  1. Any average soccer goalie can do a much better job than Lightbourn. For the love of God, doesn’t Lincoln have high school soccer teams. Just recruit a decent goalie who can kick the ball. I practice with my students for fun and I can kick the ball into the end zone with no issues. That whiffed kick turned the momentum in favor of Ohio State along with the blocked punt which highlights what a disaster our unspecial teams are. To be honest, every time our special teams take the field, I pray to God that they do not do something disastrous. Forget making a positive play, just do not do anything that helps the opposing team. That is not good if we are wanting our team to win out the rest of the games this season.
  2. I am hoping that our UNSPECIAL teams are watching the Northwestern SPECIAL teams do what special teams are designed to do. I can only hope that one day we will actually be able to block a punt. Actually, I will settle for us even try to go after a punt. We do not even try. And that is ENTIRLEY on the unspecial teams coach.
  3. I am sorry but I am having a very difficult time believeing that Frost asked Lightbourn to onside kick the ball. He is just trying cover for his kicker’s horrible blunder which will be highlighted in ESPN’s not so top 10 plays. Asking Lightbourn to execute an onside kick is like asking a seven year old to dunk a basketball.
  4. The difference between good football teams and great football teams are the special teams. I hope the Huskers one day develop decent special teams. Right now, we have as unspecial teams as they can be.
  5. I really understand people being frustrated about us losing this game. It is frustrating indeed coming so close and then falling short. However, I am extremely pleased by how far this team has come in such a short period. Five weeks ago, I was thinking that Ohio state would hang 70 on us. So, I was extremely pleased to see that we were competitive throughout the game and had a few chances to win it. We created three turnovers and held them below their average yardage at their own home. The biggest frustrtation is knowing that if we only got decent play from our unspecial teams, we could have easily won this game and everyone who watched this game knows that. I choose to see this as a great win for us and a huge step in the right direction. I am confident we will win the remaining three games in our schedule if we continue to play like today. Who knows, we might even get invited to the toilet bowl. Any bowl at this point will be greatly appreciated.
  6. Saying that our special teams suck is the understatement of the century. In fact, calling them special is an insult to the word. We need to refer to them as our s#!tty unspecial teams until they actually do something special. Don’t even get me started on the useless unspecial teams coach.
  7. What I learned is the following: (1) The future is very bright for the Nebraska Huskers. We have a very young team that continues to improve week after week and we will be very good next year. (2) Our offense can play with anyone in the country (3) Our defense is improving but is still work in progress. We CANNOT DEPEND ON THEM TO WIN A GAME FOR US AND STOP OPPOSING TEAMS WHEN IT MATTERS MOST. (4) The difference in the games comes down to the fact that Ohio State has excellent Special Teams and we have the s#!tTIEST Unspecial teams in all of the universe. I have been saying this for eight weeks now and some wise guys on this board keep making wise comments. Calling our special teams special is an insult to the word. The unspecial teams coach is useless and that is the understatement of the century. If this guy cashes his check this month, he will be stealing from Nebraska. NO TEAM HAS EVER COMPETED FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP WITH A s#!tTY UNSPECIAL TEAMS. Until we fix our special teams play, we will not compete for anything. They cost us this game. We can’t block kicks, we can’t go after punts, we can’t pin teams back...heck, we can’t even KICK A BALL after we score. Having said that, I am very happy with where we are at this time. We competed at a very hard place to play. Our players showed heart. We needed all three phases of the game to klick to win this game and we got two of those happening. Our defense played good enough for us to win. Our offense moved the ball up and down the field very nicely but our unspecial teams did everything they can to lose us the game. I hope we win our last three games and finish on a high note. I am super excited for the future of my Huskers.
  8. All I want is a nice competitive game that comes to the fourth quarter. I hope we win and I will remain optimistic no matter what. If we lose by 10 points or less, it will be a good result. I will still hope for the miracle win. God knows he owes us one this season.
  9. Unless we can pull a rabbit out of the husker hat and win against a VERY ANGRY OHIO STATE AT HOME, I would put this topic to rest and not mention it until we are 5-6 and getting ready to play Iowa for bowl eligibility at IOWA. I am happy if we can pull a few more wins and be competitive in the others. I would call this progress and wait for year two of Frost ball.
  10. I learned that we can beat FCS teams...thank God. However, more importantly, I learned that I would not trade Scott Frost for any other coach in the nation including the annoying Nick Saban. Scott Frost is classy, genuine, and embodies everything that is Nebraska Huskers. I am confident that he will get Nebraska back to competing for championships very soon. I am still not sold on the defense coordinator. BC is not a juggernaut and our defense did give up some real state and some big plays. Ohio state will play angry at home. They will come down on us like an avalanche. Our offense can score, but can this defense stop the buckeyes? I remain very skeptical. Finally, I stand by my earlier statements that Mazour is a very good player and deserves some playing time. He can be as good as Ozigbo and Washington if given a chance.
  11. I have not called for chinander to be fired. Do I think he is doing a good job? No, and I can write that with crayons for you since you brought it up. I did suggest, however, that he might consider moving up to the booth to see if that helps him see the field better and may be help them make better choices in some calls. He deserves at least a couple of years to get the players to learn his scheme. There is no doubt about that. It does seem that Frost is not putty my too much faith in the defense and his play calling is geared towards us scoring as much as possible because he does not trust that our defense can make the stops we need them to make. THAT IS A FACT. While the defense is a work in progress, our special teams are a disaster and have been for a very long time now. They are not showing any signs of life. I can’t remember the last time we returned a punt for a touchdown, blocked a punt, blocked a field goal, caused a turnover. They are not even trying. Most of the time, all they do is the bare minimum not to lose the ball. EVERY good team that competes for championship has good special teams. We don’t. We need a coach that can do a much better job at getting the special teams play perform at a higher level. I do not see that improving with the current coach as he does not seem to be doing anything. Repeating the same exact thing and expecting different results is the definition of stupidity, which defines our special teams play. If you think that Jovan Dewitt is doing a good job then we are not watching the same games.
  12. Oh oh...that definitely ruined by beer buzz..thanks for the horrible nightmarish news.
  13. I really think those chimichangas you are downing are really strong. Take a break. Are you seriously comparing Ohio state’s DC with chinander? Please...Ohio state is 7-1. They had a bad game and Purdue were playing motivated. We were beat by Troy who lost to liberty. Stop defending chinander. Listen very carefully...I AM NOT SAYING THAT WE SHOULD FIRE CHINANDER...but he has a lot of work to prove himself. I suggested that he go to the booth and see if that will help him see the field better, which may improve his play calling. I think he deserves at least a couple of years. However, our special teams are anything but special, and something MUST BE DONE at the end of this year. If that hurts your feelings, ignore my posts and stop replaying to them because you are starting to get on my nerves.
  14. Ohio state is showing weakness. They lost Bose and they seem very slow today. We played Purdue much closer and could have beat them if we did not commit so many crucial penalties. Even if we go 5-7, we still have a very slim chance of going to an insignificant bowl game but that will give us a chance to keep practicing and getting better for next year. Beating Bethune cookman soundly might give this team the confidence they need to compete against Ohio state. The defense needs to play their hearts out next week to get ready for Ohio State.
  15. I am glad we are not playing Ohio state next week. I feel bad for whoever is playing Ohio state next week. They will be sooooo mad. May be they can play this bad against us.
  16. Then again, our defense tends to make opponents look like world beaters.
  17. Watching Purdue manhandle Ohio state gives me hope that there is a 1% chance that we finish the season 6-6 and go bowling. I will pray really hard for that 1%. If that happens, I will give up beer for six months, one month per win.
  18. I learned the following: (1) Our offense has been great enough to win us many of the games we lost this year (2) Our defense is not good enough to win us games yet. I really think that chinander going to the booth might allow him to see the field better and make better calls. (3) We have NO SPECIAL TEAMS WHAT SO EVER. In fact, they are not even trying to do anything special. No great teams have ever been able to win championships without good special teams. We will not become great again until we work on having great special teams. We can sugar coat this all we want, we do not have a good special teams coach and that is plain obvious. (4) When we only commit six penalties and get two turnovers, we win. Imagine that! If we did this in four other games, we would have easily won those games. I can easily see us 5-2 instead of 1-6. It is such a great feeling to win again. I feel happy for Frost and these players and hope that this is the start of something special. Finally, to those who post cussing and belittling other members who criticize some of the coaches, I say, get over yourselves. If we want our beloved Huskers to get back to championship form, we need to have good coaches. Frost is a good coach, chinander is not, at least not yet. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion without having others cussing at them because they stated their opinion. If you don’t like the posts, stop reading and go drink some beer.
  19. Ok, can we at least agree that our unspecial teams coach is utterly useless and not worth the Free Nebraska shirt he is wearing?
  20. For those Chinanderla supporters, LISTEN TO WHAT FROST SAID: “I told the team whatever happens, we need to keep scoring”. Meaning that he has absolutely no confidence that the defense can stop the opponent. This was Minney, not Ohio state. Chinanderla is our weakest link. I am hoping he gets possessed by a real defensive coordinator over the next five games.
  21. If I were Chinanderla, I would ask Frost where he would like his butt kissed...and Frost should say...all over you incompetent coordinator
  22. I would keep running it down their throats and then break the chair again
  23. I would score again just to send a message that we will not be a push over anymore.
