  1. "Probably not"?!?! How about, "Hell f'ing no!" Jesus, this guy went into the 2015 season thinking 5-7 was a real possibility. Nebraska is going to go anywhere until Charmin pulls his head out of his ass, starts benching malcontents, and shifts to a power-run offense that relies on the run to setup the pass, not the other way around. Nebraska doesn't have a ton of depth. A 5-7 season for a team with very little depth is ALWAYS a possibility if key players get hurt. Teams with little depth are similar to NFL teams. Look what's happened to the Patriots since Gronkowski got injured. Nebraska's depth is as good or better than almost every team in the conference. MSU had 3 true freshmen playing DB a lot of this year. People are flat wrong if they think NU wasn't talented enough to continue winning 9 or 10 games, at least, per year. If the players would have bought in before Michigan St, we likely would have won 10. It was a transition year ya know. Okay, which games did they buy in for...which games did they not buy in? Every game before Michigan St. Did you see any effort against Purdue, no me neither

  3. Why would he make changes? We aren't going to fire him after one year so why should he fire any assistants after one year? The defense and secondary was a complete mess for most of the year, and a lot of people thought the coaching staff did a pretty poor job with the team overall. Those people would be mostly wrong, but that's ok..
  4. Doing that didnt work well for the last guy. Thankfully Bo's focus on making good students is helping this coach get to a bowl game on 5 wins. Maybe MR should split his $150,000 bonus with Bo since that's the reason we qualify. They can say what ever they want about why BP was fired, he was fired because of the way he acted on the sideline, towards his bosses, towards the fan base and media. I was fine with his coaching and was very happy with the academic standards he set as a HC, but that type of personality is exhausting. If you have neve worked with or for someone like that you will never know. I have had a boss like that, it was like walking on egg shells all the time. One minute he was great and the next he would blow up about some stupid insignificant thing. If BP would have won 70+% of his games and had that type of academic record and a better additude about things, he would still be at Nebraska. He doesn't have to be the nicest guy in the world, he just needs to not be a big dick. We had a nice winner with Frank and ran him out of town, too. Nebraska fans need to fix themselves. Nebraska fans, even the ones on the internet, aren't the problem (and I know you know that). Incompetent, egotistic leadership is the problem NU suffers from during this dark period in NU football. Prickman made the two bad AD hires, both of whom followed their egos and fired 9+ win coaches. I agree that far too many NU fans posess a 'win at all cost' attitude, and support those dumb decisions. They really don't understand the unique situation of NU football, which causes them to support empty boasting and promises, as history repeats itself. Until Prickman, and his egotistical boy Ickyhorst are gone, this is the type of threads internet NU football forums will be subjected to. Also, it is sad reading all of the misinformation and rumors put out by SPEM getting repeated all over again, as if they were true. In fact, I'm starting to believe some of his former minions post here just to repeat that crap. Or, maybe Ickyhorst hired them. There are some truths laced into this post here but, but Bo Pelini's firing was not only about egos. I believe the majority of Husker fans support Pelini's firing, not only for the plateau which seemed to have been reached, but also because of his very poor sideline behavior and behind the scenes attitude. The graduation rates and relatively low off-the-field problems were commendable and appreciated by many, but you're ultimately judged on how you win and how you carry yourself. Husker fans are not "dumb" for wanting something else - they just disagree with you. Lastly, we're always going to have threads like this. We had them during Bo's tenure and we probably would've had them in Solich's had this board existed back then. Expectation discussions are about as common here as tornadoes on the Oklahoma plains. They'll continue to happen until a coach finally wins a conference title here again or better. My first foray into Husker message boards was late 2003/2004. This year is like deja vu with the Solich/Callahan change. edit for taste
  5. No assistant's will go anywhere unless they are offered a better job.
  6. Next season the goal will be to have a bowl outside of Florida or California Next season, the goal should be to actually deserve a bowl. Not steal a "win" on a horrifically bad call and then get a bid to a bowl game out of pity. Fact is, we do NOT deserve a bowl this year. We should be more ashamed than excited. Next up: participation trophies and orange slices...count me out. Missouri is the only team with enough class to say thanks but no thanks. your not a player or a coach so drop the "we" sh#t. this team didn't beg to get a bowl game but as things are they did. Ucla got the same treatment a few years back. Extra practice time wont hurt. Neither are you, that said, as a fan, I use "we" generically to describe the fan base. You know the same people who are tripping all over themselves after "beating" MSU and "deserving" a bowl game. The difference between you and I, is that I am intellectually honest about the state of our program and don't typically flame other posters. This post is self defense. We do not deserve a bowl game. Not even close. But, after UCLA beats the crap out of "The Huskers" (note, I didn't say us)...I will have the last laugh. That will officially be rock bottom. We should not play in this game. But whatever, put on your rose-colored glasses and enjoy the well-deserved game, and carry on. GBR. [edit] Sorry, I also think we should run, not walk, back to the Big Twelve. I don't think we will ever fit in in the B1G. We just don't get the respect we deserve. [Oops, used we again, please replace with Nebraska] Why would Nebraska want to go back to the B12, ESPN said today that the B10 was the best conference in football this year. The B12 is damn lucky to even get a team in the playoffs.
  7. Its a great matchup of 2 name teams. Good for TV and should bring in some fans that want to spend Christmas in California. I like it.
  8. It takes a big stick to beat back all the husker haters on this board. But it is my calling.
  9. No, they didn't. That lie has been debunked numerous times on this board. That Purdue loss was a blowout, 42 to 16 in the 33rd. Does 5 and 7 sting you? It does me. no it doesn't, this was a throw away year. This is an embarrassing mindset. Riley and Eichorst said they were here to win, and that we had the players to win championships. No, the embarrassing mindset is calling for a coach to be fired after 3 games, it was said by many here and has continued. That is an embarrassment to husker fans everywhere. Former players and coaches under Osborne scoff at it.

It does me. no it doesn't, this was a throw away year.Billy C. Agrees with you. Throw away year, throw away staff. Seems fitting. We'd better get used to it, since we're saddled with this staff for another year or two. Maybe 7 or more with any luck.
  11. No, they didn't. That lie has been debunked numerous times on this board. That Purdue loss was a blowout, 42 to 16 in the 33rd. Does 5 and 7 sting you? It does me. no it doesn't, this was a throw away year. That is a losers point of view...IF that is true...Loser Riley should have come right out and and said that K
  12. you don't have to be, its a free country, you can be a fan of Wisconsin or San Jose St.

  14. Yeah, that #30ish rated class is a huge upgrade. It only matters what it is ranked in February, you should know that.
  15. Not hardly! So...what was? 28-7 loss to TCU in 1951 NIce! Was that to a team that finished with less than 4 wins? I am assuming it was. Yes, we started the season ranked 12 and finished with 2 wins... worst loss in 100 years, Purdue not even close.
  16. Is that really any worse than a run getting stuffed at the line of scrimmage on 3rd and short?YesBS.There are screams coming from virtually every direction.....fans and media......for Riley's offense to establish the running game, especially on short distance 3rd downs. Why would you want to do the smart thing and run on 3rd or 4th and 1 when you can hurl a 30-40 yd fade route down the field instead? I just watched Alabama convert a 4th and 2 with a roll out play action pass to the flats. Play calling wasn't the issue vs. Iowa. Tommy had Cethan Carter (TE) wide open on the play. Tommy's lack of vision and ability to check down prevented us from converting on that 4th down. He just made a terrible decision and everyone knows it. A good offensive coordinator knows how to put an offense in position to succeed. I wonder if ANY play we needed a yard or two if Cross or Jano would have been a more viable option than ANY pass play? Not with the offensive line we had. That's because the coaches prefer pass protection. Jerald Foster is our best run blocking O-lineman, and he didn't sniff the field. No, they prefer well rounded players that can do it all,not just run block. Foster will see the field next fall though. They prefer guys who are better at pass blocking over run blocking. They also don't rotate because that's their philosophy from their NFL days, not because of any supposed lack of talent.Uncle Milt didn't rotate either. He subbed not anymore than Cav. More players played because we won by bigger margins and the second, third and sometimes the forth string played.

  18. We were 2nd btw. Maybe the players aren't as bad as you keep saying... Or maybe the coaching they are getting is pretty damn good and far better than you are giving them credit for. After all, they failed to put their players in position to succeed all season long. Right!

  20. Even with all of Tommy's screw-ups, Nebraska finished at the top of the B10 in offense, I guess all the other coaches did not put their players in a position to succeed. I guess they all suck.
  21. Foster Farms Bowl, here we come.
