  1. Could also have easily finished 3-9. But, if my aunt had balls, she would be my uncle, as they say.Do tell, how were we close to finishing 3-9? I say we could have won 10 because there were 4 games we essentially lost at the last second. Enlighten me wordsmith. Not to be the negative guy, but he is not wrong. NU was up 29-7 to start the 4th & gave up 21 points & seemed unable to stop the Southern Miss offense in the 4th Qtr. A 3rd & 19 converted by Armstrong to Riley for 41yds stopped the bleeding in the forth quarter from Southern Miss & let NU score their only 4th quarter points. SM got a onside kick. Freedom sacked the QB to end the game. It ended up being a nail bitter at the end. MSU vs NU - Had the CB held on to a pass that Armstrong threw right to him. The game would have ended with another loss. The bowl game would have never happened with another loss so that would have made them 3-9. You can't just look at the bad breaks & not the good ones. The truth is this team is lucky to be a 6-7 team, as sad as that sounds. The bowl game was a gift. A gift that only 3 teams have ever recieved. How dare you slap these "best fans in the world" posters with reality. They were most likely raised in a fantasy world by their MILF stay at home moms. When faced with reality they lash out at you like you're their run-away daddies.
  2. Honestly, I'm ok with either one of those ratios as long as we're winning. Give it some time and I think some of those 7 losses become wins sooner rather than later.I should hope Purdue isn't ever a loss again. But that said, will people be content with 3 to 4 losses a season? All of the BOlievers were apparently content with it. Had a conversation with one of the relatives tonight who still wishes we had Bo. I asked him why, and the response was well the team never gave up on him. My response was the big ten title game vs Wisky or last year vs Wisky. He merely said that it wasn't bad coaching that it was just superior players. Once again I asked how could a walk on from GI be the back up QB for this team. His response well that's not the coaches fault. I find myself having conversations with people like this more often then I'd like to. Not sure if they will ever get it. Did he ask you about the 4 backup QBs + 1 starter on UNLs National Championship teams? 1970 - Van Brownson: Shenandoah, Ia. 1971 - Steve Runty: Ogallala, Nebraska 1994 - Matt Turman: Wahoo, Nebraska 1995 - Brook Berringer: Goodland KS 1997 - Scott Frost(STARTER): Wood River, Nebraska But I suppose you're not a Devaney or Osborne supporter either. Not always where you're from, it's how you party when you get there. How many of those guys threw 4 INTs in a game? To compare Ryker with those last two guys is pretty laughable. Love the story but I doubt he'd be starting for many D-1 schools How many of those guys were coached to throw 48 times against a conference bottom feeder? You don't have a clue about Ryker's abilities until he's led by a coach that can actually win more games than he loses. Your purpose here is becoming more and more evident. The hate on the coaching staff rhetoric is growing old, I don't care how much discussion it causes. You know what's growing old? The hiring practices of UNLs administration. The empty trophy case shelves from year 2000+. The non ability to be proud of our state treasure, the Cornhuskers. That's what.
  3. Not nice to refer to our coaches as obstacles but ok.
  4. This^^^ Also, I found a very interesting perspective on Coach Richt's paradox of meshing faith & football. Let me know if you all think his style will mesh with south Florida. http://www.atlantamagazine.com/great-reads/the-paradox-of-uga-football-coach-mark-richt/

  6. Do a majority of Canes fans realize Coach Richt is Nebraska-born...and if so, how do they feel about that? Also, he brings a bible-belt mentality to his coaching, will that matter in Coral Gables? Richt went to school at Miami lol Yessir he did and was born in Omaha with family still in the area. Both questions still stand lol boy.

  8. This is tongue in cheek right? 2 off-sides on extra point defense. 1 - missed extra point kept opponent within one score. 1 - KO return from endzone in a one-score game. Yeah, great coaching there.

But after watching the correct offensive scheme ran with success in the bowl game don't you think we owe that backup QB from GI an apology? Coaches put him in a bad position, when all they had to do was hand the ball off and let him throw 10 short passes. He would've been the game MVP like Tommy. Nope you blame the INTs on his small town don't you?

  11. Per Dan Hoppen Tweet: Nebraska play calling this season: Six wins: 56.2% runs, 43.8% passes Seven losses: 40.7% runs, 59.3% passes
  12. Hope you're all happy by winning a battle and losing the war. I am a realist husker fan and one thing I can't stand about my bretheran is their blind focus on the local team. One game and forget how far we are from the ultimate goal of championship football. Do you know what other coaching staffs are doing across the country to bring winning programs? You have no idea how far we are falling behind, do you? Here you go, just one example: http://www.freep.com/story/sports/college/university-michigan/wolverines/2015/06/18/michigan-recruiting-website/28873677/
  13. You too, or do you root for Iowa?
  14. Don't knock Foster Farms, that's good stuff! If it was THAT GOOD they'd have a New Year's Day bwol, like Outback. I can taste the steak & bloomin' onion now.
  15. I'm saying we NEVER would've been in the chicken bwol if they would've game prepped correctly against Ill., Pur., Wisc. & NW. Not hard to figure out.
  16. ...that what the coaching staff saw on UCLA's game tape was that much different from what was seen for Illin', Wisky, Purdunk & NerdWestern? Poor, poor & poorer game preps by these guys. I will NEVER trust them after this year. Should've been an easy 9-wins, maybe 10th over Jerkeyes. B1G 'ship game = hard to beat MSU twice. At worst, a trip to Rose. Instead, we get this toilet bowl trip and confusion about team's true identify. Whatta joke, hope smiley wises up or retires soon.
  17. Remember, I bet over 50% of these fans are in favor of the "participaion trophy" philosophy. "Oh, if I don't tell Jimmy I'm proud of his 11th place finish, he'll grow up to be a serial killer." Amurica is f'd, Nebraska's part of Amurica. You know what their doing in China right now? Weeding out 1 billion of the weakest citizens and preparing 300 million winners to lead the world with. Compare that to what the US is doing with it's 300 million people. Sorry, anyone calling the 2nd worst season in NU history a success is a deranged sunshine pumping fool. Hollow "bwol" win or not. Don't get me started on what Coach Harbaugh is doing right now while wearing his cleats.
  18. ucla is one of the worst rush defenses in the nation and for whatever reason played with only 6-7 in the box all night. So you might wanna analyze the competition before jumping on the soap box and showin Langsdorf you told-you-so card. Its just the way i see it. But yes, this is how these guys wanna manage a game. We just happened to be in a matchup where we had that advantage to do so. This sh#t dont happen like that in the Big ten. Ucla played Pelini-esqu defense tonight. By god as my witness they were not gonna let tommy have that big flashy pass play. No way. Lol. So we better tailor the excitement some. And dont call the buy in issue bullsh#t. It was real on many accounts and cited by several folks much more knowledgeable than myself. And ot was obvious to me. But obviously after that Purdue game there were some foots put down and some tough conversations had. And im callin out nate gerry cuz after that purdue game i was done with him. I was ready for him to never take another snap again. His effort and lack of give a damn was embarrasing. But whether he himself made the turnaround or there was another motivational factor in place, he made a 180 and has set a tone. And holy cow was he ballin tonight. He made me look like an a-hole. And i love it. He didnt just pack it in. He rallied and got back when everyone was coming down on him. This doesnt absolve the questionable coaching decisions that took place. But a game is a compilation of 60 minutes and nearly 200 plays. And its won as a team and lost by the team. While you nitpick 2-3 times the coaches f'd us i could do the same in terms of the players. Team includes everyone. Coaches. Players. Trainers. Statiticians. Everyone. This guy gets it^^^^^ +1000
  19. Funny how we Husker fans can remember the finest details of Tommie F's championship game in 1996-97 but tend to mis-remember Nov. 25th, 2015 for the current Tommy. Yeah, that's the day he was informed no charges would be filed for an alleged rape at his house. I wonder where that ranks in his "busy holiday schedule?"
  20. Any way you slice it, it's hard to get past this point. Why do you guys consistently try to misrepresent the talent that Bo had on the team and act like we won't notice? He had NFL caliber running backs EVERY YEAR he was here. He had Suh and some of the nastiest DBs early on and one of the best LBs in the NFL. He won 9 games last year and had three most talented players on the team drafted. Three cornerstone players the offense and defense were absolutely built around. But by all means, continue to act like Bo coached with no talent. Can't give Bo credit for winning 9-10 games every year, but we can sure blame him for only a 5 win team that he didn't even coach. Can't make this stuff up. Some of you actually think this way. ^^^This^^^
  21. Crooked teeth most likely...or that lower leg affliction Forrest Gump had.
  22. And what is the skull sitting on top of and connected to the body by? Anyone...anyone? The NECK! If players trained all the muscles in their neck (including rotational) they could reduce the acceleration of the head when hit. But no, the cavemen coaches just want you bigger & faster so you can effectively hurt someone during the 2 quarters before you're ejected or concussed. I don't want to derail the thread, but only add a small point that the bolded brings to mind. I really can't stand the trend in football that has transpired over the years with the ESPN highlight full force body slam tackle mentality. Way too many misses/wiffs. What ever happened to a good ole' two arm wrap up tackle? Solid fundamentals seem to be on the decline. Okay, done now. Back to the topic at hand. You're right on point, in fact. It's the cave men coaches that use terms like "pu$$ies" & "concussions are blown way out of proportion" & don't forget "my team has only had 1 concussion in the last 5 years" --- bull$#!+--- Not only do they have no idea, they wouldn't admit if they did see more than 1. See, in their heads, hurting the other team's players = winning. They will stop at nothing to win. Even at the expense of little Johnny's abilty to win a future spelling bee. How about taking 5 minutes per practice and strengthen your players' necks instead of playing kill the man to see who you can trust in the trenches? Now watch, they will deny it, just like the NFL did until they got caught. Better change your ignorance about blows to the head or you will be the root cause of football's demise.
  23. That's exactly why I'm on my crusade to make the game safer. I could give 2 sh#ts if MMA, Rugby or Soccer went away. But if they ban football, America is done for me. No reason to stay, I'll go enjoy some down under in the down under.
  24. And what is the skull sitting on top of and connected to the body by? Anyone...anyone? The NECK! 25. If you've read a single report about the impact concussions have on the brain and what it does to an individual long term, you'd be singing a different tune. No offense, but adding the word 'liberal lawyers' (like they have anything to do with it?) and calling him a pu&&y makes you look pretty ignorant about the topic. You clearly don't understand the topic and come off looking not so great. You missed the point. Your argument is essentially that football is too violent and damaging to the brain, and that it perhaps needs to be re-examined as a sport. It's a conversation worth having, but the OPs point is that it doesn't make sense for a guy who feels that way to be calling a football game. It would be rather like having Sunday services led by a "pastor" who does nothing more than rant about the evils of organized religion. If Ed Cunningham thinks football is a brutal sport and too violent and dangerous, he shouldn't be calling games on TV. If you can't understand that, it's you w ho doesn't look "so great." Thanks. More eloquently put by you, than I . I can can add whatever disclaimers I want to him. There are certain segments of the population trying to bring (ESPECIALLY the NFL) football down. It's no secret there are people who have never ever played a down of football in "concussion protocol" booths in stadiums all over the country. I played football for 17 years and had my bell rung a time or two along the way. What I got out of football is way more than it took from me. My personal experience is that he whole concussion problem is blown way way out of proportion for the avg little league-high school player. College and NFL, I can see a need for some new thought. But to listen to Bill (Ed) Cunnigham sit there and rant on and on about the number of plays, injury attrition, violence, player size and force etc etc...he sounded pansy. Just a freakin pu&&y. Why is he calling games and giving opinions on a game he doesn't believe should be played?? And it's been obvious over the years (I remember several games he's called of Nebraska wherein he was overly pursuant of egregious hits and lowering of head. It's nauseating listening to him during games complain about the violence of the sport.) If you can't see your style of argument is part of the problem then you're just ignorant. You do realize that individuals under 18 are typically not making the final call in whether they play football, not to mention playing it safely. All you see is "you're a pu$$y" or "you're a tough guy." What an ignorant attitude. Real toughness is using your brain to make smart choices not bash it into other humans with intent to hurt them, in effect damaging your own ability to make smart choices. Can't you see the irony of that?
