There might be a rule in the contract but you can't "force" a person to take a certain salary.  As far as the money owed to him from NU and that changing, I don't know and nor do I care.  I hope he gets every penny that he was owed.  It is the dream to get paid for not working...I would love to be living that dream like he is.

You can "force" someone to take a certain salary if they signed a contract stating if they became employed somewhere else, the salary had to be comparable to other salaries of the same position.  That is what Riley agreed to.  

I don't know if you can "force" them to take a certain salary but you can probably only pay them the difference between what the "comparable" salary "should" be and what their contract states.
