  1. smart call for the Gophers... Now please for the love of GOD RUN THE BALL
  2. the only good thing is Minnesota is doing a better job of killing the clock than Nebraska.
  3. IF we get a stop here, you guys think we run the ball next possession?
  4. my guess is they do some sort of 5 yard slant to the middle
  5. c'mon Nebraska do not blow this...seriously...it just cant happen.
  6. I am getting sick here. GBR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. so Minny starts to get momentum, our history of blowing close games and we come out and pass every down...............................??? No time went off the clock, no Gophers have ball only down two possesions and basically the entire quarter left.
  8. It would be absolutely ridiculous....I cant fathom them blowing this game, but I cant stop thinking it will happen.
  9. if we hold on and win, then we know progress has been made over the last month of heart ache and failing to close out games... defense has unneccessarily let minnesota back into this.
  10. how can Miinnesota fans seriously question Jerry Kill...He has brought their program into relevance.
  11. Thank for finding that.... Yeah no surprise Nebraska is difficult to recruit to, it's why decades ago NU was smart and built the mecca of facilities. The rest of the country caught on and caught up. The article almost makes it sound like Nebraska needs to go back to the Big12. Huskers just need to wreck some havoc within the B1G, create some rift within the conference and build new rivalries.. Interesting thing of note, that no one seems to mention with nebraska's slight decline in football dominance is how much of a hit we may have taken moving to the B1G and how long it will take to start cutting into these recruiting pipelines and states that have been owned by other B1G schools for decades.
  12. I think the Texas Tech game where we lost to them at home should be on there...I remember we had sealed the deal with an INT i blieve, and our defender tried to return it, fumbles it and Tech gets ball back and scores to win the game. It was 2005. Also where is the Va Tech game at VT?
  13. I dont see Briles being wanted by USC. USC coming off sanctions and Briles character seems a bit questionable, I just don't see this happening. Sumlin is a good choice, but not sure he wants to go to USC?
  14. Win these next 3 and we are suddenly 5-4 with some momentum heading into MSU week. But one game at a time.
  15. For all those thinking it is time to go back to the 1990s and run, run, run...look at Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets can't even get it going against the ACC, one of the worst conferences in college football. I agree, I'd like to see more running, or at least consistency in our run game, but to go back to nothing but run, it just wouldn't work.
  16. Is Gangwish a captain? If he isn't it would be nice if the coaches did make him one. Dude is a true Husker. I really feel this weekend will be the turning corner..a win vs Minnesota would be a huge and a good chance to get momentum going. I don't want to keep bringing up the past, because it has been mentioned so many times before. But, with Bo this team may be 4-2 or even 5-1...( I dont see this group coming back at all against Miami), but would it really be a 5-1 team we were confident about? No I don't think so. I think it is a 5-1 team like we have had in the past, where we knew the inevitable loss in a big game was coming. With this staff, the loses have been so close, that the next big game, IE Northwestern and Michigan State, I feel like Nebraska could win them, and it will be a close game regardless of a win or lose. I am in no way about moral victories, but if you look at how this team has played under this staff they've actually played better over the long haul. Somehow as oddly as it sounds, i feel better about this 2-4 Riley team than a 5-1 Pelini team. My gut tells me things start clicking this week vs Minnesota. The Gophers are in no way a measuring stick or great this year, but we all know they are well coached and have gotten us the past two years. This will be a great game.
  17. If Riley can get his QB here it will do wonders. Hopefully O'Brien is that QB. MR has produced some good NFL talent QBs and those QBs did even better in college. I anxiously await his QB to arrive on scene. Once we get the QB, we will get the WRs. Build a line around the QB and a RB is certain to come. I agree, smash mouth football is Nebraska's DNA. But given the right pieces this could work. No matter what, we just need a strong big line. Lets invade the recruiting grounds Wisconsin goes for to get their Oline.
  18. oh no it's another thread about Mike Riley.. As you all probably know by now, with my short post count probably 96% of them are bashing Riley, the other 4% is where I randomly asked a question about Gameday being in Lincoln. I have been anti Riley since day one of the announcement, never thought it would work out, the gasoline continued to be poured into my belief with each loss this season.........I live in Oregon and have seen Riley first hand with Oregon State, and know many people who are die hard beaver fans. I even know a few who know Riley pretty well..Nonetheless, I wish I could have them relay the message to Riley that he is far over his head here in Lincoln.. But you know what. Screw me. The press conferences that came out today, I, one of Riley's biggest doubters and one to lead the mutiny, was inspired. That was awesome. The players, Riley himself, I could see it in their eyes that these guys want it, and they want to turn it around. There might be locker room divide, but those who spoke today are the ones all in on Nebraska and believe in what they are doing. I am thoroughly impressed with Riley's handling of this debacle of a season. This really is hard on anyone. I cant think of a better way for Riley to earn respect around here then to overcome this heart wrenching start to his new career and finish strong. My goodness what a good story. And after today, I fully believe Riley can overcome this and this team/program can exit the fire and really really build from this. Seriously, what better way for a program to mold and move into a better direction then to face the adversity they are facing right now. I am ashamed of myself for how I have had perspective on this team and coaches. Give them a shot, I really think these guys are just one game away from breaking the barrier and doing something special. This could end up being a special season after all. and if Nebraska can somehow scrape out a bowl game, what great momentum going into next year. I am sorry for making yet another thread about this, but I had to get this off my chest. GO BIG RED!
  19. Here is a what if. If Steve Spurrier suddenly upts and retires during mid season, what if Riley retires at the end of the season?
  20. Honest question and I am not trying to be a smartass. Other than being a former Husker QB, what makes Frost qualified to be a HC here? I thought that the complaint was that we needed a big "splash" hire and Scott is not it. He's not Harbaugh who wins everywhere he goes in which UM was lucky enough that SF was stupid enough to fire him or they would be in the same shape as we are in. If anything Frost's warts are showing now that he doesn't have a Heisman winning QB when it comes to being an OC. The sad truth is that nobody in the TO coaching tree has turned out to be good enough to be the HC at NU. Frost may get there one day, but let him continue to learn at another school. The program was already hurt twice because of TO hiring guys who had no HC experience at the D1 level and as a program we are better than that. I just like everyone on here would have loved TO to have groomed someone (or if he did, Frank didn't listen very closely) to take his place and kept the program where it was at, but that didn't happen. Now we are left with this and it sucks for all of us. And don't take this as saying that Riley is the answer either, all I know is that he is here and he needs time to fix the mess that Bo left us in. He wasn't one of my top guys to hire either, but wishing for another former husker to cut his teeth at NU is not the answer and it is going to keep us right where we are at with no hope of winning anything meaningful. Thinking of a young coach who will be ready in a few years. And although may not be fully ready when given the reigns, can mold into a good head coach. Also, at this point in time, a Nebraska guy might be the only type of person willing to take the Nebraska job. Other than Frost, I don't know what other coach wants to come here, especially after what is going on right now.
