  1. The stats I track don't include those from games versus teams outside your conference, let alone your division, but Nebraska's place changes relative to what everyone else did all the same. See below for the matchup with those who would follow the urban liar... passing defense completions per game: 9th percentile (NU) to 57th percentile (those who think dotting an "i" is noteworthy) percentage: 54 to 91 yards per attempt: 42 to 53 touchdowns per game: 50 to 50 rating: 51 to 67 yards per game: 6 to 29 passing offense completions per game: 78 to 100 percentage: 81 to 97 yards per attempt: 61 to 77 touchdowns per game: 49 to 100 rating: 62 to 91 yards per game: 74 to 99 rushing defense yards per game: 29 to 71 touchdowns per game: 6 to 74 yards per carry: 19 to 47 rushing offense yards per game: 74 to 25 touchdowns per game: 74 to 12 yards per carry: 89 to 26 scoring defense touchdowns per game: 12 to 65 points per game: 8 to 69 scoring offense touchdowns per game: 61 to 84 points per game: 57 to 84 total defense yards per play: 21 to 42 yards per game: 8 to 53 plays per game: 13 to 69 rush yds per game: 29 to 71 pass yds per game: 6 to 29 total offense yards per play: 86 to 77 yards per game: 89 to 98 plays per game: 59 to 98 rush yds per game: 74 to 25 pass yds per game: 74 to 99 turnover margin fumbles gained per game: 12 to 64 interceptions gained per game: 45 to 45 turnovers gained per game: 20 to 55 fumbles lost per game: 36 to 87 interceptions lost per game: 55 to 55 turnovers lost per game: 44 to 81 turnover margin per game: 26 to 74
  2. I'm not disagreeing but I feel that what he did last year, considering his youth and all that was (not?) going on around him, has to count for at least as much.
  3. Ah, thanks for clarifying. It's a little less odd, then. I know there was a PI I thought would be called against us had we been playing against a bigger team than Minnesota last weekend.
  4. Maybe this was already covered but Sharp and Benning were talking about how the holding call against Minnesota last weekend marked the first time in 21 conference games for Nebraska that their opponent was called for holding. That's unreal and obviously extends beyond the Frost era.
  5. Mackerel snappers unite! Things have changed a lot in this country over the past century. I mean, sure, there was recently a TV show on FOX called, "The Mick," but it's not like it was about some drunk. Was it? I didn't watch but FOX seems to be pretty sensitive when it comes to the perception of racism against the pale (if their news programming is any indicator).
  6. It's not my cup of tea, as one of Irish Catholic descent (who tries not to be a plastic paddy), but it's in keeping with the history of Nebraska football.
  7. I don't follow how the free minor league becoming a paid minor league will be bad for the sport. I think it's bad that a kid's test scores and grades can affect his ability to benefit from the best coaching available. I think it's bad that a team in the top division can't play for a championship even when they've gone undefeated over the course of the regular season. I don't even know how to sum up what a joke NCAA discipline is...

  10. I don't have FCS stats figured so I won't have Bethune-Cookman represented ITT but you can see how things have changed since last weekend for the Big Red Machine below: passing defense completions per game: 10th percentile (winless N) to 11th percentile (N with a win) percentage: 49 to 53 yards per attempt: 56 to 41 touchdowns per game: 43 to 49 rating: 54 to 51 yards per game: 13 to 7 passing offense completions per game: 73 to 77 percentage: 61 to 78 yards per attempt: 51 to 61 touchdowns per game: 35 to 50 rating: 45 to 63 yards per game: 72 to 75 rushing defense yards per game: 20 to 29 touchdowns per game: 9 to 8 yards per carry: 12 to 19 rushing offense yards per game: 44 to 72 touchdowns per game: 51 to 72 yards per carry: 59 to 88 scoring defense touchdowns per game: 11 to 12 points per game: 5 to 8 scoring offense touchdowns per game: 35 to 61 points per game: 31 to 59 total defense yards per play: 23 to 20 yards per game: 7 to 7 plays per game: 14 to 16 total offense yards per play: 63 to 86 yards per game: 66 to 88 plays per game: 55 to 57 turnover margin fumbles gained per game: 18 to 14 interceptions gained per game: 42 to 45 turnovers gained per game: 22 to 21 fumbles lost per game: 44 to 39 interceptions lost per game: 41 to 54 turnovers lost per game: 39 to 46 turnover margin per game: 26 to 28
  11. We are the better team on paper, based on what I look at (which doesn't include penalty yardage, to be fair). My concern would be that the Gophers have their ground game figured out now...because they certainly hadn't through several games this season. Turnovers have been an even bigger problem for them than for us but I'm not confident we can take advantage of their young QB. Home field is worth some points and then I'm sure we've already been discussing what the (Vegas) line means enough already...
  12. Pardon the slight "necro" but you're not giving it (his leading the team many have called the greatest ever in college football) any respect by calling him (the person many consider the greatest Husker ever) names. If you really think you can sum up what he gave the program as "what he did as a 21 year old," you clearly don't know your team's history.
  13. How's that super random? It's just not a good idea to go back there. As ugly as the current season has been, at least the fans largely seem to be supporting the program.
  14. I like 2016 all right from the picture ITT but these are mostly poor. I get that it's all about what the kids like, though. I'm not going to complain. We haven't had mirror helmets yet and that's something...
  15. Here's a link to an old thread on stats for UCF last season (to extend the period over which Chinander's relative statistical successes may be considered): https://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/85357-ucf-statistical-rankings/&tab=comments#comment-1947318
  16. It's definitely fair to speculate given Notre Dame isn't listed, for example. I may write the webmaster and see what's what.
  17. In looking at things again a little more closely, I'm confused why Army is listed in here. They're independent? New Mexico State is another. I will fix things up next week if I still can't trust cfbstats.com.

  20. Now that all conference teams have played at least a couple of conference games, I switched to my conference-games-only spreadsheets to share the following... 1. 21. You parrot that stats don't matter and then laud the BCS for having "trust in the impartial computers"? Plenty of football players know about math, too, and it's not like this is quantum mechanics. It's pretty much Statistics 101 fodder.
  22. We can still bet on the rest of the college football games. I like to know how our performances are measuring up relative to those of our neighbors and rivals, too. As for the playoff we have, you seem pretty certain Notre Dame won't win out...
  23. I haven't read anything from the WWL in awhile. It would seem that's for the best.
  24. That's not a bad idea. We can only measure how special a team was relative to the teams that were playing in the same seasons, of course. I'm not sure I can find a database that already takes out the cupcake games then... When I've done this kind of thing, it has generally been to compare Husker teams in the past.
