  1. This post is not a smart post.
  2. I honestly hope that recruits don't read this stupid board.
  3. Whoa, that was a highly intelligent and informed post. Are you sure you're in the right message board? LOL
  4. It's hard to field a team with only 42 players though. I agree, it would have been great to "fire" every Pelini recruit and start from scratch, but the numbers simply didn't allow it. Even so, I do agree that Riley wasted far too much time catering to those guys. Hell, he continued with Armstrong as starting QB despite his horrible attitude; however, given that we had no other QB's available, it was what it was I suppose.
  5. Yes, it always takes the next coach years to undo the damage from the last coach. That's Husker tradition!
  6. So, who do you think the next experiment will be? Judging from the righteous outrage of this message board, it must be a former Husker player. We're looking for a savior here. Do you think that Riley's recruits will happily see him fired and just continue playing for the next coach? Or will they sulk and whine like Pelini's boys did after he was fired? The downward spiral continues . . .
  7. He has another year and a half, so we'll see. He has come a long way this year and does have a terrific arm.
  8. LOL, it comes out! Reading these posts I've assumed for some while that the Pelini scourge still infects many vocal Husker fans.
  9. Well, you sure told me a thing or two. Sorry for my contrary opinions and positive outlook.
  10. The Huskers lost to a much better team with much better talent. All Whiskey had to do was run the ball. It wasn't coaching brilliance; it was consistent talent. Go ahead, I don't care. It's your misery.
  11. ABSOLUTELY. It took Tom Osborne 20 years to field a championship team, even after he inherited a national championship squad and all staff from his predecessor. Think about that. People wanted to fire TO for 20 years, and that was in the era when there were just a handful of top team dominating the scene. T.O. had it easy, and it took him 20 years. That's the magic of consistency.
  12. Is he the bogeyman of the week? I'd point straight at receivers with wooden hands. They cost NU a bunch of points tonight. Do you think firing Riley and hiring somebody with no reputation outside Nebraska like Frost will get us decent receivers? It ain't ever gonna happen. Frost is just a Pelini substitute, but with more class. Tell me all about how Frost's senior recruiting classes have done. Wait, you can't, because he's been using the recruits of other coaches. Think about that.
  13. It seems to be the Nebraska Way these days. Not my zoo, not my monkeys. Have at it. I'm sure your way will work. LOL
  14. Guess what? Wisconsin has a great football team and will probably be undefeated during the regular season. Get over it. Anger is the hillbilly solution to all problems. It actually doesn't work in real life.
  15. Okay, let's hire the Iowa State coach. He must be truly excellent! LOL
  16. Your "lack of acceptance" is exactly the reason we are now in a state of perpetual rebuilding. The only parameters for a head coach should be quality of hiring staff and acquiring recruits. The idea of a Fearless Leader that somehow makes diamonds out of coal simply doesn't work. It's all about the athletes on the field.
  17. Exactly my point. We are essentially now playing with only 2 years of athletes recruited by staff. You seem to have forgotten about how horrible Pelini's recruits have turned out. This is a VERY young team. For pete's sake, let them develop a team.
  18. Great. So let's fire another coach, sacrifice 4 more years, fire a coach, rinse, repeat. Great idea. What could go wrong? LOL
  19. It's all about the talent on the field. If you think that firing Riley will somehow attract recruits, you deserve everything you get. No decent talent will go to such an unstable program that is driven by message board idiots. Frost = Solich.
  20. I also think that we have perhaps the worst receiving corps in the Big 10; our best receivers are the youngest ones. Let this staff find some decent players, for god's sake. The veterans fairly suck across the board. Spielman the freshman is by far the best one out there.
  21. Yes, another "brilliant" idea from a forum poster guy. Great idea. Let's fire this coach and hire some other guy that's a former Husker player to send recruiting back into yet another tailspin. I've said it before, and I'll say it again . . . it's all about recruiting. We need consistency in our program to reliably recruit the best players. This game tonight only illustrated that Whiskey had the best offensive linemen in the Big 10. Our new defensive alignment didn't have the beef yet to compete. They might if we keep our coaching staff in place, but dumb Husker fans are like corporate shareholders. They only look at short term gains and don't plan for the long term. Given the intellect of the most vocal Husker fans, I predict yet another s#!tstorm and another firing on our road to eventual Iowa State status by 2020.
  22. This message board exists in its own little universe, and Riley will not be fired. Sorry, Pelini fans.
  23. He was hired because he used to play at NU. Period. You'd be amazed at how many on this board think that's the single qualifier.
