on this board have become. I did over generalize perhaps, as obviously not everyone on here is over the edge. But my point is, you can be an avid fan and love the team without becoming personally involved and losing all sense of relativity.Reality, we pay a man 3.1 mil a year without bonuses. Anyone in here did a half ass job at their job they would be canned. It's kinda like that one guy at work who has been working for a while but no one can understand why he or she doesn't get how to do their job, it's frustrating. Being a coach doesn't make him more of a man than anyone else, its a job and he has not exceeded expectations. If that is good enough for people in blue collar jobs then why should it be different for Bo? Again...I agree, Bo has failed in a very noticeable way. People fail and lose jobs all the time. He should probably lose his, but I have zero input into that equation, no matter how big a fan I am. If I were a wealthy booster, maybe, but not as a fan. Wanting him or Beck or whoever to go is not bad, but becoming so hateful and riled up about it makes no sense. The only thing I can assume is that those who get so worked up have let Husker football become part of their identity. Letting something, over which you have no control, become part of your identity is a problem. Read my response to Knappic. I know, I've been there and got past it. I don't think frustrated fans on here have let Bo's inability to coach take over their identity. It doesn't have to be one extreme or another. But, I would say that most people have interests and passions in life, and for some, that is Husker football. It's not going to replace other focuses such as your job, children, sick parents, or whatever may be going on in your life personally, but it does help to provide an outlet and community outside of one's day to day routine. Many Nebraska fans don't stop being fans when the bowl game ends in January (like other programs). They follow recruiting into February, then the spring game, the summer Big Red Weekends, etc... Why? Because they have a passion for the game, and when the game and team they love so much is not being managed well, and the program's reputation is a joke to many with a head coach that cannot control himself or his team, it's ok for fans to be riled up and to call out those who are not doing their job. Nobody expects perfection, but we do expect a coach that has his team both physically and mentally tough so they are able to maximize their potential and not have the all too familiar blowout losses that has signified the Pelini era.
  18. I'm just going to give a one-liner to this one: I'm sure that Malia and Natasha Obama think their dad is doing a great job too.
  19. Of the Division 1 teams we've played this year, we've only beaten 2 with a winning record, and the win-loss combined total for the teams we have beaten is.... 30 wins and 40 losses I guess if the pro-Bo crowd enjoys racking up the score on cupcakes, more power to you. It's just setting up more false expectations that a Bo-coached program can really beat a top team in a must-win game. I think the most telling state of the Pelini era is this: 0 for 7....that's right, no championship wins in 7 chances
  20. As I stated this time last year, my expectation is that Bo would win one conference championship in 7 years. If that doesn't happen this year, I don't care how many cupcake teams ranked #30 or below he piles up, he needs to go. Did you know that Pelini has more losses by 30+ points than Callahan did? Wasn't Callahan fired for having big losses and not having a good defense?
  21. I live in Illinois here too and know what its like to be a Cubs fan. Frankly I stopped going to games and paying attention to the team as they have not proven its worth my time to invest in them. I agree that fans need to unify and boycott. I actually started the "Let the Sellout Streak End" thread last November after the humiliating loss to Iowa, and some were appalled at the thought of having that happen. But you are right...as fans we have to find a way to get the message out that it's time for a change. Pelini could go down with 2 notorious records as the Huskers coach. First, giving up more rushing yards to a single back in a single game in NCAA history. And 2, being the coach that let the streak end.
  22. You are exactly right on this one. I've been pretty vocal about Sipple's constant willingness to forgive Bo and marginalize many fans that are not happy with him. It's nice to see that he's seen the light and realizes that we will NEVER take the next step to an elite level with Bo as our head coach. I would like to start hearing Sipple and others following Nebraska sports be even more direct in calling for a regime change.
  23. You are spot on. With 3 cupcake non-conference games each year, and a 4th that is very winnable, plus 3 to 5 easier games in conference, there is no reason that NU should not get to 9 wins each year. It's not that remarkable of an accomplishment in a weak Big 10. The two toughest teams we have played this year we have gotten dominated, and it really wasn't all that close. At the end of the day, it comes down to whether you are ok with going to mid-tier bowl games every year, or if you want to win a championship. If it's the latter, Bo has to go. If its' the former, I assume you are plenty happy with Bo.
  24. He might be a bit torn now. It was his question that elicited the "I don't look at the big picture" response from Pelini. And you can only see the same rerun so many times before its time to change the channel. Sipple is a guy that is so afraid of losing his access to the team/program that he is unwilling to call it like it is. I honestly can't wait to see how he defends Bo on this one, or marginalizes those of us calling for Bo's ouster. Sipple's column did go up. He's not exactly defending Pelini. Even alluded to Eichorst having unpleasant things to think about on the flight home. For Sip, its a pretty harsh column. Glad to see he is more harsh. As I stated earlier, I think it takes more time for some people to come to the same realization that many of us had about Bo a couple years ago. For a guy like Sipple, who knows Bo more personally and wants to like Bo, that relationship has clouded his judgment as a sports analyst. It's no different than many people who voted for our current President (one or two times), and are now finally having a wake up call that he is not the right leader we need.
