  1. Maybe TO is waiting until TG decides on a DC? It is obvious that KC won't be back, and that is OBVIOUSLY our weakest link. Why does an :asshat have to bag on someone's religious beliefs. That is total crap. Please just go away.
  2. He'll end up with an LB job on whatever team BC coaches on -- they'll be a package deal. Hell, if BC was this loyal to him at NE he should take him to the NFL with him. What is the worst offense in the NFL? That is where I predict both of them end up.
  3. I kind of agree -- I'm not sure that I think he is the best man for the job either. I just think this is what is going to happen.
  4. If that were the case then why in hell did we even hire a search firm? My biggest draw back on Gill will be is this....Who actually will be running the team? The HC or the AD? For that EXACT reason that is why I don't want Gill here! I am beginning to think that many who want Gill back are really hoping that TO runs the team with Gill being the "yes man" that carries out the orders, coaching, etc. Again, that is one of the main reasons I DON'T want Gill here! Yes it was a hell of a run in the 90's, thinking about it still makes people feel all warm and fuzzy. Watching Osborne out think the other team, rolling through the Big 12 schools and then playing in NC games. I admit those days were great as a Husker fan. I guess what I am trying to say is this, the Days of Tom Osborne coaching the Huskers ARE OVER. Some of us need to LET IT GO! Wow - all the hatred just because TG was coaching on a team that had one of the best runs in college football. I don't think TO will coach again, and yes, I have let it go. However, to have 25 years of very successful HC experience to ask questions and to bounce ideas off of now and again is not a bad thing.
  5. I don't think this was directed at me, but in case it was, I don't think TG is a Yes Man; however, I do think he will listen to what TO has to say. I don't think our former coach even wanted to hear TO speak. I only say TO will stay on because TG only has 2 years of HC experience.
  6. I don't know if this will be the best move either, and I'm not trying to stump for TG to be the next HC. I just think (based on everything I've read), that this is the plan. The reason for the search firm -- my guess is that TO didn't KNOW he wanted to hire Gill when the search firm was hired (my guess two or three weeks ago). He justed wanted a very short list of interested candidates to bring in a coach quickly.
  7. Gill will be named head coach by the latest, Monday. Reasons TO likes Gill; 1. He has proven in two years that he can motivate lesser talent to overachieve. 2. He brings integrity to the program (not saying others won't, TO KNOWS Gill will). 3. He will not "gut" the entire coaching staff -- likely to keep on a vast majority of assitants. 4. TO will stay on for two years as Interim AD and Mentor Gill, and Gill is most likely to listen to a lot of what TO has to say. The two assitants I know will go, and their replacements: KC --> Jimmy Williams will be Co-DC and LB coach. PE --> Marvin Sanders will be Co-DC and Secondary Coach. The rest, for the most part, will remain, pending interviews by Gill. There, that is my guess and I'm sticking to it.
  8. I think he will get his shot one day to work his way up through the college coaching ranks - if that is his ambition.
  9. Ridiculous --> unless you are talking about a GA position. That is usually where we bring in HS coaches. Not a remote chance in hell that we bring him in as HC.
  10. Tom is going to announce himself as head coach on Dec 3rd with Turner as OC, Bo as DC, and 5 new 5 star recruits that have just committed (all from the State of Nebraska - nobody knew about these guys before the PC). He will state that we are going to run the wishbone base offense, with a modified spread (all RB's going in motion adn QB drops back into the gun) about 1/2 the time. To combat the spread offenses, our base defense is going to be a 2-4-5, used in Super Bowl XXV by the New York Giants.
  11. So Bill B. doesn't want to coach at any college where they want to win National Championships? Or have consistently winning seasons and playing for conference championships? I guess he could return to the Mountaint West or maybe the WAC or Conference USA? That just doesn't seem like a college coaches attitude to me, and for some reason I doubt it is his attitude.
  12. And you're sure all that in-state recruiting had nothing to do with possibly improving on the walk-on program? We don't need the entire staff touring the state looking for walk-ons to improve the program. Most of these young men will come on there own after a phone call.
  13. TO has said he would not leave the staff hanging on his evaluation of them (i.e. they will know as they go along - it won't be "your fired" on Saturday unless they see it coming). My guess is that TO has already let BC know what changes should be made in the best interest of the program. It is my further guess that BC has flatly refused -- my only evidence; no recruits visiting for the K-State game and only in-state recruiting between the K-State and CU game. TO has to move too quickly on a new HC for him not to be constantly talking to BC about what needs to happen. He can't wait until Saturday, then tell BC what changes need to be made, give BC a few days to think about it, then a week or so later fire him. TO has to already have a very short list of very interested candidates to salvage the recruiting class.
  14. I didn't hear BC stating at that point his system didn't work. But when he scores 73 - wow, it is all about the system. Nice.
  15. KU every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.
  16. I hate to throw a wrench in the one positive thing you said, but what is recruiting if you can't get the players to play for you. With that said, I don't think he's been the main recruiter behind these classes. Guys like Blake, Norvell, Watson and Bush get the majority of the credit. Not to mention, has he recruited any defensive players? Becasue Solich's last team had eons more talent on the defensive side of the ball than this team [williams, johnson, washington, bullocks, bullocks, bingham]. Although recently he has proven he knows exactly what his recruiting class is ranked by Rivals: [loose translation]: "you know it's flusterating, putting together a top-seven ranked class, a lot of hard work goes into that. I have alot of respect for our coaches, and all the hard work they've put in, in every respect, putting together that top-seven class." -- Bill Callahan, at two seperate press conferences this season. That is pretty funny to me, cause TO basically said that stars don't mean anything. I think I'll go with the guy with three national champions. I'm not saying the 5 star atheletes aren't good to have - but if they aren't taught the right things, put in the right schemes, and willing to give the effort necessary - they might as well be 1 stars.
  17. BC's lack of character in certain situations, arrogance, and unwillingness to take any of the blame (see discussion below), and the comments of his agent (who REPRESENTS him) have really turned me off to him. I would have a hard time cheering for him in any format in the future. I would, however, always cheer for the kids that put on the Husker Red. Lack of character - F'in hillbillies & throat slash specifically. These are things I was trying to over look in the past, but really stand out now after how he has handled the entire situation of the pressure we fans have put on him. What did he think, we'd just be like "oh, a losing season every three years is ok with us, because you're obviously a genius Bill". Arrogance - read the lastest journalstar article about Ganz's last game. nuff said. Unwillingess to take the blame - oh yes, he started every interview with it stops with me. But it was obviously just fodder for the masses, because after that, it was all about execution, all about missed tackles or blocks, it was NEVER about adjustments the coaching staff needed to make it was ALWAYS about what the players did wrong. After all of this, I really just can't stand him in general - it has nothing to do with coaching.
  18. I guess I'm a little ignorant about how the whole coaching thing works so I'm asking for a little information, but in the past what I've noticed is that... 1. Coaches usually are/are not fired until after the end of the regular season, even if the team goes to a bowl. 2. If the team goes to a bowl, and Interim HC is usually invovled. 3. A new HC may be named before the bowl. However, they usually are coaching there own team or an assistant coach somewhere else -- do they usually leave that team or finish out? 4. You CAN'T wait until after the bowl season because recruiting will go into the tank. So, my guess is that the AD of the school probably is contacting potential candidates through their agents before the end of the regular season so he has a real short list. Do you think TO is doing that now?
  19. Ok, I'll admit it, I asked him to resign, but when I told him all I could give him was a dollar, he respectfully declined.
  20. Yeah, my thoughts are win out, win the bowl game, end up 7 - 5 and get rid of at least KC and then I might consider it. But, I don't think we can win out.
  21. Haven't seen this discussed yet, but looked at the NCAA stats website and we are the very best at giving up rushing yards per game. Way to go KC - your the best man!
  22. Not to burst your bubble, but they did lose a 17-3 lead. How you could think that is going in the right direction is beyond me. It is going in a better direction than the last 3 weeks is all - at least they had a 17 - 3 lead on the road.
  23. I said the Huskers wouldn't get within two touchdowns the rest of this season. The players gave an inspired effort today and I have to eat my words. I know people say we still lost, but, if the team can give this type of effort the rest of the season, win or lose, I am willing to give at least part of the coaching staff a chance (however, they still did rush for over 300 yards on us, so maybe someone needs to go). Did we do something drastically different this off-season in strength and conditioning? When you have to put 9 in the box all day long to stop the run, something tells me there is something devastatingly wrong with our front four. But it was the best game plan - we just got tired, then got burnt at the end.
  24. Players played with heart. Defensive scheme wasn't horrible. Offensive game plan was good. 1. Don't know what happened after the 1st drive in the 3rd quarter on O. 2. When your D-line is so bad that you have to put 9 in the box all day long to stop the running plays, your bound to get burned sooner or later. I did about puke though when they ran three straight zone options for about 25 yards a piece to get a TD. Man, are we every going to learn how to stop that thing.
  25. The fact that he keeps having to repeat that he has done an excellent job at EVERY press conference is annoying.
