  1. Same here. There is no more time to do this. We have been mediocre for 12 years now, there is no more time. We are at a critical juncture for this program. Riley was a "fix it now" hire, not a wait and see. A coach that is his age does not have the time to build a program from the ground up. The program can't afford to wait another 4 or 5 years to at least return to respectability. The school admin, boosters and donors need to realize this. They are playing with fire and skirting the line with fan apathy. Once the fans are lost, and it's happening now, the rest of it goes down the tubes. If this continues past this year, look out. It takes a toll on everything, from financing to recruiting. I really hope Riley get's control of this. I truly would like to see him succeed.
  2. I believe SE had his eye on Riley from a while back. I think he was an assistant or something at another school who tried to lure Riley away from OSU and failed. He probably had it in his mind that he would be a great hire if he ever had an AD position. Then again, why did he pick Golden instead of Riley? Or did he hire Golden?
  3. I had noticed this too. Honestly, at this point in the game I knew we were going to lose, and this happening to us just seemed par for the course. Just like later in the drive when they had seven tries to knock it in from the goal line. Everything in the last minute and a half of that game went terribly wrong for us.
  4. It's kind of sad we have been relegated to examining what these guys are doing on Twitter. They just need to ban the darn thing from the team. At least during the season anyway.
  5. How about Joe Moglia Year Team Overall Conference Standing Bowl/playoffs Coaches# TSN° Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (Big South Conference) (2012–present) 2012 Coastal Carolina 8–5 5–1 T–1st L FCS Second Round 24 24 2013 Coastal Carolina 12–3 4–1 T–1st L FCS Quarterfinal 7 7 2014 Coastal Carolina 12–2 4–1 T–1st L FCS Quarterfinal 5 5 2015 Coastal Carolina 4–0 0–0 Coastal Carolina: 36–10 13–3 Total: 36–10 Forgot about Moglia. He's doing pretty well also.
  6. Another point, to all those that say we are just like any other fanbase, that is absolutely incorrect. We have sold out that stadium for who knows how long, we get letters and comments about how great of an experience it was to come to Lincoln from other fans, opposing players and coaches. Nowhere else does this happen. And it is because of our fans.
  7. Uhh. . . since when has Nebraska tried to hire from the "good ole boy" network? I guess Bo could be considered one, along with Solich. Get this, that "good ole boy" mentality, got Nebraska a record of 125-46. So, what's wrong with a guy with Nebraska ties again? Outside of a possibility of Frost, well, it's pretty simple. What Nebraska guy has a proven track record in big boy college football? And when you put too much stress into that stuff, you lose sight on just getting the best possible. Thats the mistake we just made. We got too caught up with class and the antiBo that we made no attempt at the "best". Just get the best. Spend the money. Get the best. To hell with Nebraska ties. Our behavior aint no different than any other fan base anyway. So why get so caught up with someone who "understands" this place. Just win football games. I agree with you, get the best possible candidate. That's been a pipe dream of mine for the last decade. I am not convinced we are willing to shell out the money for it. Also, what Nebraska guy that I mentioned doesn't have a proven track record in big boy college football?

  9. I'm not saying Riley should be fired after this season. But IF it did happen, why not get someone with some husker ties to fill the job. Turner Gill? Scott Frost? Maybe Bohl?
  10. This gave me a chuckle. Thanks for that, I needed it after Saturday.
  11. They won't be coming this year, not unless something miraculous happens.
  12. Unfortunately, you are probably right. And all set up for a huge disappointment next week. I'll take that if your selling it.
  13. Oh man, taking gruff from Canesfan01 still. Are you going to be here all year? I guess misery loves company.
  14. You know, considering Riley's buyout is small enough...I wonder if our current administration knew this would happen and wanted to hold out for someone like Chip Kelly to become available in a year or two? They could've at least looked around and took some time for a better candidate. It's not like Riley was the last of the guys who would take the job. He was obviously at the top of the list. What about Gill or Frost? Or Paul Johnson? Jeez, this is going to be a long year or two.
  15. We could get skunked in conference play. The rest of the B1G looks much better than we do. No way we make it right now.
  16. Unfortunately, you are probably right.
  17. It's not an idea, it's a fact. Straight from the horse's mouth. Link
  18. I didn't look at all the websites and find out, but how does a coach go from being 27th ranked in '14 to 40th ranked in '15, after changing to a better school with better resources? I guess coming to Nebraska will do that to a coach. . . sigh. Link. How? Simple. Overreaction to the results of the first 4 games of a transition year. It is understandable tho. The main positive that has been proven by them is the improvement of Tommy and the passing game. The rest is speculation at this point. The athlon rankings were made before the season started. They didn't have the opportunity to watch us play, probably a good thing because Riley might be ranked even lower considering.
  19. I started a thread about this a few weeks back. Most teams in football at all levels do not substitute their o-line. Teams that do substitute, do it for different reasons. Teams that run option style football, tend to substitute more, ie. Georgia Tech, Army, Navy etc. Michigan St. substitutes their line out frequently to keep their players fresh. Some teams substitute out when their is no discernible drop-off from the ones and twos (Wyoming, BP Nebraska). However, the vast majority of teams at all levels, do not substitute their o-line. Link.

  21. So we should call Banker.......1200!!! Hopefully not about to be 1500! Actually, I would be happy if he finished this season with the name 1200.
