Look at what Lavonte David has done in the NFL. Every time I check his stats, he's the top tackler for Tampa Bay and usually by a large margin. One of the things that makes Bill Snyder a great coach is that he gets the best players on the field. I hope that our new coaching staff has some common sense and can do the same.

So, if you suck and you hire a guy that will make your team less sucky, you get ranked high? Those rankings are pretty worthless, IMO.

ESPN shows that he was 49 which is still way too young. He obviously wasn't looking for sympathy because I had no idea that he had cancer. My son loves sports, so ESPN is on the TV a lot. I enjoyed his work and don't ever recall him being controversial like some commentators.

If I was at a point in my life where I didn't need a ton of money, I think I might enjoy taking a step down in responsibility and pay. A position coach can focus on one thing and do it really well.

I read the article about him in the Lincoln paper. He sounds like a great guy and a good influence on the players. I wish him the best of luck.

That sucks for Randy. Sorry to hear it. I think it's a good reason for him to return for his senior year.

If PETA didn't make a big deal of it, the kids that look up to NU players would never hear of it. Still, I don't see this as a football issue. An athlete can't fart today without it being an issue for the University.

I like hearing this. I think this philosophy is what makes coaches like Bill Snyder great. He gets the best guys on the field and uses them in the best way possible.

World class education, top ranked facilities, storied program yet the main concern with recruits is message boards... BRILLIANT! I made a simple point about recruits and you reply with "brilliant"? Thanks. I'm not going to argue. My point is relevant.

I'll be glad when the bitchin' stops (or at least slows) so that recruits don't have to see the negativity. I'm not a koolaid drinker, but I see no point in putting the negativity on a public board. How does it help? Assuming SE is an intelligent person, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. I hope the recruits form their own opinions of the coaches and ignore the complaining that they are probably reading.

Other than those two guys, have any of the other hires been made official, or all of the reports still tied back to the lady with SI?
