  1. You are accepting of mediocrity and most here are no longer. It really is that simple. Our national brand is tarnished, our name is irrelevant, and most people think our coach is a complete dick. Every embarrassing loss makes it that much harder for us to return to any sort of prominence.
  2. I have nothing but respect for Osbourne, but both of his picks to run this program have been flops. Sometimes greatness is about knowing your own limitations. Love TO and the hiring of 2 crappy football coaches doesn't tarnish his contributions to NU at all to me Nor for me. I'm not sure he should have much involvement in the hiring of a third coach though.

  4. +1. I don't think, however, that the program will get that much negative PR, if any. The perception of Pelini outside the state of Nebraska is terrible, as anyone who lives elsewhere can tell you. Nor are these feelings new to this season.
  5. No way. He's scum. And he's just gotten done celebrating his first ever conference win at his new gig.
  6. I admire that Eichorst is a man of professional discretion. I hope he is also a good leader, because he has some serious decisions to make in the near future. The entire staff needs to be dismissed, Head Coach, OC, and DC. Anything less is a bandaid fix that will not solve the underlying issues plaguing this team. I would personally like Ron Brown to stick around, but ultimately the new head coach needs to be given the discretion to assemble his staff the way he sees fit.
  7. Lol, ok, the "fair weathers". If it was up to guys like you, we'd sit around and get embarrassed for another 10 years for the simple reason that "GOTTA SUPPORT THE TEAM, DEEEEERP!!!" We'd probably still be a colony of Britain if you were around back then. LOL!!! This had me rolling. Post of the day for sure. Though I think he agrees with you, hence the use of quotations around fair weather.
  8. Unfortunately, I think you are correct.
  9. Perhaps its because Ron Brown is a tremendous asset to the program and he develops his players well? Those qualities alone set him apart from the rest of the staff.
  10. Fixed it for you...wait that's not right... There, that looks more realistic at this point in time. Ouch. Very sad.
  11. I disagree. If he must be forced by outside pressure to make changes he has no business being the CEO of the football program. A guy is either trusted to do his job properly, or he isn't.... Either let Pelini run the program as he sees fit, or axe him. This is a situation where the middle ground is not the best option, IMO. Now if Pelini unilaterally, and without threats, fired his coordinators he would have a much better case for being given more time.
  12. I want Bo gone, but I worry about this behavior happening as well. I knew Steve Pederson's daughter in college and the way some people treated her was absolutely disgraceful. It takes a true loser to attack a man's family. I really, really hope that doesn't happen to Bo and his family.
  13. Same situation in my location as well.
  14. How close have we been once we didn't have 4-5 future NFL guys (mostly Cally recruits) on the defense? In four years in the mediocre Big 10, we have appeared in ONE title game, and we lost in embarrassing fashion to the #2 team in the Leaders division. Well, his credibility is now as extinct as T. Rex.
  15. No. For years now we've been having the same horrendous results in spite of having different personnel, different players, and different opponents. Only one factor has been constant throughout: Bo. I've been saying for years now that all of Bo's teams have a fundamental psychological flaw, and I believe now, as I always have, that the flaw primarily comes from Pelini himself. The thinking that he should be given an ultimatum to fire his coordinators or leave with them is just nonsense. If a CEO has to have their job dictated to them, they are derelict in their duty and undeserving of being a CEO.
  16. Pray tell what you will do. I can tell you what I won't do: shut up and not voice my concerns with the program just because something I say on an Internet forum might harm recruiting. Was hoping for something more exciting and meaningful. Well I'm very sorry to disappoint you. My comments were addressing the subject of this thread, which was essentially "shut up and don't voice your concerns on an Internet forum because it might harm recruiting". But please, feel free to contribute something exciting and meaningful of your own.

  18. But we aren't reacting appropriately. Were freaking out after a win. Nebraska fans are notorious for overreacting. Today we very narrowly avoided one of the most embarrassing defeats in modern NCAA history. We were shamed and exposed in nearly every aspect of the game of football. I'm sorry, but in that context, a win is not simply a win. This game was totally, completely, and absolutely unacceptable. And I won't sit here like a drone and accept it just because we ended up beating a team that can't afford to have the names of their players printed on their uniforms. The fact that this is a recurring theme with all Bo Pelili teams leads me to the conclusion that there is a serious problem with the coaching and mentality of this team. A problem I no longer think can be fixed under the current regime.
  19. Even though I know it's a stunt, it's still working.
  20. what the hell does the two underline sentences even mean? and if you are asserting that recruiting has gotten better, i will wait and see. i guess you could say that claim is unfounded speculation. 1. It means the media influence didn't get Pelini fired. 2. It means we've had less recruiting whiffs, especially on the DL and they are ready to make a significant impact. Had he been fired at the end of the regular season last year, do you seriously think it would have been the fault of the sports media and not the fault of Pelini himself?
  21. and, again, it is funny that people think forde is a joke for putting bo on the hot seat. a rational fanbase would be flattered. he is saying that we are better than just at least 9 wins a season. we are on a list with top programs who he thinks should be enjoying more success than they are. and we are our outraged by that notion. taking it personally. i would imagine that is because bo is now bigger than the program for some. Hammer, meet nail. It certainly appears that some outsiders have greater expectations for our program than some of our own fans. When I see posts happy about winning 9 games, or those claiming that nobody else would want to come coach here, I realize how profoundly the Callahan/Pederson fiasco damaged the psyche of this fanbase. It's saddening.
  22. I largely agree with this sentiment. However, I doubt selling-out the student tickets would be an issue, even with all the screw-jobs I outlined above, if the product on the field wasn't mediocre or consistently inconsistent. http://m.us.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424052702304795804579097223907738780?mobile=y The culture and forces at work at each school are different, so I don't think you can necessarily draw conclusions about what's going on here based on what's going on in Alabama or Georgia. We don't have much of a history of not selling student tickets out, even with poor on-field performance (all of which contrasts quite sharply with Alabama, evidently). That tells me that there are multiple factors at play here, the biggest of which, in my opinion, is the performance of the team and the perception of stagnation. Like I said above, I think making student tickets nontransferable was the straw that broke the camel's back, when combined with the other factors I've mentioned. That's what my friends still at UNL are telling me at least.

  24. I don't know how this situation can surprise anyone. The University has treated the student fans poorly for a number of years now, and lots of students now have an "F-off" attitude toward the administration. This situation really began when the University decided to move virtually the entire student section to BFE South Stadium. This is in contrast to many other large universities, where student sections are closer to the field and/or closer to midfield. Anyone, for example, remember our game at TAMU a few years ago? They brought in extra seats to put at field level so more of their students to come to the game and make it loud. Meanwhile, we moved our students farther away and minimized their impact on the game. All the friends I have still at UNL decided for the first time this year not to get student tickets due to the inability to validate and transfer tickets to non-students. The inability to do this is essentially pissing money away for many students, and it was the straw that broke the camel's back. I really think, and have heard, that the new policy on ticket transfers combined with the opportunity to buy some of the worst tickets in the stadium are the primary driving forces of this situation.
