  1. Ok, I know I don't see practice but why are players MIA? Mikale Wilbon is the first. I would continue but it's beating a dead horse. Tight end is a huge question mark. Where are they? Not impressed at all. Special teams, well, the worst of those is a YOUNG field goal kicker. He's learning and will both break our hearts and win us games this year. He won this one. How we gave up that onside kick is beyond me. Now to defense. They have got to really evaluate this. At this point the scheme is not working very well. the staff doesn't seem to be able to help the secondary with either technique or pressure. It's also troublesome to see our linebackers trailing every pattern out of the backfield. This could be a technique thing or maybe we just lack the speed currently to keep up. I'm not sure. I feel it might be time to maybe pull some red shirts for speed. What have you got to loose other than games. We have looked out of sync and lost half of the games we have played to this point.
  2. If the roles are reversed against the cheese, we are a happy fan base...
  3. No moral victories. A win by one loss is still a win. A loss in OT or a hail Mary is a loss. Thats the whole friggin problem. This team and fan base is looking for moral victories.... BS. We now start looking at "moral" victories as a win? No wonder we got 12 penalties...... I remember years ago, playing spirit football. I must have been 10-11. We go to the awards banquet. Coach points to the conference champs. Says you know why they are sitting there? They are winners. We are here because we are losers. You want to be a winner come back next year. I did and we won..... My point being, he didn't teach moral victories he taught that there were winners and losers......... We were one of the most dominant dynasties in the history of college football. We should never be satisfied or justified with almost winning. Hell even Bo's teams had some great comebacks. If I could find threads form last year, you'd still see the same "these guys didn't quit" stuff. Thats true, it's great they didn't. BUT NU shouldn't be 20+ points behind. We shouldn't have the pace of the game dictated to us. I agree, losing is miserable. The fact of the matter is not everyone is a born winner. It's something that you work for and learn from failures. Under the previous staff the whole learning from failures never came to fruition. This team, with this staff, has to learn from its failures and grow from it. If folks can't see the improvements by numerous players, that on them. My whole point is, while yes, everyone is tired of losing, it does no good to anyone to be so negative. This staff to its credit has told us all along what our deficiencies are. They try to make in game adjustments based on what the other team is doing and our guys do their best to execute. I look for in the future a lot of the same things to occur with more speed and a few better athletes. How quickly we forget the similar things that plagues coach Osborne. Listen to those players. It took the major disappointment of being heartbroken by FSU to say enough is enough. Then boom!!! A dynasty was born. Relax, grab some popcorn, beer, and some support and give it a chance to play out. If your coach said you were a loser and you gave up, where would you be? Not a champion then that's for sure, but you were given a chance to get better and you did. These young men deserve to same opportunity.
  4. after today's game, as a lifelong NU fan, I feel good. You should too being a member of this board. There are plenty of positive points to take out of this game. First, look at who we lost to on these first few games. A BYU team that is clearly a solid, if not great team. Now a Miami team that should ( if Golden doesn't lose for them) contend for some big things. This team is learning on the fly, as well as the coaches for that fact. One can't change over a short offseason in collage football. Patience will be needed. All the camps, practices, and coaching takes time to sink in. We are already in a better place by adjustments being made on both sides of the ball. Clearly both players and coaches are adjusting to each other. When they get on the same page, with lesser talent mind you, I see how high the ceiling can be. Offensively, the line is relitively new to each other. I expect this to mesh in the next few games. If not, changes will be made I'm sure. Newby didn't look all that bad today in my opinion. A little hesitant yet for sure, I really think he is gonna find his groove here in the next game or two. Receivers, a question mark coming into the season, has really been a surprise. DPE is quite possibly the missing link to a position that has been solid but let TA down a bit today. TE is definitely lacking! Carter does some good things as an athlete , but is exactly that, an athlete. Defense is easy. Just need more speed. This game reminded me of the early 90's games against the Florida teams. NU just lacks the speed to erase mistakes made on defense. The guys are in good position to make the plays, but just lack that extra gear to make the play when an elite skill guy turns on the jets. S&C could improve this, I'm not sure, hard to tell after 1 offseason. NU is really missing its studs from last year, you don't know what you got till its gone. Hopefully this staff can replenish the cabinet and help coach the deficiencies this team has. All hope is not gone considering the heart and persistence this team has shown. Throw in the fact that I'm not even sure Ohio state has the speed Miami does, much less the big10, and I'm optimistic to see how this all plays out.

  6. If that's his criteria, no amount of recruiting would change anything. He looked at the Iowegians and he looked at Nebraska, and he (apparently) decided their team setting was better than ours. If he wants to hitch his horse to Ferentz' wagon, more power to him, and all the luck in the world. I have a hard time believing any rational person would choose Iowa's situation over Nebraska's, but maybe not everyone is rational. Especially given the rumored locker room issues last year...
  7. The young adult, Noah, made his decision. Whether it turns out to be a good one for himself remains to be seen. If thes homegrown kids don't feel like they are wanted, that's on them. If the coaching staff doesn't feel he was the best fit and backed off, that's on them. Anyway it's looked at, bottom line is we want kids who want to play for NU. If he's not passionate about what he's doing, success will be hard to come by no matter where he goes. This is true about all recruits at all schools.
  8. Awesome! NU UNDEFEATED when this guy coaches in Lincoln!
  9. Am I the only one who thinks jay foreman would make a fantastic s&c coach? Just listening to him and his mindset is worth at least a conference championship in 5 years.
  10. hopefully he returns fully healty! Theres potential for him to salvage what has been a lackluster career to this point.
  11. Let's not forget anout Jamal turner IF he can stay healthy...kid has always been under utilized
  12. The Sock says"know your role and shut your mouth!!! If you smellllll what the Sock is cookin'"
  13. This thread is so epic we should fire a coach every year...that is till Tressel agrees to be our coach
  14. Call the White House, get the pres involved
  15. Give me RG44 and KB to the niners! Speed and youth @ those 2 positions continue to keep the future looking bright
  16. Just be patient and watch the chemistry develop, big plays will come. It will just be in a different form now. That 16 yard catch and run by AA on 4 th n 15 is the biggest play on the season so far. HUGE play just a different type. Might not be huge chunks of yardage but the fire is just starting...give it time
  17. For being on the job training, I'd say that Bo has done a decent job of winning plenty of games. Lost a few as well but man, he's come a long way and I feel like he is really starting to turn the corner not only in this season but as a coach in general. The way he handled the tape deal earlier, a lot of guys woulda just packed up, not only himself, but his team has really persevered a lot this year and both are maturing quite well in my opinion.
  18. I can't believe these guys! I just threw up in my mouth a bit. I hope we can pull off the win. Sad thing is, if we do, it'll be a restless night for coeds in Ann Arbor with these monsters out prowling around.
  19. All our guys showed a lot of heat today, hats off to them all! AA was tremendous as always! Congrats for what was the biggest play prior to the catch! Without your conversion, never would have happened, THANKS AA!
