Let us hope this team comes out hungry and ready to play. The past two games have been horrible football. Air Force beat Colorado in Colorado and south Alabama got their asses handed to them by an unranked Memphis team. When was the last time we beat an opponent by more than four touchdowns?

What run game are we talking about?? Do we have any? I mean Air Force just beat Colorado in Colorado. What does that say about us? We went away from smash mouth football running the ball down opponents throats. Until we regain that, we will not dominate or beat any team with a pulse.

If we do not start showing that the Frost system is working, a lot of fans and sponsors will start questioning his hire. I wholeheartedly believe that Frost wants to win and wants to bring the huskers back, there is zero doubt about that. I fully support him and know in my heart that his intentions are genuine. However, I also think that he underestimated how hard this will be. It took Wisconsin years to become what they are now and they followed the Husker recipe from the 90s. The problem is that we abandoned that recipe for 18 years now and think we can win by letting the ball fly. We need to get back to basic smash mouth football running the ball down opponents throats. We do not have that with this team and that is why I believe it will be a very long and disappointing season.

First, I want to point out that being critical of your team’s performance and wanting them to play smarter and with more passion doesn’t make you a troll or a band wagon fan as some posters pointed out. To be honest, I am disappointed that someone would just flat out accuse other fans of being trolls or not real fans. Now, I have a simple question that I would like an answer for. Is it harder to recruit players to Nebraska or Wisconsin? We out-recruited Wisconsin yet we continue to lose to them and they continue to play like the Husker teams of the 90s whereas we continue to play undisciplined inconsistent football. Wisconsin had coaching changes and their new coach was able to keep the team winning as if there were no coaching change. We, on the other hand, continue to make excuses and convince ourselves that it is a rebuilding year. When is this rebuilding going to be done? It does not seem like our players are playing to their full potential. I am hoping that the season will get better as I love my Huskers and want them to get back to where people fear us when they play us rather than seeing us as a welcomed opportunity. If this team has really turned the corner and the Colorado game was an unfortunate loss then they should come out this Saturday hungry to kick some northern Illinois butt. And we should run them out of the building. If we struggle to beat them or we lose to them then that is an indication that we are not turning any corner anytime soon.

Yes, beating NIU is what a good Husker team needs to do without breaking a sweat. We should not be struggling against teams like south Alabama and Colorado. At this point, we need to be competing with Wisconsin and Ohio state. Worrying about beating NIU should not even be a question given all the hype and support this team has got. Nevertheless, I have a feeling that we will once again struggle against a team like NIU and I hope we win because if we don’t, it will get ugly very quickly.
