What has happened to this place? I used to love coming here because it was that awesome and the posters were All N. Now I only come because I'm addicted.
I realize I have a bad rap here and that's fine. I'm not here to make BFF, although I can guarantee I'm the one guy here you for sure would love to have a beer with.
Im here to talk football and have a blast cheering on Nebraska. What are you guys here for?

Don't feed anybody that line of crap about becoming a fan "for the right reasons". That's just another way of saying you're a better fan or others aren't a real fan. That's BS. Don't sit there and tell us you became a fan for the right reasons just because you've never known the dominance so many of us became accustomed to.
I became a fan because I was born and raised in Nebraska, prior to our first titles in 70 & 71. I was just old enough to kind of comprehend those. Then I went to UNL in the early 80's when we should've won another 1 or 2 titles. And by the 90's I was able to travel to quite a few away games and go about once a year in Lincoln. I'm sorry you came along too late to experience that stuff. You may have become a fan in the Callahan years....that is when I learned I could turn off a terrible game or record it and watch it later. It's pretty much sucked ever since the 2001 debacle in Boulder for me. I was at that game and it changed me. I still have to watch the games for some unknown, uncontrollable reason and I still cheer for my Huskers to win every freaking week. But I hate it when we suck and I hate it when we don't perform as well as we should and I've given up hope that any significant change is just around the corner. I've known heartbreak as a fan and it is much different than the disappointment of just not being very good. Sorry but don't tell anybody they are somehow less of a fan because they didn't become one when we were struggling. It's okay to know success and I hope you get to experience that part of it sometime.

Sorry, went off a bit there. That was intended for mattys comment about falling in love with the program for the right reasons. Point is, there is no right or wrong reason for being a fan. In my case, I don't even have a reason, or a choice, it just is what I am. I couldn't avoid it if I tried, and I have tried.
