I look at the top 10 every year, near the end of the year and it's always filled with Nike schools. Even now. Tennessee switched from Adidas to Nike I believe in either 2015/2016. Is it time for Nebraska to join the club and become a Nike school? Adidas makes up 28% of CFB teams while Nike is well over 50% and Under Armour is a distant 3rd. I know, I know, apparel brand is the least of this programs problems but isn't it time to move on to Air Jordan or Nike? Considering how our NIL brand is and will be solid in the years to come, along with the new facility, and soon reconstruction of Memorial, a brand change could be necessary. In order to hire a successful coach and staff, I also believe that Nike swoop logo is more lucrative for NIL, recruits, and our present student athletes in the long run. Is it still too late for Suh to build a NIKE Town in Lincoln? This is something that is overlooked and we have to get with it. I think young athletes today have a preference when it comes to apparel.

I think a cinderella season is possible considering in a few years the playoffs will come to 12 teams. You think Neb would have not have a shot at it by pulling off an upset in the conf championship game finishing 11-2? I think its possible. It’s gonna take the right head coach and staff to pull it off.

I’m not ready to write MJ off just yet like some others but Matt Campbell would be able to coach up these players and develop them. This is what we need. People forget TO had some good assistants who he wanted paid well. It was important to him that they got paid well. We need this again. Quality assistants that are proven.

I think Campbell is a better coach. Has gotten better players in the NFL than Rhule. Has more quality wins. Did Rhule and Baylor ever beat #3 Oklahoma? No. Rhule is 47-43 in his career as a coach. He also coached Baylor to a 1-11 record. You willing to see that at Nebraska? No way he is even in Trev’ top 5.

I’d agree with you if it’s late November and we still don’t have any progress. It’ll be here quickly. Behind the scenes we can only hope Trev is moving swiftly and using time to his advantage.

Out of every person’s list only one coach has shown interest in Nebraska in the past and that’s Matt Campbell. If you want detail oriented, player development, defensive minded, he is our guy. But we need to take what Urban said with seriousness. We need to go back to what made us an epicenter of player development. It all starts up front on both sides of the ball. We don’t know 100% if Urban has interest or not. We’re either going to get a coach on the up and up or a fired HC. Based on who is trending up and down, I see no reason why to go after someone who was recently fired. I don’t understand the obsession with Matt Rhule. Did he beat any top CFB teams at Baylor? He hasn’t done anything at Carolina. To me he’s another Bill Callahan. The next coach needs to be someone who is a master at fundamentals, a motivator, and player developer. And we need to surround him with a huge financial pool to use for assistants.

Yes, legit against defensive reserves. Come on now.

At this point I’d rather see us pay Deion Sanders $15 mil a year to get the Jimmy’s and Joes in here ASAP.

Then we put in someone else. If we have players with that kind of mentality on the field they can take their asses home then!

I didn’t expect things to immediately turn around with HCMJ and it’s not all him. He’s got a bad deal. Terrible OL coach. Terrible OC. No creativity to counter their stunting and blitzes. Really? Defensive line is getting beat AGAIN for the 4th week in a row. Linebackers are gassed and can’t tackle. Mickey has a bad DL, LBs and DC. All a bad recipe. We will be lucky to win 2 more games this year.

We need more than that. Our corners are not very good. Once again Gifford is a liability at nickel back he consistently gets beat in coverage and takes bad angles while tackling and misses. Reimer is slow as well and is tackling poorly.

Our OL is terrible. Raiola was a bad hire. We need a mobile QB that can take off instead of eating sacks. If we could set up screens that would be nice. The OU defense is getting aggressive and for good reason.

This game is going to come down to turnovers and field position. Two departments that we struggle in. There’s hope that maybe we come out with high energy and shock them. If that’s the case we could win 31-24. We need a few big breaks here and there. It is definitely possible. But our DL scares me. Our gap assignment scares me. If we play defense like we did in the first two weeks we’ll lose 45-21.

Running the ball, option football, play action, and aggressive man to man defense is what most Nebraskans identify with. In the past it was unique because we were doing it with the most athletic players. A spread option would be ideal. People think of the 90’s and immediately they think running the ball and option. They forget we had a top 5 defense too. Masters at fundamentals. Relentless pass rush, great tackling. The game has changed since then now more teams want to run spread no huddle. I still think being the most physical team is the best mentality to have. Wearing out opponents still happens. It’s something we have to bring back again. And something our fans certainly identify with. We have got to go out and get the absolute best offensive and defensive linemen we can find for starters. Everything starts up front. Something Frost never grasped.

I think Mickey is convincing Chins to get rid of the bend but don’t break scheme. Obviously he’s already consulted with his brother Vance. He already knows we’re not gap smart. We’re not tackling well. He knows it’s going to take reps and hammering your craft until it becomes muscle memory.

Let’s face it. He can look awesome in front of reporters and answers questions in all the right ways. And to quote Bo, “At the end of the day…” it’s always going to come down to the Win-Loss column. If he leads this team to a bowl game, he makes a strong case to be the head coach because he proved himself. Anyone else is an uncertainty at that point. Bo did the same in 2003. Granted it was one game, but think of what could have been had we hired him right then and there. It’s tough because Mickey is a fantastic recruiter. And this is the opportunity he’s been waiting for. I can only hope he makes the best of it and we have more wins than losses during this 9 game stretch.

I know a lot of people want Urban Meyer because he’s a proven big time coach. Others have other coaches in mind. I’m a realist and I’m taking a realistic approach here. If I had to wager, I’d be willing to put money that Matt Campbell ends up becoming our next head coach. Is he the sexiest name? No. BUT, he is a detail oriented, process oriented, fundamentals type of coach. High character. That’s exactly what Nebraska and Trev is looking for. The resources we offer, and the talent we can get, I think he could very well consistently get us to 9 wins or more a year. Surround him with stellar assistants, and it could take off. His record at Toledo and ISU speaks for itself and he’s done more with less. If not us, somebody is going to hire that man soon.

If he didn’t, I don’t think he would’ve agreed to the title of Associate Head Coach when he was first hired.

Linebackers blitzed the thing is they never hit home so if you’re gonna blitz it’s gotta get there quickly. Combine that with non existent pass rushers and linebackers who fill the wrong gaps, you end up with 640+ yards and 45 points. We should not rely on our corners and safeties so much to blitz and make open field tackles 10 yards down field. Ruud is a terrible coach of linebackers and so is Dawson along with whatever he teaches on the DL. I’m not sure Mickey is willing to make the changes where a lot of us can see obvious deficiencies on the staff. Mainly DL, LB’s and the DC himself.

Watch us hire Urban only for him to pull a Lane Kiffin when ND fires Freeman after one season.

Makes sense today he just got the job tomorrow is game prep. He’s probably surprised if not more than a majority of the fans.

Yeah the OU game probably got a little more personal for MJ.

I think that was a foregone conclusion. This is his opportunity.
