  1. The three teams that beat them have a combined record of 17-2. And, those two losses were by Wake Forest to NCST who just took Clemson to OT and to #14 FSU (17-6).
  2. That was what our offense put up on their defense. 100 more than their average. Under rush offense you have that Northwestern had 310 vs Nebraska. They only had 137. (You have the same exact 310 under rush defense, which is what Nebraska ran against their rush defense.)
  3. And those two almost picks...ugh Other than that though, he had a pretty good game. Almost picks. LOL. I guess we are going to have to start counting almost tackles, almost blocks, almost catches, and almost touchdowns too. LMAO. As far as on topic posts, I wonder if BTN doesn't want to hype Nebraska to not set up the B1G looking bad in case the Huskers get blown out by Oregon.
  4. I really hope he can anchor the line with Maurice and we aren't reliant on the Davis Twins day 1. I think they will only get better as the season goes on, but DT tends to take a few years of proper development. I doubt Coach Parrella ever dreamed that if he ever had the opportunity to be the D-line coach at Nebraska that he would walk into a situation this dire. He definitely gets a chance to prove what he can do this year.
  5. I like the Minny trophy. It's genuine, and came about in a real creative way. The rivalry isn't there but the desire for the trophy could potentially spark one... Don't let these "old skoolers" fool you, since it is 3-2 since "THE" NU joined the B1G, I would consider it a rivalry. (AND for the ole' fogies, Minny leads lifetime 31-23-2, but those ole' fogies will say they aren't that old and only start counting from '63.)
  6. No one better come in complaining about that for this one. That's just straight garbage. Inappropriate sexual connotation by coaches?! Good grief. I don't care if they were trying to be funny or not that is freaking ridiculous. Hear, Hear. I'm all for the world becoming a little bit too pc, but this is ridiculous. If this is the type of attitude that coaches are putting out there, it is no wonder there are the off the field/court problems that are happening in male athletics today. The people in these positions need to be POSITIVE role models.
  7. My thoughts exactly. Usually the highlight of my Friday. "Who's the baddest low down Mo-fo this side of Harlem?"
  8. They said he was out with injury when they were listing all of the Nebraska players that were out at beginning of the broadcast.
  9. Totally different today than the Northwestern game. Just about every pass in Northwestern game was a 9+ yard drop back. Today, I think I only noticed one that was that deep. Everything else, TA hardly dropped back from the original 5 yards at all. It must have been something they worked on this week.
  10. I'd like to know what 2-3 possessions each half Beck wasted today. We not only run plays/series to set up future plays in the game, but, we run plays/series to set up future plays in future games. Those 50 yard runs from AA don't come about because we run it in the A/B gaps from the I formation every play.
  11. As is ours. Yes. I thought OSU may be the cream of the B1G crop after getting their O-line straightened out. Now, I think OSU, MSU, and Nebraska are all about the same a top the B1G. Nebraska should win out and meet either OSU/MSU in B1G championship game. Nebraska history suggests that there is a high probability of that NOT happening. But, that is my expectation.
  12. Ohio State's recent success is more a product of their competition and not necessarily their capability.
  13. Beck would be the smartest OC in FBS if he would read this board every week. Diamond needs to be more prominent in this O with teams stuffing the box to stop AA. The reason that diamond formation works so well is because it's a balanced formation. We can make an audible and no one has to shift. That is why Osborne loved to use balanced sets out of the I-Formation, Ace, and Shotgun. I'm not only a huge fan of the diamond formation, but with Nebraska's roster, I'm a fan of the diamond personnel grouping. You can go up tempo with bell, westerkamp, AA, Newby, and Cross. Diamond formation. Three wide with newby split out, four wide with,Newby and AA split out. You have it all there, power run, horizontal spread, vertical spread. How can a defense substitute to stop that, especially uptempo?
  14. Yeah, watching Oregon here. Mariotta lines up about 5 yards from LOS doesn't get more the 1 1/2 yards back from there, even on 54 yard downfield play action pass.
  15. Excellent post. Some of these bozos don't get that if the DE can run as fast as possible for 5 yards straight ahead and then cut to the qb that there isn't an OT in the world that can shuffle backwards fast enough to stop him. It brings up a lot of questions for me. Do shotgun qb's take different steps than under center qb's? IE, it appears that Tommy's first step is with his left foot and that he takes even number of steps to get his right foot planted. Do under center qb's have their right foot back at snap and thus that counts as the fiirst step to get the odd number of steps in their step count to get to their plant foot? If 7 steps is a deep drop for an under the center qb than wouldn't a 6 step drop (something that appears normal for Nebraska) for a shotgun qb 5 yards behind the LOS be quite excessive? From what I've seen TA lines up 5 yards from the LOS. A two/three step drop puts him at 6/7 yards, which is as deep as he should be getting normally. A pro-style 7 step drop is usually about 9 yards deep. If he goes deeper than 6/7 yards and his first option isn't open by the time he sets his plant foot, he should be moving forward looking at his other options. I have seen him get to 12 yards deep on a play action pass. I only have the Northwestern game on DVR but it looks to me on "drop back" passes he does his 6 step deal and ends up at 9 yards. Also, in obvious passing situations, one or both of the opponents DEs just goes as fast as he can to the 9 yard behind center spot.
