  1. We would say that. Wisconsin-Minnesota is a great rivalry. Oldest in history. I am not convinced the rest of the conference would consider Nebraska-Oklahoma as on the same level. Maybe over time, if the games developed significance. Michigan and tOSU are playing for the Conference Champ (sort of) and both are in the playoff discussion...The Game has that kind of significance more often than not. The schools really hate each other. That's what makes it great. Nebraska wants Oklahoma, so schedule them in non-con. Easy. The Big Ten Conference doesn't care.
  2. It's way more fun to run for a yard, chuck the ball down field a few times and then punt for -2 yards...this is Big Ten football. It always has been this way. Michigan and tOSU hate each other. There are so many traditions around this game that we will never understand. This is it. The best rivalry in college football. Enjoy the game.
  3. The problem is bigger than what we are willing to admit.
  4. I think I have read every excuse possible. To sum up, the officials had it in for us, we were injured, our mobile QB wasn't able to be mobile, we are better than every opponent we play. Sorry, none of that is true. Every team has injuries. The successful ones have the next man in step up. TA played because he was the best option we had. Period. That's it. We aren't "Better than Iowa" the scoreboard and stats proved that. We want to be, we really want to be, but the reality is that we are better than Illinois, Purdue, Rutgers, Maryland...that's where our program is.
  5. What we used to be was a premier program, with cutting edge strength conditioning and facilities. In an era when we were on TV a LOT when there were fewer TV outlets and options. What we are is a program with terrific fans and excellent facilities and game day atmosphere...the problem is many other programs have caught up in the facilities arms race. Every game is on TV now. We lost our inherent "edge." I really think it is that simple. We need to find that again. I agree that power football is who we should be. Who we are is a middle of the pack program in the national perspective. That's probably wrong. Top 20-35 program consistently.
  6. I guaranty that no other program in the conference is saying that they don't want to play for a conference championship. Or saying that they only want to play in the CCG if they can draw a perceived lesser team (presumably don't want to play and lose kind of thinking). Nope. Everyone else wants to get a shot. One game, for the trophy. I doubt Wisconsin is saying, boy we really hope tOSU wins or PSU or whatever. They want to beat Minnesota today and go to Indy and lace 'em up against whoever shows up on the other sideline. I have never met anyone who gets excited about a lesser bowl, or worries about a matchup against some 6 win FCS school so that their team can "win" an exhibition game. Bowls mean exposure, extra practice time and a nice trip and some swag for the players. A few bowls have significance...the rest not so much. GBR!
  7. Or he could be referencing the junior college transfer market (or even the graduate transfer market if applicable) and not being snide at all. That was my interpretation.
  8. Since 1999, Wisconsin has four conference titles, two Rose Bowl wins and five Rose Bowl appearances. What have we done? Nothing. I think Wisconsin beat a #1 ranked OSU team in there as well, on a big stage. Pretty sure we all remember what they have done to us. How is it that we can say that we are better than they are, have more talent, whatever??? They lost 59-0 to OSU in the championship game and went back to beat a good Auburn team in their bowl. I am tired of talking about the past, what we once were. This in now and I am afraid we might just be exactly what we have seen for sixteen years. 8-10 wins, lose to good teams, that is who we seem to be. We had a huge opportunity with the scheduling this year and blew it. Plain and simple. When the schedule comes around and we play Michigan, OSU and PSU...look out. It won't be pretty unless we change something, philosophy, game plan, recruiting, maybe all of it.
  9. This. We haven't won a thing since 1999. Iowa did win the Big Ten in 2002 and 2004 so...
  10. Since 1999 we have zero championships. At what point does the recent body of work define who we ARE, not who we were.
  11. Iowa goes for two 4th down conversions against Nebraska and gets them both in the 4th quarter. That is more embarrassing to me than the score. The blackshirts should have to wear pink halter tops.
  12. That's the spirit! Iowa 8-72 penalties today. We have 5-38. I don't think the refs are calling a bad game.
  13. Still leading in first downs. TOP is now in Iowa's favor, but we had a solid advantage there most of the game. Im sorry but TOP and more first downs is definitely trumped by a 23 point lead. It was sarcasm. Trying to stay positive.
  14. Iowa has more penalties against it than Nebraska, so there's that...Agree with your assessment.
  15. Still leading in first downs. TOP is now in Iowa's favor, but we had a solid advantage there most of the game.
  16. Isn't there still 10 minutes left? plus that roadside standing and cheering we talk about.
  17. Sad that the only trophy we will win this year can't be found.
  18. That is NOT the start to the 4th quarter we needed.
  19. Wait, this is Iowa? Their jerseys remind me of Colorado.
  20. Wisky and Iowa, look like NU of old. Play the same "style" of football and we can't beat them. Recruit the same areas, have the same recruiting obstacles and still beat us.......The answer? Get back to being NU.....Its really that simple.... I said this weeks ago and got blasted for it, but it is very true. Alvarez has never hidden the fact that he modeled the Badger program after Devaney's Huskers. They have been better at being us than we have lately.
  21. In a normal game yes, but when you are playing a MR coached team with Langs calling the plays, and an injured TA at QB, it doesn't matter. The thinking was that three TDs with 2-point conversions ties the game at 27. If Iowa got the 2 there, it would be a 4-score lead. Won't matter today, but that's why
  22. You want a cookie? Gotta start by winning our conference. I'd like to see that.
  23. Reilly falling and King looking back and making a play on the ball? No. not PI.
