  1. 3-9 is absolutely needed for some fans, like the count. The amount of ego that certain fans tie into the football program is beyond ridiculous. That ego needs a beating. However, it happened before, and it didn't seem to do any good then. So, maybe there's just no hope for certain fans. OTH, I feel bad for the players recruited under the previous HC during a season like this. I totally agree. I feel bad for some of the players that have to endure a down year like this, of course they too attribute to that down year. But some Husker fans need a serious beat down on their entitlement and "holier than thou" mentality. There's actually radio show hosts and fans talking about this game Saturday, saying if we win, no way should we rush the field. "Act like you've been there" they say. "We're better than that"! The hell we are. We aren't better than anybody right now. We are right on par with the same teams that storm the field when they beat us. We haven't been overwhelmingly better than the in a long time. Sure we've won a lot of games, more than we have this year, but I've seen nothing on the field that spreads us from the pack aside from a kid named Ameer Abdullah and Ndamukong Suh if you want to go back further. If we win Saturday, hell yes storm that field students. Enjoy the highs when you can. This should be fun. Stop getting so low with the lows. What good does it do. We'll be back someday. I guarantee it. Thanks to some pouty entitled asshat, I'm sitting in their seat Saturday night. Got em cheap! Me and my daughter will enjoy it I promise! But not based on talent. Fact is, NU has equal talent, at least, to MSU. Now, do we have equal coaching? That's a different question all together. Based off of what? Talent that came in as high schoolers and hasn't progressed? The methodologies that people wanted to point to when they tried to claim Purdue had equal talent to NU. But I generally agree there has been an issue with a lack of progress since January 2015. Come on Bo you're not fooling anyone anymore.......Only since Jan 2015? How many players can you say came into NU in the last 7 years and steadily improved throughout their time. Feel free to leave out the JUCOs as well. Wow. It's not even worth debating this, but here's a few names just from the recent drafts: Abdullah (look at his stats; very average his first two years) Was far from average his freshman and sophomore years Bell one Stanley Jean-Babtiste (converted WR turned NFL DB) on a practice squad as a second rounder after being cut by the original team Spencer Long (walkon turned all american and NFL draftee, despite blown knee) good enough to not get a scholly as well coming out of high school Quincy Enunwa I'll give you this one Burkhead this one too Gomes JUCO Hagg- Wasn't a Pelini recruit Paul- Wasn't a pelini recruit Glenn- Laughing at this one and that's just a small sampling. What in the world does who recruited have to do with what you asked originally? You're obviously a troll. I'm a troll because you can't name 5-6 players in the last 7 years to come in and steadily improve? Yup that makes sense....There's a Youngstown State board that's calling your name somewhere else
  2. Over the years, I've probably posted at least 10 times where Solich left Clownahan in better shape talent wise than Clownahan left Bo in when taking into account the top three rounds of NFL draft status. Solich wasn't the recruiting dud he's been made out here for the last decade and a half. It's easy to see Solich concentrated his recruiting efforts on the defensive side of the ball, but he did recruit some pretty good players. We won't know for a few years just how bad or good of situation Riley inherited from Bo, but the rest is known with regards to the past coaching staffs. The Solich firing is one thing we agree on. It should have never happened. Even if he was removed for off field reasons, I still don't believe he should have been fired. We've played some players who have done considerably worse things than having an extra marital affair. You're serious aren't you?? From '04 to '08, NU had 18 players draft (8 during the first 3 rounds). I think three of those were Callahan recruits, and one of which was a top 3 rounder (Brandon Jackson, who left early). From '08 to '12, NU had 17 players draft (3 during the first 3 rounds). I think two of those were Pelini recruits, and one of which was a top 3 rounder (L. David). I'll never understand why people so easily buy into the myth that Callahan left Bo a full cupboard compared to what Solich left or what Pelini has left. So who are you leaving out between Prince and Suh? They were among the 16 players drafted between '08 and '12 who were recruited by Callahan (and the only other two to go during the first 3 rounds). What aren't you getting about this? #5, #20, #13 - National rankings. To say Callahan didn't recruit well is flat out stupid. Spare the pissing match of who was better. They all did a good enough job in this regard, but Bo and Bill couldn't translate that into a conference title. Where do you get those numbers? He was #10, #29 and #21 on Scout. ('05,'06,'07) I understand why you leave '04 out, since the Solich firing took the class from top ten to #38. Same could be said of Callahan's class with Trevor Robinson and Riley Reiff
  3. The fun and gun!!!! YES Well, he'd be better than Riley, but I don't think "Visor Boy" wants to deal with Nebraska winters interrupting his golf game. He didn't the last time there was an opening he could have potentially filled. He doesn't have many years left either so I don't think we want him, either. What makes you think he's better than Riley did you not see him run SC into the ground??

In reality, Callahan was about average overall as a recruiter, though he mismanaged his roster and went for JUCO shortcuts too much. If you and others wanted to say "Callahan recruited in line with Solich and Pelini" you'd hear not much argument from me. But to pretend he was better then those guys? That dog doesn't hunt. What are you missing about those numbers? #5, #20, #13 - National rankings.

  6. Who cares! Got about 7-8 that can go ahead and leave with him

  12. I will always believe in this team! However, after losing BIG game after BIG game after BIG game. I can remember losing to Texas on the Nunn fumble threw a remote through the living room wall. Losing to Texas in the Big 12 championship game ripped a sliding door off the hinges. On the hail mary it was just kind of meh. Like I said I will always believe but just having the gut punch after gut punch kind of gets old.
  13. I miss the movie posters that we used to make for games.....those were the best!
  14. Hate to say that a Wisky fan has the best post I've seen in weeks +1 sir!
  15. No one that sticks up for MR uses the "Whole nice guy" thing. Just the unhappy people that have nothing better to make their own lives miserable instead of just enjoying some NU football.
  16. 1. I don't agree. I think it just sends the message we have some semblance of standards, albeit not that unreasonable. You can't take a stable program that won 9-10 games the last 7 years and proceed to have one of the worst seasons in program history. I don't think that standard is too high. No one was expecting conference championships or more in the first year. Just don't immediately take us to last in our division. 2. I agree. There is a lot of competition for a few good candidates. Let me ask you this What would have been the strength of this team to get us back to the 9-10 win column Offensive line? QB Play? RB Play? Secondary Play? DE Play? The only strengths I see on this team have been some of our WR core I didn't say all and some of our young linebackers(would really like to see webber get more snaps) and the middle of the DL The "strengths" of this team to get to that nine or ten win plateau? Very simple......the schedule they play. While admittedly our talent is not top tier, the teams we've played have even less. Actually we are pretty even when you look at the recruiting numbers.
  17. You do know Bo went 10-2 multiple times, right? Yep, and the team got embarrassed in their last 2 games in each of those seasons... You sure about that? Lost to OU (who finished that season #6 with a BCS win) by 3 points. Lost a rematch game to Washington 19-7 2012 Lost badly to Wisconsin, who went on to play top 10 Stanford to the last possession in the Rose Bowl, if I recall. They also lost to NU earlier in the seasons Lost a hard fought game to #6 Georgia. That is not all that embarrassing. But I guess if your ego is wrapped up in a football team, that's your problem. You realize Bo hated the media and fans right?? This is coming from people who would rather be right then support the program. I'm talking the last couple seasons record wise with his own players. The only time we were ever relevant was during the times when ESPN got ahold of your beloved coaches rants. The guy is gone and not coming back and he's 4-4 at his current school, while his predecessor was 7-5 last year. What does that have to do with his 10-2 regular seasons, one of which was in 2012, a full 5 seasons after Callahan had been shown the door? If you felt hated by Bo, you probably deserved it. Because you are/were a fairweather fan with no appreciation of how hard it is to win games in CFB. Was actually a huge Bo supporter! Stuck with him through thick and thin and finally thought last year would be the year we were going to Wisconsin with tons of momentum and you know the rest. Melvin Gordon broke the NCAA rushing record in three quarters against Bo's defense. The next week we lose at home against Minnesota in which we can't stop a zone read with a FB playing QB for the gophers. I was still on board until the Iowa game even though we came back and won despite some terrible coaching. And after the audio came out where Bo pretty much called the fans pieces of SH*T. You're damn right, the door couldn't have hit him hard enough on the way out. As for the fair-weather fan comment I was at West Lafayette two years ago, Minnesota a couple weeks ago so try again. Trying to put my finger on it but there's no one that could be so dense that would still want to have Bo around. So either you must be Bo and if that's the case I hope Youngstown is treating you well because you finally found a job that suites you. hehe. Your timeline is a little off. Because of me not caring for him much personally after the audio leak? or when his coaching was running the team into the ground last year?
  18. Bo had lost to Minny two years in a row, If not for a hail mary he would have been 2-2 against Northwestern and was embarrassed and got boat raced by a 7-4 Iowa team in Lincoln two years ago. Those should have been teams we beat year in and year out with no problem. Bo was always getting outcoached against Kill and Fitzgerald and if that was too hard to see through you're Bo Pelini drunk goggles I'm afraid there isn't much hope for you

Personally, I don't think he should have been fired. I think he's a better coach than who we have now. I don't have any problem with his behavior. It's not my ideal approach, but it wasn't as bad as people claim. The culture was fine. NU graduated players, won a good number of games and didn't have toruble with the NCAA or law, for the most part. I'm not a guy who believes you fire someone for "not winning championships" (Pederson's words) or "games that matter" (Eichorst's). But when you start losing games that are inexcusable, like Illinois and Purdue due to stubbornness or stupidity, I'm going to be upset. Sorry I'm not sorry. Bo was the person that put us on the same level as Iowa, Minnesota, and Northwestern
